Won this to add to my growing pre-code JIM collection, but just as I was grabbing the scan I noticed that it is mislabeled.
I think mislabeled CGC slabs make a comic even more collectible. Like double covers or rare error variants! And congrats on the sweet comic, btw

Is it April 1st already?

One more win, a favorite EC cover at a discount for the color touch.

Anyone lucky enough to land some of those sweet white-paged Fantucchio Thors? I put a few bids on the Galactus covers but got hammered.

I just picked up one more classic Aparo cover, this time with the artist himself front and center!

If you are doing business with Guardian Comics you would have access to a lot of keys.

In the case of buying books at a convention and bringing home you would not have much problem asking the vendor for a receipt made out for less than actual value. And yes, that is illegal but it’s still done, nothing I’ve done but nevertheless. It’s easier with collectibles because there is no precise value you can assign to any one item.
I believe you’re allowed 700 duty free in a 48 hr period, I usually go with both my kids so none of this would affect me at all.
Returning after 48 hours or more is ideal, as you can claim goods up to $800 CDN (and a bottle of booze!) without paying any duty or taxes. However, most of my trips across the border rarely exceed 15 minutes.

Careful. That is illegal and you might run into border agents that will require you provide proof of the expense.
I once was forced to drive to the local airport to provide proof of the purchase I had made because the seller shipped it with lower declared value ( even though I asked him to declare full value).
Totally agree. Every time I cross the border and tell them what I'm bringing back (comics and US junk food) the first thing they ask is do I have invoices and I always do. I make sure to pay by Paypal here on the boards and other places (Ebay, Comiclink, etc) so I can print the receipt. Satisfied I have proof of value they always wave me through. I know this next sentence is going to jinx me, but I have never been told to go inside and pay duty/tax.

I was at a local book sale recently where there happened to be a box of TPBs and, unfortunately, I was second there. I waited patiently while the guy who beat me to the box leafed through it and picked out the books he wanted. When he was just about done an insufficiently thoughtful person forced his way to the backside of the table and tried to attack the box from the other end. Before I could even protest, the first guy tore a profanity-laced strip off the newcomer, telling him he could take a lesson from me in proper box-diving etiquette as he pulled the box away and handed it to me. Unfortunately, he'd already taken all the good stuff

Quick question that might be a little off topic: if I'm sending comics to CCS/CGC for quick press/grading that are (I've been told) file copies, how do I make sure this notation ends up on the CGC label? Include the File Copy info on the submission form and cross my fingers? Or will CGC require further proof/provenance before adding this notation?

Having stuff shipped in by mail is usually fine for avoiding taxes/duty/etc if the item has a relatively low declared value ($100 or less). If you have it brought in by FedEx they will definitely try to charge you duty/taxes just so they can add on their processing fee. I haven't tried to bring any comics worth $4700 over the border, but in my experience bringing back anything worth approximately $400 or less gets you waved through with zero taxes or duties. Add on the free shipping often found in the US and a border parcel service makes a lot of sense for those near enough to use one.

One more magic trick, keep an eye out for Thirdgreenham threads in the Forum Only Selling Area. Good Canadian Keys!

Move close to the border and get a US shipping address. Even more frustrating than exchange, shipping, customs, etc (mainly buying from Ebay) is when they won't even let you bid on the comic if you're Canadian. Without a US shipping address, a good chunk of US only listings won't even appear on an Ebay search.

Sorry, I was out visiting my mom! If it isn't too late, I'd like to grab Sckao's mystery box #15.

When submitting comics (Economy) for a full press do I have to request screening or is it automatic? Thanks.
