  1. Bought this off of Comiclink last night. An original owner copy. Cost me about $1,800.00. I was debating on whether to spend that much money but I have always wanted this book and it looks fantastic for a 9.6. It looks far better than the 9.8 (really bad and ugly wrap) that went for nearly $5,000.00.

  3. I recently had to return a graded comic due to it having little bits of broken plastic stuck inside of the CGC case. CGC has had my book for over a month and it is still showing as "scheduled for grading". I would think that if a graded book had to be returned by a customer due to a mistake made by CGC that you would want to get the mistake fixed and returned to the customer ASAP. Also, I just received yet another graded book than has broken pieces of plastic inside of the case. Not happy at all. CGC seems to have absolutely no quality control whatsoever. If I can immediately spot these little pieces of broken plastic inside of the CGC cases, then why is Quality Control not able to?
  4. I just received my second graded book with broken pieces of plastic inside the case. This seems to be a recurring problem now. Not happy. How does quality control not see bits of broken plastic inside of the CGC cases?

  6. There is no quality control at CGC I have been a victim numerous times of their lack of quality control.
  7. I posted this question yesterday but it seems to have disappeared. I recently sent in my copy of Amazing Spider-man CGC 9.6 for a re-holder, order #: CGC9397312633. Unfortunately I was out of state when the comic was returned to me in it's new holder. By the time I got home, opened the package, and discovered that there was broken pieces of plastic inside the new holder, more than two weeks had passed. So I shipped it back to CGC for a second time, order #:CGC9411751066 to get this problem corrected, but since two weeks have passed, I get to pay for it. More that $60.00 out of my pocket to pay for your screw-up. Not happy. Why do I only get two weeks to return CGC's mistake? You're the ones who screwed up. Giving me only two weeks seems like a way for you to keep my money even though you messed up.

  9. So, going back to probably 2005 or so I was getting back into comics after giving up on the hobby in the mid 90's. I found a really nice copy of Hulk #181 on eBay. I decided to bid on it and won it for $1,200. I sent it in to CGC to be graded and it came back as an 8.0. About a year later in 2006 or so I once again gave up on the hobby. I put my CGC 8.0 Hulk 181 up for auction on eBay. It sold for around $500.00. I got back into comics about a year and a half ago and have bought back nearly my entire collection and then some (10 long boxes of raw comics and 6 short boxes of graded books) but I'm quickly losing hope of ever being able to buy another high grade copy of Hulk #181. Oh well. Still kicking myself. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1809448056083976&type=3
  10. I own a CGC 9.8 copy of the green, silver, and gold covers simply because I like the covers and can remember when they were originally released. I don't expect them to ever really be worth much. Sometimes I buy a particular comic only for sentimental and nostalgic reasons. Because of the memories. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1809448056083976&type=3

  13. Is this normal? How does pieces of broken plastic inside a CGC case pass quality control?
  14. I sent in what I would call a more or less perfect copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Adventures #1 to be pressed and graded. The two photos I have here are photos I took of the front and back cover prior to sending it in to CGC. Obviously the photos were taken prior to being pressed. I have not yet received the comic back from CGC yet but the comic received a grade of 7.5 with the graders notes stating that there was a full bend on the front cover. There were no bends, folds, creases, or anything of that nature when I sent the comic to CGC. Does this happen a lot? Has anybody else had their comics develop mysterious damage that was not there when the comic was shipped to CGC? This was a great looking book that I thought would get a grade of 9.6 or 9.8. Then all of a sudden the cover gets folded in half prior to grading. I don’t get it.
  15. I am going to return the comic to the eBay seller who sold it to me. I explained to them that it is not their fault and if they are the ones who had it graded, they should contact CGC and have them explain how a comic book with so many flaws could possibly receive a grade of 9.8. It's absolutely unacceptable on the part of CGC. If someone like me can spot all of these flaws, then how can a "trained" grader working for CGC give this book a grade of 9.8. I have pretty much lost all confidence in CGC. If they can give a comic with so many flaws a more or less perfect grade of 9.8, then I have to wonder what other weird stuff is going on over there. I have books graded at 9.0 and 9.2 that look far superior in condition than this 9.8.

  17. I’m just curious. I bought this CGC 9.8 white pages Daredevil #160 off of e-Bay the other day and I’m really wondering how it could have possibly received the grade of 9.8. Numerous spine ticks, pretty good wear on the upper left hand corner, and pretty severe wear around the staples. The book has definitely been around the block a few times. My question is, how does a newly printed comic with absolutely no noticeable flaws receive a grade of 9.8 while this comic with more flaws than I care to mention can also receive a grade of 9.8? Isn’t 9.8 more or less a mint comic? This Daredevil #160 is not mint. I have comics that have graded around 9.0 and 9.2 that look far more nicer than this 9.8. Are the graders at CGC receiving proper training prior to letting them grade comics?
