  2. Have a buyer to report:

    doom2000

Went out of the country on vacation and put an alert on my account that I would not be shipping any books until I returned.

A couple days into my vacation buyer bought a green label Captain America 25 signed by Stan Lee and Joe Simon. Six days later (while I was at the airport waiting for my return flight) buyer reads the description and looks at the pictures and is disappointed that the book is not a gold label signature series book.

Buyer blames me for a "fraudulent listing" claiming I failed to disclose that the book was not signature series despite description and pictures to the contrary. He asks me to cancel the listing and tells me that he is putting the funds on hold. Buyer filed an item not received claim with Paypal.

After I got home I contacted ebay and Paypal to confirm that I still had time to ship and sent the item to the seller fully insured with signature confirmation. Tracking shows that item was delivered to seller who refused to accept delivery. Paypal sided with the buyer and provided a full refund.

I got Paypal to reverse their fees as "a one time courtesy" and have the book on its way back to me. It I get the book back safely I am out about $16 for the shipping and insurance. I got ebay to issue the buyer a non-payment strike but am not sure if it will have any teeth to it.

If there is any other action I can take against the buyer suggestions would be welcome but I think I have probably wasted enough time and effort on this one.

  3.

re: that buyer - nope. He doesn't deserve anything but an explanation, which you gave him.

    -slym

He got his explanation, felt he was entitled to more than that and left me a negative anyway.

That is why he should be avoided.

  4. Messages

me - I do have about 350 other listings. Please take a look and if you see something you like perhaps we can figure something out. Otherwise I will have to cancel the listing and refund your money.

    Thanks again.

You have been reasonable and I am really sorry that the book is nowhere to be found.

buyer - If you do not have the same book signed by Robert kirkman and graded just send me my money back. This is horrible I bought that book for my sons birthday and you ruined it.

    Chaos..

Being in sales a long time, this would of been the perfect opportunity to push one of your other items 'at a massive discount'......

The buyer wanted something for his trouble..Ok great! Let me see what I can do for you! AHA! I have a mint conditon blah blah blah blah that just came in and ive been saving it for a long time customer blah blah blah blah...

Not trying to sound like an ,, this is how the great sellers outperform the average sellers.

    Simple....Lemons/lemonade.

As you can see above I tried to do that. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

  5. While I am a one man operation this was a buy it now listing. With thousands of books in my inventory I am not going to have a case of sellers remorse on an $80 book graded CGC 9.4 even if it is a signed Walking Dead variant.

This was one of the books that I had slabbed over a year ago which means it should have been listed alphabetically. Also, the only reason I would have to take the book out of the box is if I had sold it.

While I took the time to look through my sales records (various Excel files) and did not find the book listed as sold my guess is that I may have accidentally put the wrong book with the correct dollar amount. Even so I did look through all of the boxes just in case the book was misplaced and could not find it.

This is not something I expect to happen all that often but people sometimes make mistakes.

  6. I have a buyer to nominate for the list.

I had a fixed price listing for a CGC 9.4 Walking Dead 101 Ghost Variant. Buyer bought the book and paid for it so I left him great feedback.

When I was ready to ship the book I looked everywhere and could not find it even though I do not have any record of having sold it.

I apologized to the buyer, canceled the transaction and refunded his money in full. He then sent me a message asking for further compensation for his inconvenience which I politely declined. After receiving the refund the buyer left me negative feedback.

    ---------------

Feedback I left for the buyer:

    Great Buyer! Fast Payment! A+++++

    ---------------

    Feedback buyer left for me

This guy might not even have the item you purchase...shady ebayer.

    My reply:

Item was misplaced, full refund was given to buyer. It was simple mistake.

me - I appreciate your patience but I owe you an apology. I looked everywhere and I just don't have the book anymore. The odd thing is I do not have any record of having sold it.

    me - Will do.

Sorry I could not find the book.

buyer - Just refund my money asap. Thanks

me - Already canceled the order and asked them to refund the money. Ebay and Paypal will take it from here.

buyer - You should send me something for the trouble. What do you think?

me - made a mistake and I apologized for it. I also gave you a full refund. I think that is a reasonable outcome.

  7. I had the same issue with suziejenn. Buyer purchased a Walking Dead #100 2x Signed and then a day later PayPal informs me that the payment was not authorized by the buyer.

    Mine was a WD 4 2x signed.

As I saw the positive feedback going up I decided to contact ebay before this joker could do this to more of us.

  8. After buying the book and paying right away with Paypal a buyer sent me a message the following day to ask when I am sending the book.

After another 24 hours (I had started packing the book to ship it the following morning) the buyer opened a case with their credit card company that they did not authorize the charge which caused Paypal to initiate a case and reverse the payment to me. Thank God I didn't send it out sooner.

If they book and the message were sent through ebay and the buyer did not authorize the charges that would mean the ebay account has been compromised. Otherwise, the buyer is lying and the ebay account is still a problem for would be sellers.

I had already given the buyer positive feedback (as they had paid right away). After finding out from Paypal that ebay is a separate company so Paypal didn't bother to tell them about the buyer challenging payment I reported the buyer to ebay.

While I did report the buyer to ebay I thought I would post fair warning here since it seems their purchases and feedback seem to be increasing.

Suziejenn is the name on the account.

  9. I only discovered this show in the past few weeks. Watched all of season 2. Now I need to hit season 1 somewhere. It's hilarious.

The purge episode just might be my favorite one so far, but I thought season 1 was better. I'm not saying season 2 was bad, or even disappointing. Just a personal preference.

The Unity episode may have been my highlight of what I've seen so far. That said, it's the only one I've seen twice.

Unity is the first episode I ever saw and remains my favorite.

    Honorable mention to Mr. Meekses.

    Can't wait for season 3.

  10. See a few posts up. Contingent deals happen all day every day in businesses of all kinds. If two people agree to a something they are free to do it.

Contingent dealers involve a promise of some kind from the buyer.

For example, a buyer who signs a contract for a house or car contingent on financing is in no position to back out if the bank comes through.

Buying something contingent on back cover scans is another matter because the opinion of the buyer (and not a matter of fact) is the contingency. If the seller provides the scans, the buyer can arbitrarily decide to back out because they just don't like the look of it. Even if the back cover was flawless the seller is in no position to force the buyer to follow through with the sale.

Just because a clever buyer tricks a seller into making a promise for nothing in return does not mean that an agreement has been reached.

The contingent buyer has no skin in the game.

  11. The problem with conditional offers is that there really is nothing in it for the seller.

Sure you can nail down a price that would work for both of you but the buyer hasn't committed to anything.

Unless both parties are committed has an agreement been reached?

If a seller agrees to hold a book without any commitment from a buyer shouldn't the seller be free to change his mind (just as the seller is free to walk with the back cover as an excuse)?

  12. Just my two cents:

If you tell a buyer that you will take the book pending back cover scans you really haven't committed to anything. Even if the back cover looks good you could still use it as an excuse to back out.

Just because the buyer told you that he will get you the scans you want does not mean that he promised to hold the book for you if someone else is willing to take the book unconditionally.

Also, if he gets two conditional offers and responds to the more recent one first I don't see how anyone got screwed on this one.

  13.

What section covers penalties for animated gif abuse?

The mob with the pitchforks and torches wasn't enough?

Just for the record, even though I give you a hard time about it, I try to do it in a good natured fun way I hope. :foryou:

    No worries.

It was very frustrating when everyone was piling on earlier but everything is cool.

The ideas that weren't working have been tried out and discarded.

Nothing like a few big sales to make everything feel better.
