  1. We have a large enough inbound volume from the post office that our stuff isn't handled like a regular delivery. Something about the way that's arranged causes the USPS tracking notes to show up like you're seeing.
  2. List the raw books you want to consign using this page: https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics/record As you look up issues, our page will tell you what's eligible for consignment based on estimated value. There's also an option to offer items that you know are higher value but our system undervalues and says aren't eligible: https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics/recordother_consignmentoverride Any slabs you want to consign can be submitted more simply, just by typing them in: https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics/consignmentquicksubmit When you're done listing items, you submit a consignment transaction. We'll approve it and provide you a shipment invoice to print and ship with the comics. When we get the comics we'll check them in and grade them. Once they're ready in your account, you'll get an email that you have items ready to be priced or put in auction. We provide variety of info to help you choose a price to set. If you want recommendations on books to be sent to CGC, you'd discuss that via email or phone with our consignment director, and we can submit any books for you.
  3. I agree with you about extensions. Years ago the option to request an extension was meant to be a rarely used option for people who were reliable buyers but hit something unexpected, and we saw it as better for the consignor to get their payment in one week late than not get the payment in at all and have to cancel the auction and relist it. However, that was back before we extended the regular payment window to 15 days to allow bidders to combine multiple weeks of wins together in one shipment. I agree with you that with the longer initial window there's less justification for allowing an extension. Discussed with our consignment director and we will be making these two changes: - tightening up on when we allow a payment extension - when a bidder has completed checkout for their auction wins and turned in an order, but selected a non-instant payment method like check or bank transfer, the consignor's item status page will show more info to the consignor about the status of the order and when we expect to receive payment, so it doesn't just look like the item is sitting there with no action from the winning bidder
  4. I took a quick look at your books. I won't go into specifics in a public forum unless you want to (can give more details by PM if you like), but I wouldn't say that your books are priced on the low end of the spectrum. Most of your books are in one of these two groups: 1) not priced unreasonably, but common enough that there are other copies in the same grade currently consigned with us and priced cheaper than yours, so nobody will buy yours until those lower priced ones are taken off the table 2) not priced unreasonably, and no cheaper copies currently consigned with us, but your price is still higher than 80%+ of GPA sales from the past few weeks. It's not unrealistic to think your book could sell at that price, but neither would I find it particularly surprising that it hasn't sold yet. With most of your items your price isn't far off from the clearing price where I think it would sell fairly quickly, but for books with a lot of supply if you're not the cheapest in the market at the moment the odds are against you being picked.
  5. We can submit items to CGC for consignors. We've always passed our full dealer discount on to our consignors, but I think CGC reduced it in the past year or so and it's no longer 20%.
  6. As long as we are able to know who they belong to when they get to us, yes, we can accept incoming consignment shipments directly from CGC.
  7. Not currently, but working on that. Hopefully soon, but not "next week" soon.
  8. I think of slab damage, defects and imperfections in three groups: - significant damage that compromises the integrity of the case or is serious enough to require the book be reholdered before it can be sold - flaws that do not necessarily require recasing, but are serious enough that the defect should be included in the item description - flaws and imperfections that are minor enough they should be viewed as par for the course, and do not need to be called out in item descriptions We deal with some very picky buyers, who want to treat the most minor scuffing and scratches as a big deal. Same with newton rings back a while ago. And on the other hand, we have consignors who feel we're doing them a disservice if we're overly descriptive about reporting minor case flaws. Do you have thoughts about where you think that line should be drawn? What kind of stuff should be reported to the buyer, and what kind of stuff is to be expected and doesn't need to be noted?
  9. I agree and have spoken about that with our department recently, and will continue to follow up on that. Some buyers are extremely picky about minor case issues, but we shouldn't be going to extremes to accommodate those people.
  10. I've seen a couple people do that. Some people have too much time on their hands.
  11. Some thoughts on our grading: we aren't trying to grade exactly like CGC. We have our own grading standards that are admittedly tighter than CGC, and we attempt to grade to those standards. That said, CGC's grading, and broad community consensus from experienced graders familiar with CGC's grading, is the industry norm and is still very relevant to us. We don't operate in a vacuum. For me personally, I'd be most happy with our grading if our grades relative to CGC usually fell in the range of 0.0, 0.5, or 1.0 below an accurately graded CGC. We generally have extremely few books that CGC grades lower than our grade, but I don't want to be so tight that there are many books where CGC would be 1.5+ (3 notches) higher than our grade, unless we can point to a specific defect that our standards count off for that CGC is softer against. I acknowledge it's possible there are some books we may grade a little too tightly--if you have something you feel is a particularly extreme example, you can PM me and I'll review it with our inventory team. And lastly, as others have said, I encourage you not to take a tight grade from us personally, but look at how much you can ultimately sell the book for. Can you sell it for more money with us, faster and easier, than with your other alternatives. If so, then it's a good option. If you think not, by all means send me a PM and I'll review it with you.

  13. Yes--if you want to drop off consignments in person, what we ask is: 1) First submit a regular consignment transaction like you normally would, either via the quick submit option for slabs only, or via the regular submission system if submitting raws too. Creating one of those transactions will give you a submission invoice to print--bring that with the comics you drop off. 2) You don't need to schedule an appointment with us ahead of time to drop off consignments--you can stop by any time 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.
  14. We will be at a couple shows accepting consignment drop-offs this year. We'll be at Heroes in Charlotte at the end of June, and Baltimore Comic Con at the end of October. This is our first year doing this so starting out small--depending on how it goes we might add other shows in the future.
  15. Sorry--looks like I broke something last Friday while making a change. That's fixed now and all recently posted or re-priced consignments are once again listed on eBay as usual.
  16. We give people 15 days, enough to combine together auction wins from 3 weekly auctions. Sometimes if somebody's been previously reliable we might give them a small grace period beyond that. If your book ended Feb 7 it's already past the deadline so it should soon be paid for or canceled to be relisted. If you want you can PM and let me know the email address for your account and I can give you more specific info.
  17. Checked with our consignment director this morning, and she said your book had been removed from the queue going to CGC for relabeling yesterday, and will be recorded as-is. One of our employees was reviewing a group of slabs that included your book plus multiple other copies of the same issue, and that person saw that your book was labeled differently than the others, so thought that meant it had been mislabeled by CGC. But it appears CGC's handling of this issue has evolved over time, and nothing about your book is incorrect and needs relabeling. If I'm understanding correctly from previous discussion here on the boards and in this rarecomics post, what we currently have listed as variant 1AU (described as having originally been polybagged, polybag removed, with Spidey-head instead of barcode), can actually be differentiated into two further variants--one that originally came in a polybag, and one that looks very similar but never was in a polybag to begin with. My understanding is that the way to differentiate these two versions is that one has more purplish colored webbing and one has more grey webbing, and also something about the color difference in a small area just to the side of Spidey's right knee. We're reviewing this to see if we want to update our catalog entries.
  18. I'll review this with our staff tomorrow. Looks like there's been a bunch of confusion over the years with the different versions of this issue and how they're labeled, and want to be sure we have all our notes exactly right.
  19. I think the confusion is that item 55557568 Bird mentioned is is Planet 27, not 47 https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=55557568 See copies of Planet Comics that were recently sold. https://www.mycomicshop.com/newlistings?q=planet+comics&minyr=&maxyr=1960
  20. Regarding our processing times for raws and slabs--I don't think we're slow relative to anybody that provides a comparable service at our volume, but we do want to be faster. I'd like to get our times for slabs down to the range of 1-3 business days from receipt to ready to go. Raws will be longer than slabs since grading is slower than imaging. 10 business days might be a good goal for raws but that's not final. And certain classes of trickier books like Golden Age requiring more thorough examination will probably be in a separate track that moves a little slower. I met with our management team earlier this week to discuss this. Previously hadn't pushed too much on this because we had some people out during December and early January due to COVID or other illness, but that's mostly behind us and we're ready to make progress. Internally we're working on developing better reporting so we have better understanding of how many items are at each step in our pipeline, where there are bottlenecks, individual productivity, etc. Then we'll build from that and decide if we need to add more workstations, hire more people, etc. My goal would be that we've made significant progress on this by the end of the summer, if not sooner.
  21. We'll typically offer a 10% of the purchase price as finder's fee for referrals to large collections. Primary exception would be highly competitive lots like smaller groups of high value CGCs, where if we did a 10% finder's fee that might cut into our margin enough that we couldn't successfully buy the collection, in which case we might discuss a lower finder's fee with the referrer, since it's better to get some finder's fee than nothing at all.
  22. Thanks for sharing the news here. I never got to meet him but definitely remember his presence on the boards. He will be missed. RIP
  23. 90 day GPA average is $425 but trending down a bit, and most recent 9.8 sales from GPA are $360, 420, 430, 425, 400. Cheapest equivalent 9.8 in our inventory is a consignor's $449, cheapest on ebay is about $435 with shipping. If it were my book I'd probably start it at $420-430 and then be ready to drop it a little more after a few weeks if it hasn't sold and GPA prices show any further movement down. Depends on how urgently you want it to sell vs being willing to wait.
  24. Buy it now consignments mention the 3% buyer's premium in the listing text: For auctions, that info is not repeated with each individual auction listing. Instead, it's part of the bidder agreement that you have to acknowledge before you're able to bid: The info about the buyer's premium is the first item listed in the bidder agreement, and you have to check that checkbox and click accept before you're able to bid. For your own reference, you can view the bidder agreement terms again at any time from the link near the top of the auctions page:
