  1. Yes, McFarlane inked Liefeld looks amazing. Todd overpowers stuff. Williams inked Liefeld is solid, but strange to see one issue after McFarlane - it showed that both of them put a lot of their own influence in there. Wiacek inked art from 87 is solid but sorta standard. Milgrom and Barta inked Liefeld were pretty weak. And I still think his best stuff was when he inked himself towards the end of NM and beginning of XF. Clearly plenty disagree:)
  2. Both her left leg and left hand are all effed up. Look at her thigh versus her lower leg. How is her right foot 3 times larger than her left foot? Her left hand is in an impossible position. Try and bend your arm that way. Can't do it. Unless that's her little finger disguised as a thumb. And there is no comparison to Art Adams. The Adams drawings all a superior to any of the Liefeld stuff you've said is his "best". His art is clean. His figures are proportional. His poses are possible. I didn't post that as an example of his best, but as a free gift for those who like to pick apart his stuff:) It's one of the most comical depictions of a woman he may ever have made. That said, I imagine almost anyone who read that comic 20 years ago would recognize it as well. Good or bad, it was memorable.
  3. You have made a valiant attempt, but you have no foundation to stand on. Right back atcha! You have made a valiant attempt, but you have no foundation to stand on. Do you know how to make an argument without simply repeating what others have said? Are you not aware that your post here is nothing more than a glorified "I know you are, but what am I?" I was actually mocking the fact that you posted the exact same comment twice in a row.
  4. And people say Liefeld doesn't do backgrounds...COME ON! That's a seriously badass establishing shot of the Arctic! I don't see a single thing to criticize.
  5. As the lone voice in a sea of crazy people, maybe it has gone to my head a little...sorry.

  7. Someone should start a thread on him... -slym (would bet on how long it took for someone to mention Liefeld, just to be a ) :: I love Adams work. It's great stuff. And I honestly see no connection to Liefeld that could realistically be made. I'm not going to jump on another thread to be a ...except maybe for RMA...he's growing on me.
  8. So by this logic nothing is off limits if the topic includes the artist's name? The topic doesn't really serve a purpose then other than being tags to search by? I've added Art Adams name to this response. We can now post on him, right? I'm sorry, but the point of a thread is to discuss a topic. If there were 10 different threads about Liefeld going on at once and they all immediately devolved into this kind of spectacle you're saying that would be fine? C'mon. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like if there was a thread started about "Best John Byrne X-Men Issue" it would be completely acceptable for me to talk about how he was an individual_without_enough_empathy to me when I tried to get his autograph at the urinal, right? His name is in the title so that's acceptable?
  9. Do you even realize you're making blanket statements based on your own opinion? What Liefeld knows and does not know we have no clue on. Assumptions maybe, but not knowledge. All we can see is what he chooses to put on paper. And every indication is that he's lazy and cuts corners. He could use an eraser to fix mistakes but chooses not to. I suspect it's more likely he doesn't care. But that's honestly all we really can discern. Anything more is just assumptions and guesswork. The goal of comics is to produce comics. He has a family to support. If his page rate is $X and he can produce 15 perfect pages or 30 slacked pages in the same month, who are we to argue that? Many won't agree, but that's his business if he wants to put that kind of work out there. Words in people's mouths? Such as arguing that you know the inner workings of someone's mind? The full details of what they do and don't know about art? Oh yeah? And you smell like poo. You've repeated YOUR opinion many times now. Are you expecting if you keep beating the dead horse a lamp will pop out? C'mon, move on man. You don't like Liefeld. Power to you. I do. Just because you can't see anything in the art doesn't mean others can't.
  10. Have you read the thread? I've repeatedly pointed out that it's a topic meant to discuss YOUR FAVORITE LIEFELD ART. It's NOT a thread about "rant about Liefeld" or even "let's discuss the merits of Liefeld's art" or anything that might invite the kind of negativity being expressed. There are plenty of other forums already for that:) Instead, for those of us who actually like Liefeld and wanted to discuss it, we've had the eternal peanut gallery chiming in with all of their negative comments that have nothing to do with favorite art. So since the entire thread has devolved into people nitpicking Liefeld's every line, it's entirely fair game to point out other artists who have similar weaknesses that are conveniently ignored or overlooked and held to a different standard. If you want to step in and moderate a forum do it when things first start to go off the rails, not when the moss has already grown over the bodies.
  11. The thread is titled "Re: What is your Favorite Art,Drawing or story by Rob Liefeld?". Given that the vast majority of posts have had nothing to do with that, I'm not sure I see your point.
  12. Adams is a perfect example of your double standard:) Adams' early work and mistakes can be excused because his later work is better. Liefeld's early work and mistakes cannot be excused because his later work was worse. Adams could never hit deadlines but that's fine because he produced 25 pieces/year. Liefeld could never hit deadlines and that's horrible because he only produced 150 pieces/year. Adams' draws everyone with clenched fists and that's fine, because hands are not important in comics. Liefeld draws everyone with stub-feet and that's horrible because feet are the most vital part of comics. Oooohhh, c'mon everyone, let's play "count the clenched fists"!
  13. Don't be ridiculous. The effort RabidFerret has put into this thread is far greater than Rob Liefeld has ever expended on anything. Hahahaha:) Sad, but true...
  14. I'm thinking he's sitting on a load of Liefeld OA Very appropriately put Yup. It's me and this guy collecting all the Liefeld OA nobody wants: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=5149 He has a mess collection, huh?
  15. Well, to be fair I didn't realize it was a fetish until this thread started, but now I can't get enough of them!! Found this site and they have almost 9000 to choose from! http://www.wayfair.com/Lamps-C215429.html Me and RockMyAmadeus are gonna catfight this mess!
  16. I'm thinking he's sitting on a load of Liefeld OA I've posted 2 different pages I own, so yeah, I quite enjoy his OA. If anyone's selling I'm certainly buying:) Based on this thread, it sounds like anyone stuck with any would love to unload it. Just send me a PM:) Boom Yes! Boom Boom art is welcome! Like this super sexy piece! I know you'll all love it. Now THAT is the female form the way it's meant to be seen!!
  17. Art Adams has done some amazing work. But I don't hear many people whining about his long legs and questionable anatomy:) And he sure does a lot of clenched fists, eh?
  18. I'm thinking he's sitting on a load of Liefeld OA I've posted 2 different pages I own, so yeah, I quite enjoy his OA. If anyone's selling I'm certainly buying:) Based on this thread, it sounds like anyone stuck with any would love to unload it. Just send me a PM:)
  19. Yes, exactly. It's art. You shouldn't need to defend it against someone else's idea of what they care about. He had a unique style and told enjoyable stories. I'm not sure why it needs to be dissected as if buried somewhere in there is some higher meaning. I believe 100% that the purpose of a comic book is to entertain the reader. That's the goal. I happily spent my $2 and my 15 minutes and felt I got my money's worth and walked away entertained. I have spent the same time and money on many other comics that were executed closer to many of the standards demanded on this thread, and found them sorely wanting. There's more to crafting a good comic than following a specific set of rules.
  20. My only point in comparing the two was to highlight that a lot of the mistakes people accuse Liefeld of are present in other people often put on a pedestal. Most comic artists cut similar corners. In the case of this piece, what I notice and am bothered by is really the hand. The perspective and stylistic elements are fine, but the hand really doesn't look like a hand:)
  21. Liefeld used tech pens for a lot of backgrounds and straight edges, which have not aged well. Almost all of Shatterstar's swords have faded from that era. Sadly, it sounds like a lot of guys were doing that back then with the new tools available to them, but without any real idea of how they'd age, and often in order to hit deadlines.
