  1. OMG. My bad. I did mix up the pictures. I had submitted an Avengers #1 as well, and my back cover picture is from that submission. Here's the back of the Avengers #4. It doesn't have anything missing from the back cover, so my bad. I confused the "piece missing out margin last page" with the back of my Avengers #1. Anyway, I ended up selling it on Ebay for a little over $700, so I'm happy. (That Avengers #1 sold for a little over $1600, so I'm happy about that, too).
  2. I'm still waiting for my second copy of Young Men #24 to show up. I submitted two, with one supposed to go to pressing before grading. It's been just over four months since I submitted it (3/14/23) and it still shows "Scheduled for Grading" (submission # 4220035). The last response from CGC is that I must have submitted the same comic twice on my packing slip? In other words, they didn't lose it because it never existed. I'm not disgruntled. I'm just seriously afraid to submit anything else and I was just getting started with submitting my collection. UPDATE 7/25/2023: I just received an email from CGC that they will "be in touch with me shortly about starting a claim on this book, as this should have been long since out the door." So I'm happy and feel ready to submit some more comics. I guess I shouldn't have been so worried about it, since CGC does have a good reputation. All is well.
  3. I meant that the pages were cream to off-white, and none were loose or missing. The "piece missing out margin last page" was actually a clean cut of about 1" on the outside edge of the back cover. Maybe since it was the cover, it was treated as a more serious defect. In any event, it presents nicely. Here's the back view...
  4. I have an Avengers #4 (first Silver Age Captain America) graded 2.0 and the only grader comment was, "Piece missing out margin last page." It's a really nice looking cover and I thought the interior was nice, too. I'm not sure why it graded so low, but maybe that piece affected the story? I don't know because I bought this online at a reasonable price - but now I'm wondering how it got such a low grade. the CGC number is 0121531002. Any thoughts on why it might have graded so low?
  5. Wanna hear a more recent horror story? I submitted 3 copies of Ultimate Fallout #4 (1st printing) - all of them polybagged. I was under the impression that polybagged would be getting higher grades because to me the polybag represented some form of protection. I just now see that they have been shipped and the grading is available online for me to see. My jaw dropped.... Ultimate Fallout 4 10/11 Marvel Comics 8.0 WHITE crease left top of back cover breaks color Ultimate Fallout 4 10/11 Marvel Comics 6.5 WHITE polybag crease back cover, polybag crease front cover, wear full bottom of back cover, bends to cover Ultimate Fallout 4 10/11 Marvel Comics 9.2 WHITE polybag crease back cover, polybag crease front cover
  6. Hi NickiO, I think you misunderstood my question. I wasn't referring to the grading tiers. I was referring to the "estimated value" that one has to provide when submitting comics for grading. For instance, if I assume a comic that I submitted is valued at $10K, because my assumption is based on it being graded 9.8 and fmv for a comic in 9.8 is indeed around $10K, then all is well - but what if (based on my lack of experience grading) I "overestimated" that value because the actual grade turns out to be 7.5? Let's assume for the sake of argument that the comic in CGC 7.5 has a fair market value of only $5K. Does the difference in fees charged for grading a $10K comic versus a $5K comic get reimbursed to my account? (3% of 10K grading fee is $300 and 3% of 5K is only $150) ...do I get reimbursed for the difference between what I was charged for my overestimation?
  7. I recently submitted over a dozen comics for screening, pressing and grading. Being a newbie as far as grading and estimating a value of my comics, I assigned values to some of the rarer comics that may be more (or less) than the current market value, based on whatever the final grade is. My question is, "How does CGC charge (or refund) for differences in estimated value versus the CGC-graded current market value of a given submission?" I'm sure that if I underestimated, CGC would somehow inform me and ask for the additional $$ - but what about the case where I may have overestimated? Does CGC inform me and send a refund to my credit card? In the case of multiple submissions/differences in values, do the estimations get summarized and applied to the single order number? That would make sense, but since I have no history of submissions, I just don't know how it works. Thanks for your reply.
  8. Thanks KaileeS CS! As you may have guessed. I'm somewhat of a newbie, as far as submitting my comics for grading. I'll be glad to see them recieved. I'll be patient and keep an eye out for my order to be in the system. I do see two of my orders that I marked show up recently, so I'm sure this order will eventually, too!
  9. I followed the instructions for packing and shipping, then printed the address label without noticing the "note" above the Print button that mentioned: ***Note: Clearly and boldly write WK on all sides of the shipping box. These packages will be prioritized. All of the comics I submitted as walk-through but without the marking on the outside box, will these be put aside with the slower processing?
