  1. The instruction manuals will get slabbed without the benefit of receiving a grade (scroll down the page). Not sure if the same could be done for guidebooks. Not sure if it's done for signature series only?
  2. Bought over 100 books from Jared. All arrived safe & as described. Would not hesitate to buy from again.
  3. Agreed. I don't think that the timeline of events in the Marvel 616 universe should dictate the 1st appearance of a character in the universe which I live & read comics. Too many flashbacks, issue #0, issue #-1 and such to muddy the waters.
  4. If you guys haven't checked it out yet, there is a thread in the Golden Age section entitled "My 50 year junk obsession". The OP has started showing off some of his non-magazine Mad-related items (starts on pg. 83). It's a great thread from start to finish if you like seeing pop culture items of all types, but I thought the Mad stuff would be appreciated by this crowd.
  5. Who gets tired of carrying around comic books?
  6. If only photobucket worked right now... Well that was unfortunate. Not sure if the site is doing any better.
  7. Someone decided that these books were no longer worth keeping, so they took them to Half Price Books. Works for me. All #1 issues in fantastic shape. No other issues present from any of the runs.
  8. Can't remember if this has already been posted. A new way to save up for the next convention. The IG bank!
  9. Something a bit different for my collection. A fanzine from 1970 with a Neal Adams pencil sketch on the front ... ... and this illustration by Tom Fisher on the back. This issue includes an unpublished Starhawk story by Roy Thomas (intended for Marvel Super Heroes?), an unpublished(?) Medusa drawing by Barry Smith & a Marie Severin Marvel Christmas montage. It also makes mention of a new Marvel black-and-white magazine called Savage Tales, with the first issue expected to hit the shelves on Jan. 12th.
  10. Yes, it was a good sale. Lots of product, especially in the Napervile store. I probably saw you there. I was very surprised at what was available this time around. Didn't think I would buy anything, then left with a box full of goodies. Perhaps I'll put them up here later.... I missed preview night, but I did pick up a few nice reprint issues (Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Tales, Marvel's Greatest Comics). And there was quite an extensive selection of early CBMs.
  11. When the card market crashed and all of those folks came over to comics.
  12. Even though I'm a Marvel guy, this was one arc I had to complete. If you are into reading comics, I think it's worth getting all four issues.
  13. JUL140106 GRENDEL VS SHADOW #1 $5.99 I have not been excited for a modern in a loong time. When was the last new Grendel material? 2007? And that was an anthology series. Good news indeed.
  14. A few of my purchases from Wizard World Chicago last night: That last one may not be a comic magazine, but I'm very excited to have it nonetheless. I know I bought that exact mag off the stands as a pre-teen (I think I still have remnants of my original copy). Like many, I pulled that thing apart and hung every photo around my room. To find a copy with the pull-out calendar still intact was a welcome surprise.
  15. That Marvel calendar is sweet. Quite an eclectic week for me. I believe the Love & Death is a 1st print softcover (I've read there is a 2nd?). Could have sworn it used to be listed in Overstreet, but I looked through the first 14 before giving up. SOTI was first listed in #9 & POP in #10. The listings in #10 say to "See 'Love and Death'", but I couldn't find it. Must be getting old.
  16. Is that the one you actually ment. That's the one I thought of too. Didn't realize #5 had a 2nd print.
