  1. I think it was owned by Lamont Larson at one point.
  2. I've seen a blatantly trimmed GA book in a CBCS universal holder. I notified Steve with no response. The top of that Detective sure looks trimmed to me.
  3. I agree with this and advocate that anyone and everyone dump their lousy Russ Heath war art. Just terrible stuff. Sell it to me for cheap.
  4. His lesser known cousin, Willy Foreskin, went on a different career path...
  5. This is such a great early GA book. It really captures that brief moment where all the publishers were trying to figure out what would work.
  6. I've been wondering what a high-grade copy of this one would look like. The attempts to bronze the outline make it look grubby & worn, but you can see how rich and clean that purple background is. Outstanding stuff!
  7. Not typically a fan of puns, but this is excellent.
  8. I took these a while back, from Fighting Man Annual 1 IIRC.
  9. It seems like Canadian variants for pulps are not uncommon at all. It also seems that it's completely willy nilly how you determine whether or not one is Canadian. Some have a different price, some have Canadian edition stamped on the cover, some must only have mention on the title page.
  10. Nice Schomburg horror illustration inside this one. Thanks to Dwight for the killer copy.
  11. There are three tells to me that this is a scam by the seller. 1) he uses the term "we" when referring to himself. is it just me, or does every scumbag on these boards refer to themselves in this manner. 2) his name involves Jesus. Seems that anyone who names themselves in a religious manner is usually trying to do so to do people into thinking that they are a decent person. I know I know, it's probably more a reference to Kanye, but the principle still stands. 3) he refunded the money immediately without spending much time to look for the book. This being the only real serious point of my post, it's very telling. If I were in his shoes I would tear my house apart for days before I sent the money back. I would let the seller know that I was doing so. And ultimately if I was unable to find the book after an intensive search I would then, and only then, refund the money. on the other hand, if I was trying to Welch out of a sale, I would just refund the money and say I can't find the book.
  12. Not necessarily. In fact, you are less diversified in this scenario. If you have 500 books, you're probably more protected against market fluctuations than if you have 5 books.
  13. There are pros and cons to both scenarios. There are more buyers for a $100 book than a $1000 book just based on price. However, the $1000 book may have more salability. The $100 book has more room for growth, but the $1000 book may be more likely to grow. Ultimately, you should buy what you like. Parrino was buying in a different market.
  14. Dealer wise, I think Mr. Bedrock is the only person I've never had a disagreement with. Collectors, many more that I trust.
  15. The top margin of the Thrilling Mystery is already tattered. It's amazing that any of them made it in high grade.
