  1. Yeah, this was a unique auction. I considered this a once in a generation opportunity to get some cool books. I've been collecting Foxes since the 1990s and have never had a chance at a Lou Fine Church. Maybe some of these will get flipped, maybe not. But I wasn't going to risk it.
  2. Man, that's probably in my top 5 nostalgia books. What an awesome pickup!
  3. Can someone tell me what the Cap 1 finished at?
  4. Fantastic 2. I figured I'd better win one at the beginning so I wasn't disappointed! The Wonderworld 10 may be my 2nd favorite in the run after the 7. I'm giddy about that.
  5. Finishing out with a total of 2 Church Foxes.
  6. I was the underbidder. It's a great looking copy, but a recent 7.0 went for under $800. I didn't see the extra 50% in this copy.
  7. Pretty spectacular, no? That probably pushes the whole run up to around $500K. I never would have guessed the Church run of Fantastic Comics would be worth that.
  8. I know where at least 2 of them ended up. I wouldn't be surprised if the 21 & 22 went to the same place given the Hitler theme, but that's purely speculation.
  9. Somehow I lost the #1, I think that was $63K 2 -- 9609 3 -- 243000 4 -- 6409 5 -- 23956 6 -- 8009 7 -- 7266 21 -- 15200 22 -- 26609 Those are the ones I had in my watch list.
  10. I was mainly tracking golden age art. I didn't win anything despite bidding more aggressively than I typically do. This vintage of art went for very strong prices across the board, IMO. A lot of it went for 50-100% more than similar stuff has sold for recently on Heritage or Clink. That applies mainly to panel pages, but I think that a lot of his panel pages were either higher quality or rarely seen items/artists. The covers and splashes went for closer to what I'd expect, covers being right in line with expectations (except the Planet 1, I really didn't know what to expect on that, but I'm not surprised at the price at all). The splashes were maybe 10-20% higher on average.
  11. 10 years ago I would have thought $25K to be high. Now I feel $243K is a little low. Not sure how to make sense of all this!
  12. I think you could argue it both ways. 3 minutes gives you time to deliberate, as well as move on or get distracted. HA gives you a shorter time which allows for less rational decision making and adrenaline-driven bidding. The problem I have with comicconnect is the inability to isolate bidding. When there are lots varying in closing time due to extended bidding, things get crazy to track & I find things lost in the shuffle. It hasn't been a problem for me before when I chose only a few things to go after. But with a few hundred items I like, many within the same title, it's a little crazy.
