  1. I have to say, your 4 and 5 have made me very pessimistic that I'll ever own a copy of either issue due to the discrepancy in color. I've seen some 4s out there with nice reds, but I've never seen a 5 comparable to yours.
  2. As a tough one-shot loaded with Kirby art it's certainly a key Timely. Wasn't that the last Church book Chuck parted with? I think his copy might have been restored as well, iirc. I've heard rumors about Chuck's Church book, but it's doubtful it would've gotten a blue label with obvious resto. My Billy book is clean and supple with nice PQ and no apparent resto. It was probably pressed before being submitted to HA by the then current owner, but that's par for the course these days... The Church copy is a blue label 9.0... I'm having trouble finding the obvious resto... Having graded that book, I can tell you there was absolutely no restoration on it. It has a small spine split on it, keeping it from ever grading any higher. I was being facetious.
  3. I'm a big fan of Bard's work on Minute Man... JB has the splash page to this story, I had to settle for the measly conclusion.

  5. Beauty - held it in my hands, had some bleed through on the back cover if I remember correctly. They had that copy available for year and years, glad you finally ended up with it Dan. Yup. 9.2-9.4 with tiny stains on bc. Kept the price reasonable without affecting desirability imo.
  6. Blazing! Is that the Larson? Good lord that thing is nice. Yeah. It's incredibly nice. Looks brand new.
  7. Surely you blew less than $57 on a cheap date and a case of Natty Light in college...
  8. It is hard to post anything about CGC cases right now without folks finding all kinds of hidden meaning in every word. Let's just say that for the time being I am having a lot of fun cracking books out of every kind of holder; new, old, voldemort, all of them. I didn't mean to imply that I was searching for a hidden meaning it just struck me as curious. I guess I'm use to seeing you grade books that you held raw for years so this was interesting especially with $20k books. I'm all for it as I cracked out my whole high grade SA/BA collection of mostly pedigree books and I loved seeing them in mylars, I really hate slabs in general. Anyways, I love your taste in books. A panoramic shot of a few of the recent crack-outs...
  9. New Hampshire copies. Not recognized by CGC for some reason, but the other guy recognizes them as a pedigree.
  10. VERY true!! I've had more luck finding Peps recently +2... Pep has dominated the MLJ market for so long - and they have become so expensive - it seems that collectors are in the process of discovering other MLJ titles (e.g., Blue Ribbon, Top Notch, and Zip). In an article I wrote for one of Overstreet's GA updates some 20 year ago, it was mentioned how scarce the MLJ's are and I believe that still holds true today. If anything, over time MLJ's have become even more difficult to obtain. That's because someone is hoarding all the sweet sweet copies...
  11. Nah, I was asking because it's the only Canadian book I've ever really been interested. Goes back to reading Mr. Monster as a kid.
  12. What about Super Duper 3? Where does that fit into the pantheon of Canadian GA books?
  13. I'd love to see more of this one. Lots of Wood elements in there and a hint of Toth. Is the artist listed? Couldn't find a signature. Here are a couple of interior pages... Clearly neither Toth nor Wood, but what a strange strange book! Thanks for sharing.
