  5. Those are beautiful. I've got the bottom two, I've never run across the others in decent shape for a price I wanted to pay. I may need to get around to scanning my copies. I think I got my KCO 107 around 1996, my RK 22 around 2006, and my KCO 100 in 2016. A decade per book seems fair, no?
  6. KCO is a true monster book, the guy is an alien just like on the cover. I'd put RK 22 as the next most "monsterish" and I'll concede on the other two. But TGK 58 has a lame cover IMO and the story failed to do anything for me when I did own a copy or two, while KCO 100 just has a spectacular cover. The completionist in me is torn...

  8. I picked up very little in SD, but I did find a very nice Kid Colt 100 which now puts me at having 3 of the 4 Pre-Hero Marvel monster/westerns in nice shape. I don't think I'll ever pay up for a 2GK 56, having had one I struggle to consider it a true "monster" book. But if a sharp copy fell into my lap on the cheap, I wouldn't turn it down.
  9. I wouldn't argue with you on most points, but Black Cat 50 is really a great image, and CSS 22 has such a tremendous historical value as well as being over the top. Read "10 Cent Plague" and you'll realize how that cover in particular changed the entire history of comics. Oh you'll get no argument from me that those that viewed this on the stands in the 50's were probably shocked, but the art? Well, that is where we'll have to agree to disagree It's not Frazetta, but it has a solid "comic art" quality to it. Elias has been compared to Caniff, and I can't disagree. Black Cat Mystery 50 was drawn by Warren Kremer. I may be wrong, but I thought the current belief is that is Lee Elias working from a Kremer layout. If it's signed Elias then it's Elias based on a Kremer design. I don't see much reason to attribute the unsigned ones to Elias when Kremer was the primary designer and very talented in his own right. GCD saye Elias for both. I see Elias in the finish, Kremer in the eyes.

No argument on the historical impact of CSS 22, but I don't see what you're seeing if you think the cover Black Cat 50 is a great image. It looks very sloppy and amateurish to me. Oh yeah? Well, that's like... your OPINION, man!

  14. I'm having troubles understanding this post I have a Tec 1 and 27 plus a Bat 1 you follow that. I did not want to send the books thru the mail for the reason Wayne-Tec posted lost lost and lost. I drove to pgx 500 miles away to get them graded rather than take a chance of lost in the mail. Is that better MetalPSI You lost me at PGX With books of this value any 3rd party grade is better than the seller only opinion right. Not with PGX
  15. To give an idea of what happens with census data, here are most of the early FH titles arranged by cover date. You can see with most there is a normalization of the census (again, both CGC and raw HA) once you get beyond the first few issues. At that point, desirability and salability really control the data and it's hard to get a real grasp on how common something is or isn't.
  16. Absolutely. I can't wait for mmehdy's list. It will probably have 12 and 19 on it I can't give an order, but I'd do a grouping. Relatively easy to find: 1, 3, 4, 7, 9 More difficult: 8 Most difficult 2, 5, 6, 10 with a nod to 6 as the toughest. As of 1/16, here are the numbers of each (unique) on the CGC census and raw in the HA archive 1 - 49 2 - 27 3 - 32 4 - 24 5 - 17 6 - 18 7 - 19 8 - 23 9 - 17 10 - 17 So this would suggest that 2 is less rare than thought and 7 & 9 are rarer than consensus. But there has to be some controlling for desirability, value, etc.

  18. I ran the census/HA numbers on early FH titles a while back. Rangers 2 was the least seen IIRC. That whole 2-3 month window of books seem uncommon, but Rangers 2 and Fight 15 seemed toughest.
