  1. Awful presumptuous isn't he? That's super-insecurity.
  2. Wait...you're making a post about yourself? I can't believe it! Thanks Buttock, I wanted to say the same thing but didn`t want to be accused of being harsh on the newbie. I think you may have already pointed his narcissism out in the past. I'm hoping that with multiple individuals calling him out it will stop...unlikely.
  3. I was amazed to see this cover. I wrote for CREEPY, EERIE, and VAMPIRELLA, with a few stories in HOUSE OF MYSTERY...but THIS issue has a letter from me in the letter column! Here's one of the many pages about me on the net... http://karws.gso.uri.edu/jfk/Conspiracy_theories/Brennan--Conjurella/Brennan.html Best, T. Casey Brennan Wait...you're making a post about yourself? I can't believe it!
  4. I really don't know what they were thinking of when they came up with this cover. Nice set of books! They weren't.
  5. It was #2 for me. I can't believe it finished in the 30s.
  6. don't tell anyone but I still speak old-timey grades too. I'm waiting for nice VGs of the Showcase run. The MM1 is somewhat notorious for being hard to find in grade, but I don't know how valid that is. It is a 1963 book though.
  7. When I was a kid my friend and I would skateboard about 5 miles to the only shop in town that had any back issues (a bookstore) and drool over the stuff. One day they got a huge SA DC collection - all VGish stuff and we spent ALL of our money there over the next year or so. The books I remember most were Metal Men 2-10, but I never got a #1. Years later, another shop opened up run by some fat sow with a terrible attitude (typical bad comicshop owner - snooty, hooked on anime & RPGs) and the only book of interest she had was a Metal Men #1 - about GVG. I asked her the price and she said she had a friend who was coming in to grade all her back issues. I waited a month and came back and asked here if she had a price and she said no. I offered her VG guide and she told me to, "watch my instant gratification". I left and never patronized her shop again. She went out of business within a year. Today I got this bad boy in, so to you mrs. comicshop owner: up yours you porky mouth-breathin dumplin.
  8. I bought one book and it was tan with tan inside covers. That being said, he did go as far as to mention it in the auction, and your book has no mention of that. Your cover also doesn't look tan, so I think you're pretty safe.
  9. yeah, he sent a friggin' giant scan so i felt confident in bidding hellishly over guide. by the time it gets here i'll have learned how to post scans to the boards and will put up a copy. Grading is reasonable, but all the books have borderline paper
  10. good God i want that book. congrats on a nice pickup! Thanks alot Sal! I have been wanting this book for awhile. I am not 100 percent certain, but I think this may have been one of the only books Jay Scott Pike ever did. Too bad as he was definitely a talented artist as the cover indicates. Pedigree has had one with cream colored pages on their site for awhile for 300. I got this one with off-white pages for a little less than that which i feel is a good deal considering there are only 4 9.4's in the census and three 9.6's. None of these ever come up for sale as they are like me and intend on keeping it in their permanent collections. Once it arrives and if it looks as sharp as the bigger scan I have, it might get the re-submit treatment with the hopes for a 9.6 as it might get the old label boost alot of books seem to get. Have to see and wait though. Scott Pike did a lot of stuff for Atlas in the 50s. Nothing like that though. Great book!
  11. Jon, I made an even better version of your photo.
  12. Nowhere near as nice as Adamstrange's MIS, ( ) but a nice purple DC nonetheless.
  13. If you're counting photos, Arrow #3 has a photo of hitler on the cover.
  14. You should check out the DVD set. Some of the scenes that didn't make it are better than the real stuff. It's one of 2 TV shows that I make an effort to watch (the other is The Shield).
  15. I was underbidder on this one... Got a dupe you want to sell?
  16. Just got mine in from comiclink, I definitely have suspicions re: pressing. Although it's a 52 pager in a tight holder, so without holding the book pre-slabbing it's hard to tell.
  17. Awesome books, I love the SSWS 144 & 145. Eventually I'll get around to buying those two...
  18. I agree. Metro has a very sharp VF- #14 with some CT that I thought about for a long time, but then I stumbled across my copy with white pages and got it for a song. Overall, I think I'm much happier with the lower grade unrestored book.
