  1. Those are probably partial washtones. The background definitely looks like the effect was used, similar to All Star Western 109.
  2. I’ve passed on that pulp twice before, couldn’t let it go a 3rd time!
  3. Take VOH 35 & SSS9 per PM also!
  4. Take this, terror tales 9, shock 2 & shock 13
  5. I’m glad you sell stuff every now and then.
  6. If this were x-men or batman related I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go nuts. But vintage art doesn’t typically have the volatility of the newer market, so I think a more linear growth is reasonable to expect. Double value in 7 years is really solid growth, so I think $60-75k is a fair expectation. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go lower or higher. Again, the underbidder will determine the price. One guy with deep pockets or insatiable nostalgia isn’t good for an auction. Two is. Unless you know who’s bidding, it’s all a guess.
  7. That’s the comp that I can’t get past. I understand that this image might sit better with a broader audience, but WM4 is a more iconic cover IMO. At least to comic people.
  8. Yeah. FMV for a unique item is determined by the underbidder. If they’ve got deep pockets, it’s anybody’s guess. But if you were putting a retail price on it...
  9. Dope Slaves must be referring to the interior pages as it was a one shot.
  10. I agree. Just because you can pay $10K for a comic doesn't mean you can pay $100k for art. But I'm curious if this is being sold by Glenn Danzig, or if he's going to be in the bidding pool.
  11. 1) outstanding copy of a very difficult book 2) what's that notation on the label? 'down 1-jrs' How odd.
  12. JIM 117 strikes me as more of a generic war cover and is from '65 when Vietnam was escalating from an occupation to a response to an "attack on the US", at least in the public's eye. Public perception would be, "Hey, Thor's helping the troops!" It's cartoony to the point of silliness (the guy with the mortar is dropping the round in backward...) Cap 125 is 5 years later, more gritty, and now well into the era of protest against the war. This is post-Tet, Nixon is in office, and the US public wants us out. The art is much starker and realistic, to the point of almost being subversive when you consider the fact that it's Captain freaking America about to get stabbed in the back!
  13. Just wanted to chime in about how much I like this piece. It's really unique. You can see why Marvel didn't use it, it's just way too charged. And that's what makes it incredible. Congrats on owning it.
