  1. I've noticed a lot of these messed up links myself. It appears to be happening a lot when something was linked to something that is within the site and automatically embedded. Here is an example of a random link I posted to a book in the grading forum: and here is that same link without the embedded and "display as a link instead" selected. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/414193-pgm-daredevi-1/ An easy to find example would be @1Cool signature (which should be a link to his kudos thread.)
  2. The black circle with the X in it to the upper right of the note when you click on it.
  3. I did. It's a nice little extra. It'd be even more cool if the notes showed up when you viewed the picture in the larger field (what I believe is called the lightbox). Also, is there any way to delete a note once it has been added?
  4. It looks like the upgrade this morning changed the hover popup, it is now a permanent box at the top of the pictures in the users main gallery. Here is a screen shot of what mine looks like now. (Red arrows point toward the boxes I'm referring to.) Pretty Cool. This might be the closest thing to an actual booth template that we've had.
  5. I think it's pretty intuitive. It's basically like using the reply field we have now. But like most things with the new boards, I think there is a learning curve. Creation seems to go pretty quick though once you're familiar with the ins and outs. It appears that once you create your Gallery, it's there until you want to move it (or delete it). There is an option to move your gallery from one specific section to another (ex. From Test Galleries to Member Galleries and so forth) but I haven't tried it yet. The images that you save in the gallery can also be moved to different sections of the boards using the "Insert other media" box at the bottom right of the reply field. This is a good option for people who like to have a regular sales thread after the VCC or perhaps even transition from a regular sales thread into the VCC with relative ease. From what I can tell, the images that you save in the gallery stay hosted there until you remove them. I know in the Gallery Test Area, it says that this section may be cleaned out periodically, but that's the only area that it says that in. @Architecht might be able to answer better about the time frame of site hosted images.
  6. If you hover over the image a small pop-up appears at the top of the image. This pop-up shows a small bit (the first few words) of the caption that the seller puts up when they upload the image. Although I didn't do it this time, you put the price at the very beginning of the caption, so all a potential buyer would need to do is hover over the image. If they are intrigued enough, they could then click on the photo to see it fully displayed with a more detailed description, additional photos or scans... any info. that a seller would want to put for the books or books.
  7. This is interesting. Still not as good as buyers browsing thumbnails all in one single thread but definitely worth checking out. I created a gallery and I'll be playing around with it. At first glance it seems like this would be less work than the traditional method of saving scans to a third party image hosting site and then copy/pasting code here. I've been working on a "Test" Booth... It's by no means complete, but check it out and tell us what you think.
  8. Dan purchased more than a few magazines from my recent sales thread. He paid quickly and communication was great.
  9. Actually set up a gallery. Sent a message to Arch, but the sort ordering in the Gallery is based on text strings, not numeric order. So for my Tales of Suspense 1-38 run, I had to label the Caption as "Tales of Suspense 01", "Tales of Suspense 02" so they showed up in the right numerical order. Otherwise ToS 2 showed up between ToS 19 and ToS 20. I can't figure out how to do a mass Caption edit (just roll from one to the next). Also the in-picture Caption editing didn't reliably work, so I had to edit each one to get the sequencing right. Probably something I was missing. Think the max per gallery is 500 and you can only upload 100 at a time. Probably okay for VCC needs. Other than that, it was easy & pretty intuitive. Output quality is better than I expected ! -bc I haven't been on it as extensively as that yet, but I'm looking forward to discovering the ins and outs of how it works and what can be accomplished. I'll probably try to create a faux VCC BOOTH and then share my results with everybody. btw, Nice TOS run @bc
  10. Looks very clean. I like it. I like it very much as well.
  11. I agree with both of you. The VCC has been dwindling even before the board switch over, but the switch over surely hasn't helped. Having a fairly active sales forum is a good thing, but is definitely detrimental to the VCC. When the VCC started, the sales forum was less active and the board membership was much smaller thus making it easier to band together and create an active VCC. There are also restrictions when using the VCC that you just don't get in a regular sales forum, image size restricted to thumbnails and all "I'll Take It's" being done via PM are the big ones, imo, but are necessary to maintain the atmosphere of a real-life ComicCon that the VCC has been trying to emulate. Without them, we might as well just rename the "Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area" the "VirtualComicCon". The one thing that might help the VCC, as many others have alluded to over the years, would be to close down the Forum Only Selling Area for the days of the VCC, but even if that was a possibility (which it never has been) I believe it would go over like a ton of bricks. It might drive buyers to the VCC for the few days of the VCC but would it really make sellers plan ahead and set up a booth for just two days? I doubt it, and the backlash of perturbed boardies would be enough to kill the thought of ever doing it again. One of the reasons I proposed the rule change listed in this poll was to help put sellers back into the VCC by allowing them another venue to hawk their wares without the fear of retribution that accompanies doing so against board rules. I know from reading ALL the past VCC Discussion threads that some dealers/potential sellers choose not to participate in the VCC because it's not worth the potential loss of sales if they have to pull their items from other venues to list it in a VCC booth for two days. They don't hate the VCC and they love the community here, but the risk is just not worth the reward. My hope was to ease this restriction, increase their potential reward, and with their participation in the VCC, increase the views that all the other booths may get when they are setup next to one another. However, from the looks of the poll, that is a rule change that the board is not ready for. Change is hard and I get it. The option is out there though, and should be closeted for now but not thrown out.
