  1. It is interesting/bizarre that image would send three of these to one individual.....the only back story was that this seller found an envelope of these in his attic?
  2. Netflix has more subscribers than HBO, in the US anyway. I assume you were talking in terms of content quality though. If you do some digging through financial statements, you'll find out there's actually very little content NFLX owns. They license it, and it's not their property. Unlike Game of Thrones, which is entirely owned by HBO. And using GOT again, their 24 million or whatever viewers is pretty significant considering NFXL won't publish individual show numbers. I would like to know how many NFLX users are exclusive House of Card viewers? Probably nowhere near Game of Thrones. Nflx has a brilliant business model for consumers, terrible for business. And when that 6 billion in content off-balance sheet liabilities become realized, you better (the consumer) have an alternative to NFLX in mind.
  3. I flipped through it last time I was at the LCS....seemed pretty .
  4. No little porkers running their fingers all over them? Nice grab, I have my eye on a local estate sale coming up in two weeks....If I check it out I'll let you guys know.
  5. As well they should be. With copies in 9.8 selling at $1000+ buyers are obviously thinking press and fast track and relist. A 9.6 consolation is a win too and 9.4 is borderline break even. I still think 9.8s are going to be hard to manufacture There has been exactly 1 sale for a CGC 9.8 copy in $1,000 so far, so saying it's "selling at $1000+" seems a bit premature. There's no question this book is blazing hot, but there's no chance a $1k price tag on a 9.8 is sustainable in the long run - the print run is too big and it's never been that hard to find in 9.8. After the recent price surge, the CGC census is going to explode. Spoken like a guy who missed the boat. There was a SS9.8 that sold for 1300 the other night. Why is it that every time someone suggests a book might correct in price, someone else suggests the comments are related to sour grapes. This board has the maturity of teenagers, at times.
  6. There would be interest in some of the other ashcans if they weren't mass produced. I recall seeing a Savage Dragon/Turtles ashcan that was very rare and sold for a decent chunk.
  7. Nice Chaos Effect Alpha Red! (thumbs u Make me an offer on that book...since you're following me around, board-to-board. Yes, I'm following you, but I'm also using time travel... that's why I got here 7 years before you. You probably don't want my offer... let's just say it wouldn't be my first CEAR slab, and I don't pay a lot for dupes. But a Green Label? I should charge a premium given the majority on the census are blues..
  8. Yes those higher books are in demand, but a set will always sell for $100 easy. Nice haul.
  9. Nice Chaos Effect Alpha Red! (thumbs u Make me an offer on that book...since you're following me around, board-to-board.
  10. Some decent books in there...my eyes are failing me, what's the numbers on the Voices?
  11. I should add I've had these for awhile, just got around to grading them.
  12. Well I think the demand has always been static, but because there's so little activity (so few sales because they're so damn rare), you don't hear much about them.
  13. Haha you must live in Vancouver. I went up for a concert and didn't know the area and my buddy got us a hotel on Hastings St. I'm surprised I'm still alive.... Harley Quinn's run look to be selling for $5-10 an issue. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harley-Quinn-1-38-COMPLETE-SET-NM-MT-HTF-HOT-1st-PRINT-HoT-HTF-DC-Comics-/151140995683?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2330b49263 I'm guessing you went to the Rickshaw theatre? It's unfortunate because a lot of the best Metal shows happen there, but it's in an awful part of town. I once knew a guy who became a police officer and got assigned that "beat". He promptly quit after finding a severed head sitting in the gutter, all casual, like it was a discarded pop bottle. There was another theatre in that part of town (fireshouse I believe) that I had volunteered at while living in Vancouver. Not sure if it's still there, I remember it being a block or two from hastings, and another block from some crazy expensive apartments.
  14. Just thought I'd bump this thread...with these! (sorry for the lousy photo)
  15. I agree with Dukes. At the arena here I've seen dozens of parents bring babies (toddlers/newborns) to games and events. Horrible parenting. I think you need to do what's best for your child, if your plans with the sitter fall apart, then don't go!
  16. Possibly, possibly not. Same thing as takeing a kid that young to Disney World (I think it's a waste, personally). It's more for the moment, I guess, than the memories. Ya, it's not safe for them because rude, inconsiderate people decide it's cool to not watch where they're going, bump in to other people, hog space, etc. Don't want to put words in Jimmy's mouth, but I think he's talking about the pedophiles and other creeps that populate a comic con rather than rude people. And he's right, they attend cons. You have to be vigilant and think about what environment you are in before you let your kids go off alone. Wow, I totally didn't get that from Linguinni's post. Jimmy, is THAT what you were reffering too??? Is this a problem at the big conventions you guys go to??? I think parents should safeguard there kids, regardless, but is this another peril I'm going to have to worry about soon??? GEEZ. And Woogie, are you saying that out of the comic-guy/girl population, there's a lot of the creep-o's, or that non-comic creep-o's specifically target these things, knowing that they'll have kids, a hectic/chaotic atmosphere, etc??? Heres a local one, http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2009/07/17/10164001-sun.html he sets up at conventions in Ontario as 'Comics, Cards, Toys'. Wow! And now another great reason why not to use a comic store washroom.
  17. mid season break under 1500 maybe. market is crazy. but no way ba 12 will hit 2 g's. most harley fans would rather use that money at hot topic or improving their cosplay outfit. So, in your opinion, the people driving up the prices on BA12 are Harley cosplayers? Interesting theory. Right now, I would rather have four copies of BA 12 than one WD 1. nope. cosplayers dont buy comics. was saying harleys fans are mostly cosplayers. This is true. Cosplayers and children shouldn't even be at cons I wouldn't go that far, cons can be enjoyed on different levels, if someone wants to dress up as their favorite character, so be it. and if parents want to bring their kids what's wrong with that? It's superheroes after all. and in my experience parents do buy comics for their kids, it may be the $1 to $10 variety, but that's ok as well. Whats wrong with it? 1. Kids count for the count of people in the room, meaning if a convention sells out or is at capacity the kids are taking up the space of an adult. 2. people in cosplay do not buy comics 3. strollers in the way of alleys where people are walking 4. Cosplayers in alleys where people are walking taking pictures 5. Cosplayers bring out the worst in people, i.e. creepy old men taking pictures of there butts and posting it on an internet forum There is a lot wrong with Cosplayers and children at shows those are just my opening points. Also 6. Furries Jimmy, you should be looking to monetize these kids! I don't know, maybe re-market BBQ's! .
  18. I just snagged a solid NM copy of NonPlayer 1 first print today...I actually didn't know it was a first print or second print, so I opened it out of the bag, and looked at the inside. Haha. And then I struggled to put it back in the bag and felt obligated to buy it...... I grabbed some other image books for 50 cents a pop - morning glories, and a spattering of others. I figured what the hell 50 cents...
  19. Nice haul. Not sure if you know or not, but that BS is the much rarer newsstand. Some of them are vhtf.
  20. I was just curious, not a big deal. Sorry to have offended you, your highness. I guess you inferred I was being a donkey by your "highness" comment. Fair enough. Ballpark me, how much do you get paid at work? I'm just curious. I will tell you the price of any comic I paid, regardless of whether it's for sale or not. I was judging the merit of the find, I couldn't care less what someone paid. I once paid a record price (at the time) for one of the rarest moderns of all time, even though I know the seller paid $1 for it. The buyer should pay absolutely ZERO attention to what the seller accumulated it for. I've had a number of syndicated written investment articles, and the taboo of talking about money in society, leads to the widespread ignorance of how money functions in our society. And last I checked this forum is an internet board devoted to comics. If it was an employer-linked resource, and you were discussing a position in my field, I would tell you want I make. Absolutely.
  21. Nice finds...it's strange that someone would sell these on craiglists, he must have known about the keys? Can you give us a ballpark of what you snagged this at...? Somewhere between $1 and $1,000,000.00 Don't ask someone else their business, esp. on a public message board. What difference does it make? I was just curious, not a big deal. Sorry to have offended you, your highness.

  23. I found one several years ago and you thought Id won the lottery when I sold it. Had all types of PMs about it. Ive only see a couple of copies of 4 very hard to find. It's really just the #4. I would pay the $75 for a #4 9.8 candidate alone. Exactly. 1-3 can be had for around cover...#4 is VHTF...
  24. Just curious if you're affiliated with this company; I've never heard of Arden?
