  1. i say to 10 Coverless vs 1 cover. when buying a Coverless, do You ever expect to find a front cover FOR it?
  2. can we go away from the James J Johnson vs sfcityduck talk and discuss what Gator brought up: my gut was there is entry level demand in the 150-200k range for just about any decent copy If someone had a complete coverless and bought years ago for , say 25k, then 225k to get a “complete” copy ain’t shabby in today’s market. That’s my math if it sells for way more may simply be indicative of a couple of deep pocketed collectors that just want it. Who the heck knows
  3. End of discussion. there Won't be any chargeback games
  4. most of their mega key auctions tend to do well
  5. very good point but At The current Price level for mega keys. there will be pseudo collector-investor. those guys Will hold FOR 3-5 years and then resell. Disney at a minimal will do a better job then fox. good perception Will bring in The 35 years old (pseudo collector investor)
  6. I think ff1 should be equivalent or slightly more than hulk 1. Perception is a big deal in collecting. The perception of Fantastic Four was trashed by Fox. Disney can fix that.
  7. FF1 moving upwards currently but still has more room to grow. Especially once disney fixes the image of ff. Ff image and coolness was trashed by fox
  8. The winner can have sparkle city send it for grading (for peace of mind) and then send the slabbed version to the winner. The winner can deslab if he wants to enjoy it raw. Slabbing fee not that much relative to value of the book
  9. if it was a stronger 8.5 and also graded by cgc it might hit $130-140k
  10. +1, also gpa for the time being is lagging in data points. the 8.5 on cl ended at $121k, a record price for that grade and equivalent to hulk 1 8.5. I know of a few 7.0's that were sold for strong prices by dealers(also not on gpa)
  11. I was trying to say that but I got ran off the board as pushing the book
  12. when I use gpa for silver age keys, I know that it's missing about 70 per cent of data. it's missing dealer transactions, comiclink, comicconnect(when they want to report to gpa). it's missing lots of data. I'm confident when I use gpa for a bronze or copper keys, say hulk 181 or spidey 300 but when it comes to silver age keys, I'm hesistant.
  13. not much data to look At but The perception and feeling like a "top dog " applies to going from an 8.5 to 9.0. census numbers are similar but price is 2.27x more. rather have an A- grade vs B+ https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=682667 6 months later had The 9.0 sale
  14. https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=757561
  15. surprised that comicconnect would preview a 5.5 cap 1 while they have the 7.5 ending in 1 week or so. What's the rush in previewing the 5.5? If I was the 7.5 cosignor I would tell them to take the 5.5 to prevent any distraction. Close enough in grade and eye appeal to have an effect
  16. It does look nice. Probably reach $300k like the last 9.0. Freshly graded is right since have not seen any copy with that date stamp before.
  17. do you have any more group shots of other keys for this upcoming con season
  18. Cap 1-$400k, nuts but why not? There's an offer on heritage for an 8.5 for close to $400k, so nuts but not impossible
  19. true, but that educated flipper would really need to have a good handle on the market (or maybe have buyers lined up). I know a few guys that have restored major keys sitting in their inventory for more than a year while the unrestored ones were fluid. $50-100k tied up in inventory would be rough. I guess worst comes to worst, one can always move it at a loss if the educated guess was wrong
