  1. Right you are Bob. I remember that epic Clink auction and the surrounding "Pressgate" controversy.

  3. I used to collect sports cards. Trust me, these comics aren't rare. Pretty much anytime you want to buy one, you can, at any low to mid (even some higher) grades. Now the values and pricing are another thing, but the comics are readily available if you're willing to spend. Some sports cards on the other hand are truly "rare". I went 8 years looking for a specific card and never found it, still haven't. There are quite a few cards numbered to 100 copies or less. The ones out of 5 and 10 are truly difficult to locate, and after a year or two from release become near impossible. Scarcity in comics (from the SA anyways) doesn't really exist except if you are looking for very, very high grades. Agree 100%. And I'd go a step further to qualify that to Super-hero Marvel. There are no "rare" silver-age marvel comics. If you want it, you can get it, if you have the cash. DCs are much tougher pre-61. But not impossible. GA is another animal entirely... I've been looking for an All Select 4 for about 5 years now. Nothing has crossed my path even remotely in my price range. Only seen TWO copies for sale period. Both were high-grade.
  4. Speaking of just the true pre-65 keys. I think the order is something like this from most copies on census to least: DD1, X1, ASM1, AV1, AF15, TOS39, FF1, JIM83, IH1 and TTA27 Now, this doesn't give a true picture of "rarity", as there are only 373 copies of TTA27 on census vs over 2K for DD1. As far as scarcity goes, TTA27 and IH1 lead the pack by a wide margin. And even they are "available".
  5. Getting framed and going on my wall as soon as I get it. (thumbs u One of my favorites. Looks great in the frame. I need to get my act together and get mine framed. Do you need to use special glass so it doesn't fade? Im going to. I do that with all my art.
  6. That is a niiiiiice book David! Love it! Let me know when you get tired of it.
  7. Agreed. Why the hell are the main characters purple??? I love the content, but the coloring has always left me cold.
  8. Interesting. When was this printed? I'm guessing a couple years after the American version? Hulk is green. Has his trademark purple pants in the logo.
  9. I just called about my Fast Track Economy books, that STILL have not shipped. STILL have no grades. Books were put into the system on 4/26. By my estimation, that means these books are FORTY business days for Fast Track. So glad I paid for Fast Track... Notice that isn't noted on their website that Fast Track is at 40 days... So now I have to pay an extra 10 bucks a book to get normal Economy turnaround... Really frustrating...
  10. Sorry, I was totally joking. Probably not conveyed very well. (Though I would totally buy both of those books. )
  11. A boardie bought my low/mid grade copy a few months back. One of my favorite pre-heros.
  12. That mexican JIM 83 is sweet! And it looks like it came out about the same time as the American version. Cool book.
  13. Wow. Where there's something you don't see everyday... Amazing book!
  14. Nice! It's got both quotes, that's rare. Very rare...and I honestly had no idea how until I started really looking into these books. Very cool to get a copy with both of them. Congrats! How rare? I've heard that too but never really looked into it or anything. Here's my copy with both quotes! It's pretty uncommon. I've only seen a handful with both quotes. Don't really know how to quantify it, but if I had to make a wild guess, I'd say less than 10%. This one really doesn't qualify as it appears to only have part of the second quote.
  15. That is patently false. The seller sent me an invoice through PayPal for my purchase. I received my package within a week and left positive Kudos. My experience was perfectly normal and proper. As the seller is responding, perhaps this is just a case of late shipment and slow Aussie delivery. I hope so anyway. I can't imagine he would respond if he was duping anybody.
  16. Agreed - I haven't been able to track one down so far. I still own my 7.0 copy. One of the few JIMs I kept other than the 83. If you're interested, you might want to read this thread I did on JIM slab availability a couple years ago. The info is a little dated now, but it's still pretty interesting. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=170515&Number=3436506#Post3436506

  18. I used to know the exact breakdowns of copies on census when I was putting the run together, but that was a couple years ago. I know 91 is very tough above 7.0. And so is 93 and 94. 89 is fairly common. Most of the others in the 80s are fairly tough above 7.0.
