  1. Ospg is not market value. They have become more distanced every year. Gpa is an indicator of trends but as you surmised it is not always indicative of market value either. Supply/demand = price. In that equation is also sellers cost and sellers motivation to sell. All these factor into realized prices. So neither is right and neither is wrong. They are just approximations of what one might expect to pay (thumbs u
  2. Jb. I publicly accept your offer to buy all your centaurs!
  3. There are a lot of online dealers I would recommend. However pricing is a function of supply/demand/accurate grading / and cost eBay would not be a choice for me so I can't comment on which dealers are cheaper. That said there are a tremendous number of dealers that will ship to you. Check out the dealer list right here on the boards! It's the 4th pinned topic here in the golden age section..."list of golden age dealers"
  4. Yes you can promote in the comic market :sales and advertising section
  5. 26 is the toughest followed by 25 22 shouldn't be any tougher than 20-24 but it is so highly coveted it is likely the 3rd toughest to obtain I've owned 5 copies (4 at one time back in 2008/9), but the 2.5 was not one of them (2 were raw so one of them might be the 2.5 now) Expect to pay $1000+ a point these days to obtain a copy $6,000 for a 6.0 copy? if one existed...the mile high is the 9.0 I think... I own the 4.0 and the 3.5 is the cosmic aeroplane copy I sold to Win... the 2.5 is likely one of my raw copies... that's it, no more on the census...a 6.0 might not even exist

  7. tis no secret last year tampa con was only con I have ever lost money at...sales were dismal, mainly because I didn't have the right mix of books for that crowd... this year, I altered my selection, offering more bronze to modern, while still maintaining a good silver and gold selection... we had a great show... sold a sensation 1, and about 15 gold/silver books between $1000-4000 and sold a lot of bronze and copper raw books as well... was a great sales show, and one of the more profitable for us this year (low expenses helped)
  8. FYI I just sold a cgc 7.5 to a friend so I didn't maximize the retail of the book, but there are plenty of folks out there that can and will spend 30k+ on a copy of this book
  9. I just pulled my 7.5 from EBay. I want to see where this 2.0 lands. This book can hit 5k?!?! Where were you priced at? I assume north of $20K? 7.5 are 30k easy
  10. I've never owned a copy but if you want a copy and you think price is fair, seems like a pretty easy deal (thumbs u
  11. I don't use the guide to price books
  12. why wait for the Church copy to submit first? Just guessing here, but if the Church copy were to be graded as a 9.2 with CR/OW or OW pages, perhaps the owner of the other copy would hope that with superior page quality, their copy, even if less impressive overall, may get an equal or higher grade. Taking with folks that have seen the church copy, it is ow/w or w (likely the latter).
  13. I was too busy yesterday preparing for sd so I didn't even look at the guide beyond the action 1
  14. Mitch knows of many action 1 raw owners out there (as do many). I still would hedge the church copy is best existing until otherwise disputed
  15. A few folks mentioned that for a brief period of time a second action 1 in 9.0 was on the census (last year). It was removed, I'm sure at the request of the owner. Don't think it affects lower grade values one iota Maybe the owner was unhappy with the grade and wanted it to be pressed and regraded. The label was included. While the book is being graded, the certification number was removed from CGC census so the second 9.0 grade was omitted. I would suspect the current owner is hoping for the highest single graded on the census. Nope to the regrading ... Yes to hoping for highest graded. Presents better than the cage 9.0. Probably second only to the church copy at this point (although it's rumored there is another raw 9.0+ out there that is known and who knows the unknown. )

  17. probably Oct, after NYCC...I'm doing so many cons this year, I "need" the inventory... but will run a big sales thread pre holiday, post NYCC
  18. I would only take money out of a 5-6% return investment if you are prepared and able to lose it all by investing in a comic. Are there comics that return more than that? Of course. I buy and sell them all the time. But do I recommend a particular book...nope. I would only buy if you want the book and the return is secondary. The risk to most will outweigh the return on a single book (now a portfolio of books might better hedge a return)
  19. what's your most recent 'big GA purchase'? Most recent is a sensation 1
  20. My first big golden age purchase was In 1990. And it was an action 1 in gd/vg for 18k. Year long time payments
