  1. More demand relative to supply
  2. Growth in ww/sens keys , early key issues (2,6,7 etc) and 1950s ww issues have commanded price premiums for years. Rest pretty average
  3. hey Gator (or anyone else) are there any other titles that are currently in the midst of this scenario that are worth keeping an eye out for (in terms of potential price drop)? Most issues of all star continue to drop or stagnate. Adventure comics as a whole. All flash. Comic cavalcade. All great books and runs are fun to put together but not going to give you a great rate of return (or might even continue to decline) Various issues of Marvel mystery comics and young allies are selling at lower prices than years past
  4. why thank you bill (thumbs u I'm going to "ask bill" in "ask gator's" thread ... Bill, other than the Action 1-10 run from the ole lady around the corner, did any other major books walk in through your doors at More Fun? We had lots of great collections come into the store, but not that included major GA keys. Every SA key came in numerous times. Sometimes multiples at a time. GA collections would come in from time to time, but mostly non key issues. A Superboy #1 would be about the next level that walked in with an original owner. We bought lots of keys from collectors, so that any time you came in the store you were likely to have your pick of numerous GA key books. Cap 1, Supey 1, Batman 1, Tec 27, MF 52, etc when was that? pre 1970 ... ? Early to mid 90s. Bill was still pre playboy interest in the pre 70s
  5. Agreed. Mf52 didn't make my top 10 and might not make my top 20 or beyond anymore Yet, personally I love the book
  6. I don't think so. Especially the higher up you go grade wise. It's still superman 1 vs 2nd superman cover. But it is definitely nipping on its heels it's certainly a closer race than Tec 29/Bat 1. In lower grades a better value comparison would be tec31/bat 1 Even taking rarity into account, I doubt Tec #31 will be as close to Batman #1 value-wise a decade down the road. Incredible, iconic cover without question but much like you said in respects to Superman #1/Action #7 -- the "No. 1" offers so much more. I could be wrong as anything could happen, but I don't see Action #7 and Tec #31 remaining on the same playing field in the long run. Reprints are more readily available, in digital format now and there is absolutely no comparison between the two groups story-wise. Hollywood has brought to life the importance and value of storytelling within the genre. I expect historical significance, major first appearences and first issues of iconic titles to trump second cover appearences, eventually, by a considerable margin. Over the past few years, many copies of Tec 31 , grade for grade, have outsold $ vs batman 1. Only in the last year or so has batman 1 likely retaken the lead across all grades Your list for 2.0's gave Tec #31 the slight edge (30-35K) vs. Batman #1 (30K). Obviously prices have been strong for Batman #1 of late. Both books are incredible, I'm just saying that as time goes on, I suspect Superman #1 and Batman #1 to pull away from their second cover app./classic cover app. counterparts. I guess the diff is that superman 1 has always been ahead of action 7 and as you surmise should continue that Trent. Batman 1 has been behind Tec 31 for some time and in higher grades might still be challenged. Makes one wonder why it has taken bat so long. I think if a 7.5 bat 1 came up against a 7.5 Tec 31, Tec still wins, and might continue to "win"'for foreseeable future. Lower grades bat 1 has performed stronger of late, but far less Tec 31s are changing hands. I still think Tec 31 is more desirable by many but that is starting to change a bit of late (thumbs u No accounting for taste. And the masses will be asses, as they say indeed

  8. Pre-orders are selling out fast! Act quickly. Got the dc retailers newsletter. Diamond is allocating them an avg of 50% of initial order. All advance reorders that went to back order were canceled.

  10. I love more fun. But unless dc makes the spectre relevant someway, the title will continue be stagnant.
  11. I would say the outlook is cloudy
  12. The appeal is generation transcending. As long as comic heroes are in the mainstream, all ages will flourish

  15. I remember seeing a can of soda dropped on a pile of books at a con. I believe most were sa keys your all star 3 incident still makes me cringe The worst thing I ever saw was at a Philly con in the 80s. Jay Maybruck was particularly sniffly that day (which seemed odd to me as a teenager who was watching Miami Vice) and in an angry mood. He bumped into his wall of books and most of them came tumbling down. I remember not feeling very sorry for him but expecting a huge explosion of anger. He was pretty mad. When Greg Buls first put the Circle 8 collection out for sale at a San Diego show in the early '90s I pulled an entire long box of DCs, Quality and Archie comics. Beautiful runs of mid to late '50s of titles like Plastic Man, Black Hawk, House of Mystery and Archie. He had just purchased the collection and most of the books had not been bagged yet, much less priced. He priced the books that night and the next morning they were ready for me. The total was north of $10K, which was fair for over two hundred beautiful pedigree condition comics. But as he was getting ready for the day he accidentally dumped a whole Big Gulp size drink off of the edge of his table into the box! Almost all of the comics were soaked. We were able to salvage about fifteen books. It was a huge bummer all around.
  16. when I put my comic calv run together, the funny animal later issues were down right impossible to locate....the superhero covered issues, not bad...but those issues in the 50's and 60's and such...tough!
  17. I remember seeing a can of soda dropped on a pile of books at a con. I believe most were sa keys your all star 3 incident still makes me cringe the detective 1, too...trent split that one.... the crippen all star 3 was done by a potential customer...
  18. Nice! (thumbs u I didn't know WW was a southpaw! She probably can switch and do equally well with either arm Ambidextrous
  19. all winners has languished in lack of respect increasing price wise, for a long time now...not sure anything will change that.... it is a cool book and a must for serious ga timely collectors... I found as 4 early on, and had most trouble with 3 and 5... but those 3 seems to be in the "difficult" category, and as is the case with most ga titles, specific issues seem cyclical in their availability I wonder why All Winners has languished in lack of respect increasing price wise? it is all relative...pre internet, it was a much bigger book...reflected as such in the price guide... in today's market environment, it just doesn't command the "relative" prices that it's timely counterparts do... But why? Lackluster cover. If All Winners #1 was sporting the cover to All Select #1, it would be twice the price it is now. Bedrock already knows the answer but for any that don't and care to know...Days past it was a timely #1...that got it some pg cred. As west said, in today's slabbed cover centric focus, it has fallen behind. Thanks for the insight guys. The cover is somewhat lackluster, but isn't everything non-Schomburg? There are some pretty cool al a covers
  20. Pent up demand finally stepping up relative to the minimal supply
  21.
