  2. Rick, our of curiosity... Which issues from you run did you hang onto? I have a 1, 2, 7, 10, 12,13 and 15...the "good ones" I'd say so! actually, I just realized I don't have a 2 anymore the 7 , 10 and 13 and 15 are restored, the 1 and 12 are unrestored
  3. i have never "seen" the urge to collect mulitple copies of any book, but if you're gonna do it, this issue is surely a good choice. there are a handful of books I like to own lots of copies of... mmc46, batman 47, action 23, superman 14...I just seem to "need" to try to buy them all
  4. so this issue # was the last I needed to complete my MMC run a few years ago...it had eluded me, and I was able to finagle Parker's copy out of his collection and into mine... since then, I have pretty much bought every copy I could (except for the one to replace parker's "hole")... this is the nicest I have

  6. OK, my understanding based on what you had written in the past was that the entry level price for any complete Action Comics #1, whether it an extensively restored copy or a low grade but complete unrestored copy, would be about $100,000. That is still correct... At the time I was not considering really low grade restored copies... Didn't the clink copy bring in the 40s and the current 1.5 would shock me if it sniffed 100k... A 4.5 ext was about 90k recently right? So not set in stone just some general observations Well, with Sheen and some other bidders who might see this as a last chance to get an Action 1 before it goes completely off the 100k radar, this book might be able to get a close sniff to 100k. A board member owns Charlie sheens former copy... A slight 6.5...Something tells me sheen isn't in the market

  8. Still think 100k is reasonable price to pay for an attractively restored book... Not talking .5 extensives or 1.5 amateurs ... But a nice 6.0 or better restored copy is likely going to bring 6 figures... This particular copy I offered 150k years ago ... I think it is worth more than that Today
  9. It is only a guess if you don't have any facts... Since I have none I'll guess the book is a 7.5-8.0 slight with tear seals and cover cleaned... 150k was old "easy" (that is what I offered years ago)... Maybe much more today
  10. not from what I recall, but that was one of the questions I requested be answered by paul (I was told the owner had old pics, or the catalog or something), but he was never able to provide the info, even though it was available
  11. no doubt (thumbs u but how much restoration has been done to it? we will only know if it is "professionally" graded/checked. The owner, who is an upstanding guy, says not much at all. Yup, Darrel is a great guy. I hung with him for a couple of days out in Oregon. We talked extensively about the book and the short version was that it has been so long since the work was done that nobody can actually recall. I believe that there was also talk of having a possible minor spot cleaning done on the book but can't remember the details. Other than that, all we have to go by right now is the PGX label and how the book looks. I think most can extrapolate or even assume that "clean the cover" Wilson did more than just spot clean (this was the 80's/90's after all, and cleaning was a good thing back then...the difficulty/effort involved in trying to spot clean, when you could just soak the whole cover, is almost silly to consider, I am told) ... if the book was aqueous cleaned, it should be fairly apparent, right? (it certainly looks cleaned, based on the color wash and the missing grease stain that was once on the book)... however, if the owner really doesn't want to sell, then it shouldn't matter to any of us... my guess is, when (if) the time comes to sell, CGC will be involved, and then any speculation (for the most part) can be put to rest... I had interest in the book several years ago (strong interest) and discussed it in great detail at the time with paul, but my reservations and the owner's apparent unwillingness to address, stymied my desire...
  12. still have half...others have gone to boardies, so they are still in the "family"... just fun to post on a boring thursday morn (thumbs u
