  1. I guess I could, just didn't think about it... my feeling is folks actively looking for these type of books, do so all the time anyway, and will run across without me plugging, but not a bad idea...can't hurt, right
  2. according to the market, no, but that doesn't mean it won't change
  3. people buy jeans these days that already have holes in them
  4. thanks goodness no internet or "TV" back then...or where would we be now
  5. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? Anything higher cuts into the Mego and Coke Zero money.
  6. Why don't you like to buy comics over 9.0? because I only collect Golden age, and 9.0 is good enough for me, relative to the money a 9.2 or higher would cost, when one compares the visual benefits of the mulitples...just not worth it to me (thumbs u
  7. the only reason I can see greengod's ebay id as being relevant is that it "might" add some credibility to his statements...at this point, he is just an anonymous poster...what he says could be 100% truth or 100% fiction... he has offered no verifiable background, no references, no established reporte with the board etc...so , truthfully, why put any credance in what he says identifying an ebay id would not alleviate , but might help to establish legitimacy/reference, and certainly shouldn't harm him/her (not sure if gender has been disclosed or not, so don't want to offend) from offering... I for one don't even like to buy comics over a 9.0, but my history and opinions are long documented, my ebay id is well known, as is my persona and credibility (thumbs u
  8. Dear Gator, Did Carl Barks own a 1916 quarter all his life? Sincerely, Numismaduck. my guess is as a young child in the early 1900's, very few boys had any quarters at all...
  9. I have been following more than just comics collectables market over the past few years and one thing I notice is the Marvel silver age keys are not only hot in the comic book field but are some of the hottest collectables in any field! They have quite a following, those silver age Marvel keys have probably outperformed the stock market in the last 10 to 20 years and with Disney in control now I expect the Marvel silver age keys to continue to be a sound investment. Just an opinion so my question Gator to you is what will be the better investment over the next 5 to 10 years? the Marvel Silver age keys or golden age Superman/Batman comics?(leaving Action 1/Superman 1/Detective 27/Batman 1 out of the equation of course) marvel SA keys are very liquid, no doubt...my opinion is that due to the seemingly readily available supply, there would have to be a larger demand increase in order to create a larger price increase (investment potential)... compare that to an action 1, etc, where supply is almost non existant and you only really need a single person to increase demand to increase price...so, the mega GA keys are a better investment to me, in terms of return, but also come with more risk due to the much higher initial price point
  10. Oh great! Another entry in the "things that cannot be unseen" list! Well, at least theres a roll of tissue right there for her i giggled at that! i like the bottom left one best, cuz: it's yellow, and it's the twilight copy, the sole rep of that ped in my type set, and it's a gorgeous looking book graded down to 7.0 cuz the centerfold is detached---a defect i scarcely care about, but which cgc pounds, allowing me to acquire books i consider high-grade for bargain prices [at $130, gotta be the cheapest book in my type set]! that's a good one
  11. I recently sold one in mid grade for right at $1K...so, I suspect that folks are starting to realize not only how tough the book is in mid to high grade, but that demand does warrant the price tag
  12. psss...bob's dead he ain't no one's friend no mo
  13. They seem to be holding their own
  14. Gorgeous book. Im working on a run of 1-15, and anticipate great difficulty in finding a 6 as nice as this one. they are fun indeed. (worship) Parker - could you please scan and show a pic of the back cover of number 5? if parker won't, I will
  15. a better question is who is hotter, mary ann or ginger
  16. human nature is generally to "want things"...it is how we are wired... human nature is generally more fulfilled when we get the things we want...along the way though, the "journey" starts to increase in importance, almost to the point that it can be every bit as satisfying (or even more so), than the destination... what does that all mean , I don't have a clue but to answer you, GA provides more challenge, more opposition, more effort, more dilegence and most important, more reward to collect... buying and collecting SA is appealing if you truly enjoy that character, have a set of standards from which to you collect (only 9.2, only white page, etc), etc...but there has to be some sort of "satisfaction" in collecting, or what is the point... GA offers that on almost every level... not to mention the history of the genre, the reminder of a simpler time, the lure of fantasy of being 10 years old in 1939 with a shinny mercury dime in your pocket...these are the things that make GA collecting "special"
  17. ah, to try to narrow to one "single" greatest is nary an impossible task, as each Barks fan will no doubt have their favorite... for me, as a scrooge mcduck fan, I have to say FC 178...but your milage will vary (thumbs u This would be my first choice. I used to have a HG copy. really comes down to pesonal preference, on such a large and diverse group of work, such as Bark's was responsible for !
  18. I faxed in my LOI GATOR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back.
