  1. since frank is on a self exile, he did ask me to pass on that he can grade pretty good afterall... the book was sent in for grading, and this is the result...
  2. Those three trademark applications were absolutely awesome pieces of comics history. Didn't think they would sell for as much as they did, but hey, what exactly is a unique piece of history worth? To me, these applications were some of the real highlights of this auction. An opportunity to acquire a real piece of golden age comic history regarding the big 3 Timely titles. Now I ned to dfind a nice Human Torch example to go in the frame with these two pages. Do I shoot for a low grade HT 1, a sharp cover only, or a high grade example of a later issue? I hear there is a HT # 1 VF on the market for a mere $20k. Or failing that, why not just go for a MC # 1...seem to be plentiful nowadays. Well, i'd like to join the MC #1 pedigree club one day. Windy City, Pay copy, Larson, I believe could be had
  3. when 2 full cgc boxes of detective comics were stolen from UPS while in transit from me to clink, we actually found them because the "new" owner tried to register them into the cgc registry... once we contacted the new owner, he of course had purchased them from someone, and promptly cracked all of them out from the cases and had them raw... now, while I had scans of the books, etc, with them not being in a cgc case any longer (he later changed his story to "he bought them raw" ,even though I knew that was a lie) the legal process at that point made recovery of the stolen books, more costly than walking away with the loss!

  7. my guess is that 7.0 purple will be a 6.0 or 6.5 blue for that money If the SC22 becomes a 6.0 or a 6.5, there will be value or money made for the buyer. can't imagine it won't... I mean, just scrape a small amount of glue off and there you go (thumbs u Hopefully its that simple, and hopefully the buyer/bidders did some research...if it was glue that soaked into the paper, that scraping might turn into "digging"..much like marker removal...which won't fair well... Do you know how much/bad the glue was? nope, never paid attention, but I can't imagine multiple buyers/bidders wouldn't have done the research at that price level (thumbs u
  8. May I be the first to congratulate you sir!! Welcome to the Club and you have a one-of-a kind book there! No, thank you! A tough trade no doubt, but a toss up at the very least!!! still was my favorite purchase of 2009 ...glad book has made its way through and too a couple of boardies (thumbs u
