  4. my experience is just the opposite...have had 3 8.0 or higher pgx books, come back 1 full grade, 1/2 grade and 1 1/2 grades lower when cgc'd (and one had tear seal missed by pgx , but the glue was minor enough still got blue label) ..damn GAtor, that really sucks..and i asume they were golden age books, with that glue comment.ive heard bad things about pgx golden-age grades, but the opposite about silver-age... my experiences are all in the possitive im 6 for 6 on the + side over the last year or so... pgx 8.0..pressed came back 9.4 WHITE (batman 227) pgx 8.5 straight sub.. cgc 9.2 (asm #50) pgx 8.0 press.. cgc 8.5 (hulk 102) pgx 7.0 straight sub cgc 8.0 white ( ff #48) and two AVENGERS 57's last year: pgx 8.0 press came back cgc 9.0 pgx 9.2 straight sub cgc 9.4 but im afraid im due for a donkey one of these times.... well, you can't count pressed, as that typically raises the grade... but, it appears on straight resubs you are 3 for 3...pretty good for you (thumbs u
  5. yep, my 3 examples were golden age a MMC 72 was a pgx 8.5, came back cgc 7.5 bought a cap 41 pgx 6.5 came back cgc 6.0 bought a cap 33 pgx 7.5 (I knew this was one "wrong" ) came back 6.0 with slight glue from cgc

  8. that's my man! Im just a Mexican TAG! so by buying one book, you dropped a "g?"
  9. all's good...it is no secret I support metro and CC, I enjoy buying books from them and vin and s have always taken care of me...so naturally, I would not intentionally say anything to hurt a sale, etc... just when I saw the book, my "mind" clicked and I just put out a little post for my fellow boardies (thumbs u
  10. that book, I believe, was in a cgc "trimmed" holder not too long ago Wow, that`s a pretty serious accusation Rick, since CC`s description pretty much says the book is not restored. I think Rick is just making a speculation. It`s a pretty serious "speculation". would you prefer I not make mention of the possibility No, I think more disclosure is always a good thing if it can be substantiated. Just wondering if you could provide some more detail. CC seem to be saying, and providing Borock's confirmation, that the book was never in a CGC slab because it was unslabbable because of overhang. I have not followed up, I only lent my observation in passing... I just recall what I "thought" was this book in a trimmed holder, and visually it struck home with me, but if I had any more details, I would have already provided ... if borock and them confirmed it was not, then I am wrong, I have no problem being wrong sometimes (Thumbs u ...so due diligence was a good thing in this case (thumbs u I think there is enough "evidence" presented to place doubt in one's mind before bidding..that's the beauty of this Board. You don't have to wade out in shark-infested waters alone... (thumbs u

  13. that book, I believe, was in a cgc "trimmed" holder not too long ago I looked at the book before reading your post, Rick, and that is the first thing that jumps out at me. Let's just say I had two similar looking early ASMs (#3 and #4) that I got for cheap from an eBay seller offline that both came back as trimmed (thankfully, I got a refund). I am not making any "accusation"... I said I believe I recall seeing that book in a cgc holder and it was marked trimmed.... I believe CC is simply describing the book as presented/consigned to them in the holder... I only offered my statement for the boards to consider, as a courtesy to my fellow boardies... I think folks will draw their own conclusions based on "why" it is in a pgx holder and not a cgc holder... I believe there is generally a reason why a seller would choose to go that route, but that is just my opinion...feel free to ignore it... I didn't state is as a fact, and I have no proof other than I have recollection (that could, of course, be wrong, but I felt it was worth mentioning)... but ultimately, folks will draw their own conclusions...I think folks know my motives are only genuine, not malicious (thumbs u
  14. I bid on it tim...not to 50K, but I certainly helped (thumbs u
  15. funny you should ask, we just got finished asking matt about it....with worldwide comics in full force, their time to work on the book has been limited (dramatically)...but, matt did say that eventually, it would come out...but I would not look to 2010 as "eventually"
  16. I figure a 5.0 tec 31 is a 23-25K book a 5.0 batman 1 is a $40K+ book... value wise, winner is clear cut bat 1
  17. that book, I believe, was in a cgc "trimmed" holder not too long ago
  18. I couldn't do that...that would be like taking a Supe 1 over an Action 7 for me... not the same
  19. Thanks guys! Every little bit helps in trying to whittle down this $1.075 million bill I just got from Heritage.
