  1. 32 was the toughest issue for me...I had already had multiple issues of all the others, except 32...for almost 2 years not one was on the public market for sale (this was 2005/6)... then, I WAY overpaid for a 3.0 in heritage, just to nail the run down (and someone else was having the same trouble I was, as we battled it up thousands more than it should have gone)... that next year, there were a lot of copies on the market (maybe the price brought them out).... so yes, all runs in cycles... and you are right about 31's, I have/have had 5 copies in the past 2 weeks!
  2. I have found many books to be cyclical... I remember in 2005/6, I found like 10 copies of 29 and 31, but could only find 1 copy of 37 and maybe 2 of 36... last year to 2, 29 was really tough (as was 31) but a bunch of 36's were available ...this past year, 37 is "out there"...next year, maybe 33 again...who knows...fun though i am going to lose it soon with all these numbers just ignore them
  3. 3-4 years ago, maybe 5 copies of 35 hit at once... so, it goes in cycles...and many of these books change hands privately too....

  5. Yeah, this list is no substitute for the knowledge of an expert who knows a market really well. But if you're getting into collecting a new title, or want to spot check the true scarcity of all Gerber 8's, or anything like that, it's a very easy way to get a hugely valuable piece of info, and all the data points you need (value in unrestored 2.0, number of copies on the census) are available readily. My Windex scarcity rankings have another factor which is harder to quickly collect (basically, a census of copies sold in public venues or currently available in inventory lists), but it's built on this principle. I'm never going to have time to complete it, so I figured I might as well publish the foundation of the methodology. quite honestly, I consider it ground breaking... and a wonderful tool ..nice to know "how"
  6. I can live with that...might switch 1 or 2 around on any given day, but pretty much "accepted"
  7. that has been my experience too--I've seen more 37s than 36s, but I've only been in the Pre Robin hunt for 3 years...Gator has a much better feel for the scarcity... I have recorded 21 known sales of tec 36 in the last 8 years or so I have recorded 18 known sales of tec 37 in the last 8 years or so... even GPA shows 4 more tec 36 sales than 37 but keep in mind, it is close (thumbs u
  8. the only diff in mine, is I manually factored in "demand" as I have witnessed it, etc...more of a "feel" list 32 is really tough, but relative to demand, it is not as tough as 37 is...hence, in my list, 37 is "tougher" than 32... in Win's list, it is reveresed (though they are close)
  9. You really would put 27 that far down the list Rick? and 36 a slot above 29? sure, 29 has come up for sale at least as often as 36, maybe a wee bit more...and, there are more census copies too, I think
  10. as mentioned, there was a big influx of 37's in the past year...but, overall/over years, a few more 36's (keep in mind, they are neck and neck)... I sold 1 tec 37 and 2 tec 36's this year (thumbs u
  11. It met reserve at $51K? where was the book auctioned? i never even saw it? ComicLink. was the book added at the last minute? nope, was there during every preview I recall looking at
  12. I did a cgc census analysis sometime back...but, as an example, there are 32 #36's and only 28 # 37's... here they are again 27-45 copies on census 28-20 copies on census 29-32 copies 30-26 31-47 32-25 33-53 34-31 35-30 36-32 37-28 and just for fun, 38-58
  13. Interesting. Very nice. I trust your theory here as you have owned multiples of each. I always thought 36 was the toughest (after the elusive 28) because I have seen 0 for sale recently - while I have seen 3 Tec 37's (one of which I bought at a CGC 1.0) Well glad I own a 37 then. (thumbs u you saw your WTB thread where I posted 2 of my 36's...and 1koko sold 1, and socratic wonder found one in SD 2 years ago and sold it, and there was an ebay copy, etc...more 36's than 37's...just that 37's experienced a little "bump" recently, but they are tough!
  14. very cool!!!! I really did love this and the Sensation run (though, I fell a few books short of completing sens 1-108 before I reliquished the run)
  15. One of the most amazing splash pages in the hobby - I posted a pic long ago in CBM for an MLJ article, and people still bring it up on occasion. ronny and I went hangman crazy a few years ago... he bought the San Fran copy (I think bedrock owns it) and I bought the Penn copy (bunky brian might still own it) I mentioned in the clink thread the other night that the 6.5 was "cheap" at under 1K... and there is another in heritage next week I used to own the 6.5, but sold it when I bought the Frisco... sweet, and here was my Penn copy

I've wanted it for so long. The splash page is sick. Putting that aside - the stories in this issue are excellent. I just finished reading it, and God do I love the smell of a book from the early 40's that probably hasn't been opened in 25 years. (thumbs u
  17. folks definitely employ their own strategy...and I am sure everyone has their own reasons... good enough for me

  19. You really would put 27 that far down the list Rick? yep, 27 is just a matter of $'s... I personally have owned (I might be missing one here or there) 28-1 copy 37-2 copies 36-2 copies 29-7 copies 35-5 copies 31-14 copies 27-5 copies 30-2 copies 32-2 copies (actually, I might move this one up to 27/30 level...it was actually the last tec I needed when I completed my first run) 34-2 copies 33-1 copy (first one I bought)
