  1. Keep in mind that pq is page quality not just page color.. The light tan represents page structure and a press might have significantly improved appearance (removed bends in paper, etc) to the point that the book now structurally qualifies for the ow designation... So given the attributes of a particular book, in this case the sc22, a copy with ow or better page designation DOES deserve to have extra weight assigned to it (thumbs u
  2. On sc22 pq is a big deal if you are looking for a seperating quality over other copies... I have looked at about 30 raw copies in the past 4 months and only seen ONE with true off white pages (the other 29 had mostly cream)... To find one in ow/white is truly RARE and worthy of a HUGE distinction over comparably graded copies IMO
  3. Out of the 10 copies I have now bought in the past few months, 8 have had cream to ow pages...1 cgc 5.0 had ow and the chicago copy has stunning ow/white!...that was the best part of the book
  4. Keep in mind those available copies were harley's 2 and 7 others in the fr to gd+ range, all way over priced (IMO)...1koko was with me viewing most of the copies so they were in the room but not selling at the overinflated prices relative to low grade
  5. 5 of the copies did sell wed/thurs...but as of sat there were 9 copies available for sale (thumbs u
  6. Sc22 is only "rare" in 7.0 and above (thumbs u But it is currently experiencing high demand, especially in 4.0 and above
  7. I'll make a scan when I get back home
  8. Well I am sitting in an airport in detroit waiting for my flight to columbus oh (visiting my dad)... I saw a total of 14 copies of showcase 22 available in chicago...the breakdown: Only 1 cgc (the 7.5) all the rest were raw: Only 1 in the vg range (harley at 1400) Maybe 4 in the g/vg to vg- range (from 600 to 900) 8 raw in the gd to gd+ range (cheapest was 300 all the way to 800 asking) And a couple in the fr to gd range (400 ish)
  9. I had 3 GL 1's...sold 1 of them, then, based on the SC 22 "heat" I am going to be getting more agressive on GL1's too... but, unlike SC22 where 4.0 and higher is the sweet spot...seems 7.0 and higher is the sweet spot on GL1...I suspect those will be as hot if not hotter than SC 22 sooner than later (thumbs u I just can't see that book being in the same ballpark with SC 22. SC 22 is so much more desirable, and then throuw in the scarcity and I see the difference being at least as wide as between AF 15 and Spidey 1. But what do I know about comic markets. I agree that GL 1 grade for grade won't stay in the same ballpark...but, mid grade SC will be rivaled by higer grade GL (IMO)
  10. arrived, just have to warm up the scanner!
  11. 12. that is what I have done...minimal profits though
  13. I predicted last month that vgs would push 1500 and vg/fns 2000 + by next year... part of me wishes I had of held onto all my copies, but I go with the flow
  14. I think anything 4.0 or higher is the grade to focus on. If you look at the dealer websites, there are a lot of books in 3.5 or lower condition, but slim pickings (if there are any at all) in 4.0 or higher. that has been my experience too (thumbs u
  15. for folks at home keeping score, and since GPA doesn't always tell the story, here are 7 sales of SC 22 I have made in the past month, first sold to last sold cgc 4.0 cr/ow...$1000 (NC) cgc 4.0 cr/ow...$1000 (boards) cgc 4.0 cr/ow...$1100 (SDCC) cgc 5.0 cr/ow...$1250 (NC) cgc 5.0 cr/ow...$1200 (boards) cgc 5.0 cr/ow...$1250 (SDCC) cgc 5.0 cr/ow...$1350 (SDCC) cgc 5.0 ow.......$1500 (SDCC) I currently have made a $12,500 offer for an unrestored 8.0 that has been declined (private offer) I currently have a 3.5 possibly 4.0 on the way to cgc I currently have a 5.0 possibly 5.5 on the way to cgc... and I don't even think the prices have started to really rise yet!
  16. I have just substantially upped my offer on a 8.0
  17. haven't visited this thread in a while, but we all know 03 is "the" class (thumbs u
  18. very nice pick up Showcase #22 was the hot book at the SDCC. Yes it was! I didn't see anymore CGC graded copies when I got there, but did see about 5 raw copies that were overgraded and overpriced There was one raw copy at the end of the con that I was considering. Metro sold all of their copies, including the PR one, with the most expensive being a GD/VG for $575. I believe that Rick sold all of his copies as well. Looking at the prices on the books that sold, there were probably new GPA highs set across the board in all grades. I did sell a bunch of them... and honestly, I kept raising the price a bit each time... my last cgc 5.0 sold for $1500, no questions asked, no haggling ...he couldn't get his CC out fast enough... a buddy of his had just bought a slightly lessor 5.0 for 1350, and when I pulled my last one out (also sold a 4.0 cgc for $1000), boom, he was on it... bet I was asked 25 x did I have any more... the 3 boardies that got the 4.0, and 2 cgc 5.0's from me here, got them cheap compared to only a month later what they were commanding in sd (thumbs u
  19. jeff really hit a home run with that 11... in fact, his supes run is REALLY coming together nicely well done
  20. I'm generally not envious of lower grade pick-ups....but color me green after seeing that one. Nice snag Bill! and he was offered like 2.5x the price he paid to flip it and refused... nice (thumbs u
  21. I don't think so...folks just update earlier lists...
