  1. That's right........I had forgotten about your Centaur runs. Was it you or Win that beat me out on the Funny Pages #9 in the last Heritage auction? Anyways, when you turn your sights onto the AMF run and you find some of the HG copies (at a resonable price) out of your collecting grade range, be sure to let me know. Any plans to go Fox hunting in the near future? it must have been Win...I am concentrating first on the Mad Ming and Arrow covered FP (I have a few early ones, getting one from ciorac soon too)...AMF will be "4th", but that is likely waaaayyyy down the road (got to sell some more action figures first)... I love Fox as well (All Top, Phantom Lady and Jo Jo GGA, I think Blue Beetle down the road, I just sold my Fantastic #1 to Fuelman, but that is a run I will revisit, the Flame is cool...) but the 2 runs I would love to work on , are of course, Mystery Men and Wonderworld ! followed closely by Weird Comics (just looks so cool)... I don't really have any interest right now in the Big 3, etc... rick
  2. Fantastic, Rick. What's the size of it? hello all... it is a 14" x 19.5"....I can hardly wait!!!! thanks to Ryan, and thanks for all the kudos...I am almost ready to commission another! rick
  3. hey LF.. thanks...as a matter of fact, I am almost done with my Amazing Man run and my Keen Detective Funny run and I have already started on my Funny Pages run...love those Centaurs!...though, you are absolutely correct, they are considerably more of a challenge than DC or Timely...and, me being a vg/fn kind of guy, I do have more to pick from that if I was high grade motivated (which, I am not, thank goodness!) just love dem funny books! gator
  4. and, just so folks don't think I have gone soft on DC's, how about a group shot of some World's Finest between issue 51 and 80 (super tough 1950's books): gator
  5. Wow! And what a great way to do it! (thumbs u
  6. hello all... ok, after seeing RyanH's wonderful AA61 painting for Win, I had to have ryan do one for me...we had actually talked about a tec 35 last year, but since then, I felt tec 31 was the one for me.... well, ryan was pretty busy this spring, but he has found time for me and this is what I have coming my way..... is that SWEET or what... woo hoo gator
  7. if you choose bat 1, you and I might be the only ones to realize which one is a better choice! (thumbs u gator
  8. as long as i take the pix; no way i let the guy near the first editions up there.
  9. A single month? That's sick. Amazing, but sick. yeah, I seriously started collecting Caps last month before SD (I had picked up a couple before them from some friends)...I think there are 6 or so at CGC now that I bought in SD and Chicago (I like to buy them raw, and read them, then send to CGC for resto check/slabbing)....I still need 27 issues, but have managed to find 48 of them (I am only collecting 1-75) that were in my desired range (again, I love vg to fine books, but will occasionally buy higher or lower as the "mood" strikes me)...I could complete the run with high grade, but that is some serious dinero, and that restricts my purchases...I just love the books, and I like to be able to "handle" them, so I rather spend , say $X on 4 vg books, than $x on 1 high grade (no offense Bedrock!)... just floats my boat! thanks friends, for the kind words...half the fun is the hunt, half the fun is the books, and the last half is sharing them with your peers and friends! gator
  10. a few from this month's "haul"...between SD, Chicago and some friends (143ksk, xavier logan to name a couple), I am happy to have had a chance to pick these up! and, they are all in my sweet spot...vg to fine range... gator gator
  11. have to keep this wonderful thread on the front page... gator
  12. Fair point! I didn't think of it that way. I always find great sense in what Peter says rick
  13. I got with Bats notation of the little bit of glue doesn't bother me, and a tear that small likely doesn't affect the appearance of the book to the point it should be considered "restored"...but, I am a batman kind of guy rick
  14. 76 and 78, no 77 in that recent auction. well alright then...you know what I would do if I were you, parker, I would rip my shirt off, ball my fists together and start pounding on my chest like I was king of the world (or at least king of Cap 77) gator
  15. hello all... didn't heritage just auction off some 9.0? of the 76,77, and 78?...I know they had overhangs, so could't be slabbed, but I Thought there were nice? gator
  16. Jack, I have had most of these books for many years. When CGC first came around everyone was saying "you oughta get those slabbed, imagine what they would grade out as". I resisted for a long time. I liked having them handy and readable. Then some personal stuff happened and I realized that I should probably get them graded just to quantify what I had. So I broke down and did it. And I kinda like the fact that now that the books are holdered, my geek friends can't leave grubby fingerprints on them. Now you are asking if I am going to break them out and read them! And I really want to! Fletcher Hanks mania started after I sent them in. I am SOOOOO confused!!!!!!!!!
  17. centaurs are the only books I leave raw, or crack and don't resub...they are meant to be continuously enjoyed...Timely and DC, if I buy raw, I read, then slab...if I buy slab, I crack, read, then reslab (might even press one or 2 in the near future)....but not centaurs rick
  18. JTM....if and when you ever decide to sell....you know where to find me!!!! gator
