  1. Not a joke, Mitch's annual manifestos were a cross between The World According to Garp and Shakespeare's King Lear. (Mitch, if you're reading this, ...just kiddin') Seriously, you had to be there, but if you do a search of archived threads I'm pretty sure your mind will be expanded exponentially by the experience. Yep, that's where I'd put Mitch's writing - right between John Irving and Bill Shakespeare. Or maybe between Bill Irving and John Shakespeare. People may scoff, but Mitch's "MANN UP" has rightfully entered the vernacular.
  2. Lily! Dr. Love, dropping goodness from all over the map! Fantastic stuff!
  3. What a cover! Great technique on the art - looks like grease pencil on Ross or coquille board. Don't see that on too many comic covers!
  4. Great cover! Ray is so under-appreciated...
  5. Great books - especially like this one!
  6. These are enlargements of the upper right corners of the books you showed, with the template at the far left.
  7. its done. A few I'm in need of upgrades but have "an" example of all (also 2 are incomplete I believe) WOW! This is big news! Big Congrats! Can't wait to see them all! Great job!
  8. Fantastic stuff! Is that a mini comic strip in the upper left of this image? Would love to see it closer!
  9. 1952 issue... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL and BEST WISHES for a GREAT NEW YEAR!!!
  10. 1945 issue. The detail in these is amazing and the pics don't do them justice.
  11. Recently learned that Mero also produced "picture stories" for over-sized "CHRISTMAS" annuals that were produced annually starting in the 1930s. These things are square bound, full of gorgeous artwork and inspirational writings. To me, the Mero pieces inside are the highlights. Here is the cover of the 1937 issue. No Mero inside, but love the colors on this image.
  12. Several years ago I posted some Christmas comics by Lee Mero in this thread. Here is a gallery of covers. Posted some interiors on that other thread if you are interested, including two new titles found this year.
  13. Nothing like serious injuries for some wholesome holiday yucks!
  14. Great book! Gets one right in the Christmas spirit!
  15. Love that run and was thrilled to find a bound volume where it begins. Here are a few other covers from that volume...
  16. You don't see many Star Spangleds from that part of the run. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a copy of that issue before. I've never seen that issue either. What a great cover - so much detail in the costumes, weapons, and character designs!
  17. Cool! I had one of those vans in high school. It was a panel van though. Love those Ford Rotunda comics! They had a series of them...
