  7. From Love Tales #43, October 1950, Zenith Publishing
  8. Haven't seen this attributed yet, and the splash may not be by him, but check out this intense Heath western epic. What a storyteller!
  9. Thanks for sharing that great story! How did you research all that?!?
  10. That is great! Looks like you nailed the reference. Thanks for sharing that!
  11. This is from 1958, so more Silver Age, but thought GA Peanuts fans might enjoy seeing this. The Stanford University Chaparral Crash Comics Magazine featured this fun Charlie Brown parody cover. I've been watching out for these Stanford Chaparral Crash Comics for many years and this is the only copy I've seen of this issue. In case you're thinking it's a shotgun wedding cover, here is the fine print at the bottom of the cover: "Synopsis: Indignant citizen apprehends teenage delinquent in act of stealing basketball from mentally retarded child to whom she has given poisoned jawbreaker, while cleverly disguised law enforcement officer records notes in cleverly disguised Crimestoppers textbook...and as for you, Dear Reader, 'Evil to him who evil thinks.'"

  13. Heath also did "Trail of the Purple Sage" for issue 2. For you "micro-pedigree" buffs, note this is the companion issue to issue 1. I wonder if Mary was impressed by Lawrence's comic book gifts. Maybe so, since they survived to this day. Also have another copy in better condition, but I didn't want to break up Lawrence and Mary's set.
  14. Thanks for posting all the great Heath work. Amazing collection of high grade examples of his classic covers! Here is another 1949 Heath story, from the pages of Atlas' Rangeland Love #1. While many romance artists struggled to draw a room or an office, Heath goes the extra mile to add cinematic beauty to this tale of love and drama among the western oil fields (not my inside scans). I highlighted a couple of panels so you can appreciate Heath's artistry.
  15. This comic appeared in Farrell's Battle Report #3, dated December, 1952. I may be way off base, but does anyone else see a similarity? I don't say this lightly, as this would be about ten months before Daring Love #1, and over a year before Fantastic Fears #5 from the same company. (BTW, I was the person who spotted the Ditko story in Daring Love #1 many moons ago and convinced Bob Overstreet to credit him.) Not sure if this full story is actually Ditko or if he worked on it at all - maybe he worked with others, or maybe he was just finding his style. Here are all the pages to the story (not my scans)...
  16. Trip backwards in time... 1. Page from the 1991 comic adaptation of the movie based on Dave Steven's character. Not Golden Age, but the characters are on a German airship in 1938. 2. Page from Our Fighting Forces #26, 1957 3. Page from Battlefront #17, 1954
  17. Some interesting and good guesses...I suspect several hands may have worked on these pages. I don't have a definitive answer, but a sneaking suspicion. Focus on these two characters...
  18. Thank you for starting this thread! Heath is one of comics' master storytellers. A comic with Heath art is a keeper. Here is a lesser known Heath mini-run. Reno Browne #50, #51, and #52 from Marvel Comics in 1950 Behind the photo covers, these comics are almost all Heath art, with action, mystery, humor, and Reno acting tough as Sergeant Rock. It won't dethrone Everett's Venus run, but a fun set! Reno Browne #50 (not my inside scans)
