  1. Four 1956 Jack Kirby stories, inked at least partially by his wife Roz. Great great book you'll never regret getting!
  2. Definitely! Could also say that Kurtzman's work qualifies, since he served in the Army. Love the style of the Pippo comic you posted!
  3. These are interesting! Where do you find this stuff, ebay? eBay, bookstores, flea markets, etc.
  4. A couple more of these comics about the military by actual service members.
  5. My current favorite version of Peter Pan. She lives, reduced size, in a peanut butter jar, until she is needed. Then she expands to full size. How many 12 year old boys influenced their mother's choice of peanut butter? Sheer marketing genius.
  6. Got this from Mile High. Only copy in census. Could this be an uncatalogued Church book? It would be from the tail end of Edgar's buying period.
  7. Have lots of fun items on eBay ending Sunday night, April 1. Rare unlisted (Bronze) D.C. Annual Original artwork, including a couple of pages from Harvey's 1941 POCKET COMICS #2 Some fun Golden Age, including a couple of 1950 Dell graphic novels Lots of fun and scarce giveaway comics, including the first appearance of Smokey The Bear Check them out in this Marketplace Link
  8. The internet...possibly the greatest advance in human communication...perfect for sharing pictures of Lassie comics...
  9. Someone (not me) got a good deal on this... Venus 13 eBay auction closed at 154.01 Venus 13 on eBay Tough issue of a popular Atlas title. Early all-Bill Everett issue. Later issues are highly sought after - the earlier Everett issues are even harder to find.
  10. That was a total hoot! "A horror comic made me throw up once!" There are some great covers and stories shown, too! Superior, Standard, EC. Even has a shot of Fight Against Crime #20! That scene with the young kid was probably more disturbing than any comic book! Thanks for sharing that!
  11. GOOD GRIEF! GREAT POST! Please consider putting this in the Platinum Thread, too! Each one of those pictures has some great treasures - some amazing rarities. Thanks for showing them!
  12. Wow! Great books! Repeat after me... "Platinum Age books have no value. Nobody should collect them. Nobody wants them..." You are right that the humor in some books is dated. But some have timeless humor that still provides great reading today.
  13. 1954 Mexican-produced comic, by way of Argentina. Apparently a Mexican publisher distributed these comics all throughout Mexico, Central, and South America. "Comics of HORROR TERROR FEAR!" Contains contents of This Magazine Is Haunted #12. Includes the classic Bob Powell tale "WALL OF FLESH!" The Spanish title "THE VISCOUS WALL" doesn't have quite the same ring. Back cover shows some other comics they produced.
  14. Great story! Could be a worthy start to several different threads! My mother also loved comics. Other kids had to deal with mothers who would throw out their comics. I had a mom who would buy stacks of comics, but I had to wait until she was done reading them herself!
  15. This one looks like it fought in the war itself! Great cover!
  16. Here's a 1918 comic promoting war bonds from World War I - The Third Liberty Loan. Odd giveaway, bound on top, with cartoons from many of the major cartoonists of the day.
  17. WOW! What a great sequence! Back when Superman and Santa both had guts and gonads. There is more action in one daily strip than in many modern comic books! Thanks for posting this!
  18. 1949 Christmas comic book from Bob Clampett Productions featuring Beany and Cecil, signed by Clampett and crew...
  19. This report contains hearing transcripts and loads of evidence/exhibits. Great reading...
