  1. Listen if nothing else if I inspire one person to get insurance ..it will be worht showing you our pics of the house..

    MY GREATEST FEAR...

Being in the fire service for the last 18 years I've seen some tragic times for families - all I can say is that the most important thing is no one got hurt or worse!!!

BTW - my insurance company refuse to insure my comics.... as did several others I checked with...however original artwork CAN be insured as artwork - BS huh?

    Good luck!

  2. Ok - first remind me again how to attach a link in here.....????

    HERE

Second - $600.00 for these 3, really? I've paid more per comic true, but these? I got all 3 of these through a trade I made with a 'Joe collector friend of mine in Canada... He'd probably have a heart attack if he saw these (and they sold).

  3. There was a huge UK run back in the 1980`s and what was interesting was a lot of stuff they published in them has never been reprinted here in the US, you might want to check some of those UK comics out.

I don't know if you are talking about these but they have just started to reprint some of the original Action Force comics (colorized even - they were originally in b&w).

  4. This is my only european one. Any one know how many where in the run? Comicvine only shows #1.

15 issues. This was a US book FYI.

    Thanks.

There was a Euro version of that too, same cover art only they were titled Action Force - also 15 issues.

This web-site has a multitude of info!!! http://www.yojoe.com/comics/ Including an entire section on the International Joe books (lots more than you might expect).

  5. Finally picked up a copy of GI JOE #21 :) I would say 8.5 -9.0 so happy with that.

    Storm Shadow Rules!!!!

It is the coolest (Canadian Varient even!) And probably paid less than that $1000 for a 9.8!

Hmm I didnt even notice it was Canadian variant. Is there a big price difference between the two? I notice that the barcode is the same though between the USA and Canadian one.

    And it cost me $25cdn

    :)

Yeah the only difference is the .75 cent price - the US version had a .60 price... (I believe even the 2nd and 3rd print had .60 price tag but I could be mistaken on that)

  6. Ah well, still work in progress. Theres some awesome comic rooms in this thread, so this humble collection of (mainly) Norwegian comics aint too flashy in comparison. But it does its job.

Four rows of low grades, reading material (handy when I get the urge for the bottom issue in the stack :tonofbricks:

Those one's at the bottom won't be low grades for too much longer, they are being "pressed" nicely! lol

    Well organized room!!!!! Nice.

  7. I was cleaning up my collection today, rebagging and cataloging in a new software I just got, and I realized that one of my copies of GI Joe 63 has the word classic under the logo. I had never noticed that and couldn't really find anything about it. Anyone know anything about it?

That is a rare 3rd print variant. They are actually had to find, especially in good shape. On occasion you'll see one on E-Bay in fine to good condition that will sell for $20.00 or so. Also called to SO MUCH FUN Variant. The only SO MUCH FUN Varient in the Joe run.

According to YoJoe.com comic section it is the rariest of the Marvel GI Joe run: http://www.yojoe.com/comics/joe/

  8. Cool wall abner. Are the books secured to the wall.

Might the vibrations from the treadmill knock them off?

Nah. There is a little grove in the shelve that keeps them on... I've had them up for a couple of years with no problem (although neither of us use the treadmill as often as we should... :) )

  9.

mighty imPRESSive how these books have started appearing

Any way to know if they've undergone the pressing machine??? CGC not have a way to ID those?? (I collect them but I'm still new at understanding all the details of the hobby...)

  10.

I'm not educated enough to have all the answers about the "copper age" but I can tell you GI Joe got me started in comic collecting back in the day! Man I worked like a crazy person mowing and anything else I could do to get my hands on those fist 15 or so I missed! .

So, you started collecting in late 1983?

    (thumbs u

Sounds about right, maybe early 1984... oh those were the days! During the summer I use to get to the comic shop early (tuesday's I think) and help the owner unload his truck with all the new books and he always gave me a free copy of my choice for helping him! What a guy!!!!

  11. Does it really matter in the end if swampy #20 is 1/84 & Swampy #21 is 2/84 and TMNT is also 1984, it would seem the swampies beat it time wise, so it would be easy enough to call jan. 1984 the start of the copper age. (shrug)

I would say the start of the copper age is GI JOE#1 in 1982.

brought many new non-comic collectors into the market.

issue 1 and 2 both went for over 20 dollars right off the bat.

    larry.jpg

my second choice would be NEW TEEN TITANS #1 as it made DC respectable again and thus opened the door for Swamp Thing #20/21, without NEW TEEN TITANS #1 success who is to say DC would have took a chance with Alan Moore?

From there I went to Transformers, X-Men, X-Force, New Muties (every other mutie title in the 1980's!), Spiderman, and the list goes on! So for me GI Joe was the start of the copper age for me!

(I always thought is was kinda funny that the single most popular character didn't make the cut for the first issue, but he made up for it over the years)

I remember buying TMNT #1 because I thought the title was funny - hated it, gave it to a friend of mine who still has that copy, he still brings that up when we catch up! lol - oh well so much for my nose for "comic investing"!

You know the only DC comic I believe I ever bought was the Watchman TPB...
