  1. REALLY?? That would be interesting! I know a guy in Canada that has everyone of those books, I'll reach out and see what he knows.
  2. Issue 21 became the talk of the comic industry due to the fact that it contains no words; the entire story is told with art only. The concept has been repeated a few times in other books but none with the success that Hama's story had. Besides a great story that introduces Storm Shadow and makes it clear there's a connection between him and Snake Eyes it's a novelty; part of comic history. I even heard a story once that an art class at a University that studied the book as a demonstration of how art alone can tell a story. Like I said at first, I could not chose between the two... they both have lots of importance to both to GI Joe genre and the comic industry of the day. But issue 1 has some good history as well - it is the first comic book ever to be advertised in a television commercial!
  3. For non-Joe fans I would agree... however if you look at number of sales (which I understand is limited to GPA's tracking of CGC books) and the number of books graded compared to value I would say #1 is more collected (assuming the number of graded comics has a corresponding number of people wanting non-graded copies. 21 demands a premium though; I'm sure due to its limited number compared to #1 and it's wider audience appeal. If there were an equal number of 21's out there I do not see the demand (or cost) being as high as a #1. #1 - 1845 graded copies (415 in 9.8 & 524 in 9.6) 12 month average for 9.8 - $251 (27) sales 12 month average for 9.6 - $100 (42) sales 12 month average for 9.4 - $70 (31) sales #21 - 661 grade copies (70 in 9.8 & 195 in 9.6) 12 month average for 9.8 - $569 (4) sales 12 month average for 9.6 - $172 (18) sales 12 month average for 9.4 - $99 (9) sales THIS IS ALL OPINION FROM A LOWLY FIREFIGHTER THOUGH SO DO NOT PLACE ANY TRUST IN MY COMMENTS Honesty, Joe fan or not, it's hard to believe any serious collector (that deals with the Copper/Modern Age of course) not having (or wanting) both issues.
  4. hmmm... good question. I don't think I could chose between the two...
  5. Those where a good read. My favourite part of the story line though will always be the Cobra Island civil war story line especially when Destro comes in at the end. I did like all things Cobra Island (probably because I got to see all those cool water vehicles in play. (lots of those toys!)
  6. Well I'm bummed... I just got the shipping notification for that GI Joe 63 (SoMuchFun 3rd print Variant) I submitted... It came in at a CGC 9.4. I was really thinking/hoping it was going to be a 9.6... My GI Joe: America's Elite #11 Incentive (which I was SURE was going to make 9.8) got a 9.6... double bummer! Still both good looking copies though! I'll post pics when they arrives.
  7. I believe the universal belief is that it doesn't exist OR it's an unmarked exact reprint of the 1st print (which is highly unlikely in my opinion). Third print was a typo or mistake maybe?
  8. I was happy to see some more Joe Action Figure books coming up soon:
  9. This is the GI Joe French Heritage version (EH - Editions Heritage). This series made it up to 47 (from issue 11 up they are double issues having issues 13/14 then 15/16, etc often having a short Spiderman or some other Marvel story reprinted as well.). They were reprints with all the text rewritten in french. (They have a french version from France as well). There was a ComicOrama Jumbo reprint as well that had some Joe stories reprinted. Issue 283 has Issue 20 & 21 reprinted, as well as some other titles (like a trade paperback sampling). They must have loved reprinting 21 in different countries; no translation needed!
  10. I have a couple! Mexico Copy: Sweden Copy: Finland Copy: Canadian Copy: Best page ever!
  11. WOW! That is an extensive figurine collection. It looks like you have all of them. I think they released a Destro too right? Very cool! I love that StormShadow cover on the right I just picked up a copy of that issue myself. The drawing is so cool. So that's 15 drawers of 45 slabs each? 20 drawers between 40 and 45 slabs each (98% GI Joe). The sad thing is I still have about 5 more CGC boxes... It is an evil hobby!
  12. Bought them off a guy who didn't want them anymore... I have no idea where he got them.
  13. I've picked up a couple more of those cabinets since that photo! (and I eliminated those out of order numbers).
  14. That's what my lists shows as well. (thumbs u
  15. I would give ANYTHING to have the original copies I bought off the shelve and read over and over as a kid... Those would be much more valuable to me than any CGC 9.8 any day! Hold on to those beat up copies brother!
  16. Very cool project in the works (I am not associated with this project) http://www.3djoes.com/books.html I hope this makes it off the ground! I've reserved mine!
  17. I bought these off a guy... I have no idea where he got them.
  18. The latest editions to my comic room! Solid wood, 4 drawer (each drawer holds about 45 regular CGC books), locking... exciting night in the man cave!!! I should have cleaned and dusted them before the pic
