  1. @fantastic_four were the metal claws easy to install? I've been considering them for a while, but was worried about messing up the figure. It's a super nice sculpt.
  2. Oh man, the 80's truly was the golden age for action figures. You can't beat the sheer amount of great concepts, designs, figures, playsets that were coming out of the woodwork. MASK was a second or third fiddle to the bigger lines like Transformers and GI Joe, but it was still awesome, and I had terrific times playing with them. I never had Boulder Hill either, and haven't been willing to pay up for one as an adult. Maybe some day.
  3. James was a pleasure to deal with. Communicative, friendly, fast pay, would happily deal with again!
  4. Ha the whole thing is pretty nuts. Marketing an R-rated horror flick to children lead to some wacky ideas. As for the target, my friends keep asking "Are you supposed to shoot him in the d--k?"
  5. Hey bud! Nope, no electronics. It has a bell in the center section that is supposed to make an "eerie" sound if you hit it, but I'm scared to shoot it ha So I'll never know how eerie it truly is!
  6. Happy to share, at long last, a personal grail! This thing has been on my radar as long as I've been collecting. They don't show up often, and when they do they're usually beat up, missing lots of stuff, or cost more than my monthly mortgage. Finally tracked one down in relatively nice shape of at a price I was willing to pay, and it arrived today! The artwork itself is in great shape, as is the box. Two of the targets (right hand and belly) need a little tlc, but I can deal with that. Missing the instructions and ping pong balls, but I'm not worried about that. Next goal is the Kenner Alien figure. I had one once upon a time and sold it, as I thought I'd upgrade to a nicer one some day. While they are expensive and desirable, they're not rare at all, so I assumed prices would eventually come down. And...they haven't. So I'll need to just bite the bullet and pay up for a nice one. Sold all of my NECA Aliens stuff and a couple of Hot Toys to finance this, which was bittersweet at the time, but now that the big guy is here, I don't regret it a bit!
  7. I used to be able to name them all, probably couldn't do that anymore. It helps that they're arranged roughly alphabetically. Here's a trivia question that most of you probably know: who is the smallest character on the poster?
  8. Thank you sir! I'm the same, they're hard to pass up for a couple bucks a piece.
  9. Not comix, but I expect some boardies will dig these. Picked up a nice little collection of pocket sized 50's men's mags today. The Show with the Bettie cover is a keeper for the personal collection along with the Photo, which has a Bunny Yeager Jungle Bettie feature. Should do well with the rest, the Marilyn Monroe Bold should pay for the lot. Love the ads on these.
  10. Super Gods has been sitting on my shelf for years now, need to crack it open soon.
  11. I've kinda been holding on until our next party. I got it specifically to play at our annual NYE party, then I got sick and the party was canceled, and since then I've just been slacking. I'm looking forward to it, though!
  12. And I finished Volume 2 this weekend, JLA 55-56, 64-65, 73-74,82-83. More of the same, that cheesy SA DC goodness, but I'm digging it, and it's a really nicely produced book. Also, completely at random, I picked up a set of the Justice League 3000 and 3001 series by Giffen, DeMatteis and Porter. I am a die hard, life long, devoted Justice League International fan. It is probably my all time favorite superhero comic book series. I have followed Giffen and DeMatteis ever since, so it was odd that this one flew under my radar for so long. I haven't really kept up with moderns much in the last few years, so I guess it still feels "new" to me. Anyway, I got around to reading the full run this weekend, and whooboy, man, it's rough. I had a hard time pushing through. I don't know anything about what went on behind the scenes, but the entire series reeked of editorial interference and/or negligence. The tone shifted dramatically, characters and story arcs would disappear for huge chunks of time only to be practically written off off-panel. It never gelled, it was as though they didn't really know what they wanted to do when they launched, then kept shifting back and forth as the series progressed. Absolutely zero of that JLI magic here. What a bummer. Much better was the Justice League by Scott Snyder deluxe edition hardcover. First, I have to say, I LOVE the paper DC is using these days. Gone are the ultra glossy, crinkly, tissue-esque pages of the past. These recent collections have nice paper with an almost newsprint-like texture that also displays the colors beautifully. This is a handsome volume. As for the story, it's solid if unspectacular. Snyder does his Snyder thing, I enjoyed it but can't say it really knocked me out. I liked it well enough that I'll be picking up the next collection, so I guess that's saying something. So, I believe that makes for about 49 books altogether, bringing my 2020 total to 66. That 1000 book total ain't lookin' so good. We'll see how it goes.
  13. I had this one as well. I believe it came with a comic collecting kit from Sears or JC Penney, along with a box, some comics, etc?
  14. Although I'm not always a fan of his writing style (can be a bit condescending...I don't mind the potty language. I'm a professional swearer myself) I'd say I agree with Hibbs' take 99% of the time, including this one.
  15. Great, thread, @Raze ! Everything I like: wall books, art, artist booths, and toilet humor!
  16. Dear boardies, please share with me the amount of money you like to bring to shows, along with your convention schedule, a recent photograph, and which pocket you keep your wallet in. This is for, uh, the census. Yeah, the census. I'm a census taker. This is important government business, so don't screw it up. As for trades, I don't dig 'em. Usually anyone trying to trade with me is trying to get rid of some carp they couldn't sell in order to get something better. And on the couple of occasions I was the one initiating the trade, it was ME who had the unsellable carp they were trying to upgrade. Better to just sell your dead stock on the cheap beforehand to have cash in hand. At a show, cash talks. It can be difficult to negotiate once you introduce credit cards, trade credits, etc. Cash straight up, make a fair offer, you usually get the book you want at a price you can live with.
  17. It is a classic toy for sure. I've got a pretty sharp one in the personal collection, with both bombs and both short and long masks. But man, it's tough to find a boxed one for less than an arm and a leg. Box art was sweet on this nm series, though!
  18. The sticker sheets included were repros that he never got around to putting on the vehicles. I'm going to clean up the Thunderhawk, strip off the old stickers and replace them with these, as the ones on there now are pretty rough. I'm going to leave the Vampire as is. I cleaned up another T-Hawk last year and got some gorgeous repro stickers from Toyhax that were printed on foil, they really pop.
  19. Nice little MASK pick up from FB today! A couple I needed for the personal collection, and some pieces I can use to complete others. I was stoked to find that Jackhammer still had the machine gun and Raven had both discs. Also two Matt Trakkers including a short mask. The guy said that he's starting to dig all of his stuff out, so hopefully there will be more cool stuff coming.
  20. Yup! Better hurry, as soon as they were announced eBay was flooded with copies of the first prints, not sure how much prices have dropped. It's insane how expensive the Inferno and Fall of the Mutants Omnis have gotten. Sold mine for what I thought was good money, man, they've double in value since then. Wish I'd held onto them. I wonder if they're too obscure to warrant a reprint one day. I'd like to have them again, but am on the fence. I'm afraid of waiting too much longer in case prices keep going even further up, but I'm sure that as soon as I spend $300 a pop on them, they'll announce a reprint. So I guess I'll just hang on and hope to either find a bargain or await the reprint.
  21. There you go! Thanks @punksdropdirtysrh for saving me the lookup. I don't have the patience to sit through Omar's videos, I usually just wait for them to come out and then someone on the MMW will post the relevant info ha
