  1. And yes, can't wait for the UXF omni. I had the individual Premiere hc's as well, so I wasn't in a hurry to get the Omni, then that sucker went OOP in a flash. Have regretted skipping it ever since. Will definitely be picking it up, I think that's the best X-Men comic in forever. It was steeped in continuity and fan service while still forging ahead and breaking new character and story ground. Also my favorite incarnation of Deadpool. Just a great series for X-fans.
  2. The X-Men reprints were announced earlier this month, or late last month, I believe. I read about it over on the marvelmasterworks forum. We're getting reprints of the Claremont/Lee Volumes, as well as UXM Omni 2 & 3. I'll see if I can dig up the announcement...
  3. DC was nearly sold to Marvel in the 80's, so it's not unprecedented. But things are different now, and DC and Marvel are part of mega corporations like Warner Bros and Disney, so I just don't see that happening again. Plus, Marvel is allegedly unprofitable in their publishing as well. Can't see them wanting to take on another albatross around their neck. There is money to be made with these characters in paper comics. But I think it takes a whole new paradigm to make it successful. But if DC folds entirely, that may be the final nail in the coffin for many comic shops and I'd imagine Diamond would struggle as well. Could be the beginning of the end. So, at the end of the day, I just don't see things going down that way. WB may shutter the DC offices, they may even license the characters out, but someone somewhere is going to be making Batman and Superman comics as long as comics are made.
  4. Yes, I think the original omni was strictly the mini series, but this one will have EVERYTHING. Looks super sweet, will definitely be picking it up!
  5. Yes, exactly! DH has a stellar history with licensed properties, I'd love to see what they could do. I don't think any of this is actually going to come to pass, but it's fun to think about.
  6. I always love the offbeat color profiles of those old Spideys, with their mint greens and pale yellows. So weird, so cool, which also sums up Ditko's art!
  7. Oh yeah, you absolutely should! UXM 1 has a ton of fun stuff in it. If you have any interest in X-men at all, you can't really go wrong with that collection. Definitely more entertaining than the silver age X-Men Marvel Omnis. While historically important, that material is a bit of a slog. Not Jack and Stan at their most inspired.
  8. Yup, this is what I've been waiting for. I bought the first Eternals Omni right off the stands, sold it when prices went nuts. Figured this would come one day. But boy did they make us wait for it!
  9. No idea if these rumors are true (and don't trust EVS at all) but it's obvious that even if AT&T shutters DC publishing, they will license the characters out SOMEWHERE. As long as there are print comics being made in the world, there will be a Batman book on the stands. The money may not be worth it to AT&T, but it's definitely worth it to someone. Marvel? Eh, maybe. I'd like to see what IDW or Dark Horse could do with it.
  10. Toy Fair was ok for me. I'll be getting the NECA Alien series with Parker and Brett, been waiting for that one for a long time. Otherwise NECA was a bust. The new Joe line doesn't do anything for me. Like I said before, I like small Joes, that's my thing. Maybe if these figures were modeled on the cartoon or original figures I'd be interested, but this interpretation doesn't do anything for me. Easy pass. Marvel Legends was a relief in that I won't be spending a lot on them this year, apparently. I don't do movie figures or game figures, so those are all hard passes. I'll have to buy the Strong Guy BAF on eBay for my X-Factor set. May pick up Black Tom since it's a semi obscure pick and he'd go nicely with Juggernaut. Already preordered the Age of Apocalypse wave tonight on Target.com, stoked for those. And super excited to finally be getting first appearance Storm. That one has been a loooooong time coming! Wish we'd get a Thunderbird and updated Banshee soon.
  11. That's awesome! More pics of your collection please! I dig this stuff. The only one I've actively sought is the Alien set, but I think they're all super cool.
  12. nice! I had the first printings, sold them when they went OOP and prices went nuts. I need to pick up a new set. Super stoked that they're reprinting a bunch of the X-Men Omni's that I also bought and sold. FIngers crossed they eventually get back to reprinting Captain Britain.
  13. I'm going to go ahead and wrap the thread. There are still a couple of pending deals going on via PM that are obviously still valid, but otherwise I'm "officially" closing it down. If anyone has any interest in anything after it's closed, feel free to shoot me an offer, if I still have it, I'll sell. Thanks to all for looking, it was a good time!
  14. Yes, this is precisely why I don't have any interest in a 6" Joe line. GI Joe is (imo) the best action figure line of all time because of the sheer breadth of vehicles, playsets, accessories they were able to create along with all of the various characters. They had perfect playability. True, I don't really "play" with my toys much anymore, but that's still a big part of the appeal for me. 6" Joes may look cool, but they just aren't Joes to me. We'll see. They may be too undeniably cool to resist when they come out, but right now I'm not feeling it. I DO hope they succeed, so maybe some day we can get more 3 3/4" figures down the road.
  15. I haven't bought anything from Pulse for a long time, but I'm still apparently a premium member (I also got the upgrade with that first purchase when they launched.) I guess I'll check it out this weekend, but I don't think I'm doing the new Joe line, so there's not much I'm interested in.
  16. Yes, the Crime Syndicate story is a hoot! And what the stories lack in sophistication, they make up forwith imagination. The stories are zippy and genuinely enjoyable. Plus I enjoy the clean art by Sekowsky (he drew some pretty gals!) and now I'm reading volume 2 and getting into the Dillin stuff, which is lovely. I feel Dillin is underrated. SA stuff, for all of its relative importance, can be a chore to read. So far I'm really enjoying revisiting these tales.
  17. Stan was great at selling Stan, for sure. And he was a great mascot for Marvel. No question.
  18. I know I've said this before, but: Ditko + Lee = Spider-Man, Dr. Strange Kirby + Lee = FF, Thor, Hulk, X-Men, etc Kirby without Lee = Fourth World, Eternals, etc Ditko without Lee = Captain Atom and Charlton, Warren, Creeper, Hawk and Dove, etc. Stan solo = Ravage 2099 and, uh, Stripperella? I was a hardcore "Screw Stan" guy for a long time. In my advancing years I've softened a bit and think he is definitely due some measure of credit in those creations. But nothing close to what he claimed, and is routinely given. He was a corporate yes man who sold his co-creators out to toe the company line. The Kindly Ol' Grandfather of Comics shtick was hilarious. He was in the business of selling Stan Lee, period. Can't fault a guy for making the most that he could, but it's a shame that he stepped on so many folks to get there. He'll always be Funky Flashman to me.
