  1. That's odd, my comic shop also just got one of these posters in this week. I wonder if it was recently reprinted.
  2. Sideshow made some beautiful pieces for sure. I've owned several over the years, but these two, and the Pfeiffer Catwoman, are the only ones I've kept. I'd like to go back and pick up a few I've missed (particularly Black Canary and Zatanna) but the prices tend to jump after they're out of production. I'm not a fan of the pieces they've been putting out lately. I'm assuming it's just a particular sculptor I'm not digging. Ivy, White Queen, Rogue, all seem to be based on the same model, who appears to be a...uh...handsome woman.
  3. @IkewithMike sure, no problem! This was the first premium format Ivy that Sideshow released. They later reissued the same sculpt with a green skin tone, but I've always preferred this one. And the most recent Ivy PF is butt ugly, so I'm not picking it up.
  4. Yeah, they're great! I wish we'd gotten several waves of figures in the style of the King, but I don't think these sold great, so I guess we should be happy with the two waves we got.
  5. Some Jack Knickknacks! I loved this New Gods figure line from DC Direct. And they even let Superman keep his Kirby face for a change!
  6. Since I'm in a DC mood, here are some of my DC displays, with the new additions worked in.
  7. Nice! There was an HQ on FB last week. I hemmed and hawed over it was nice but not 100% complete. Should have just jumped on it, yours looks great!
  8. Thanks bud! It's surprisingly sharp, a solid NM. Hey man, I get it, we sell to buy, we buy to sell. It's the cycle of life for the collector!
  9. Yeah, that's one I actually didn't have before! He was originally a "deluxe" boxed Figure, kinda pricey back in the day. For $5 I couldn't pass him up!
  10. Scored a pile of old DC Direct figures at a Vendors Village this weekend. I have great affection for this stuff. Back when they started making figures, it was wild to finally have action figures of so many obscure characters. In time, the articulation of DC Universe Classics (and DCD's successor DC Collectibles) would render these obsolete, but I still think they're so charming. And what they lack in posing they make up for with those beautiful sculpts. Anyway, it's fun rebuying this stuff on the cheap these days. Mostly missing accessories, but at the price I couldn't complain. I'm keeping the ones I need, and will throw the rest up in a lot. Should do just fine.
  11. So, there used to be a comic shop just outside of the county. I didn't get there often, but tried to make it once a year or so. The owner retired and closed the store a couple of years ago, and I always wondered what happened to his stock. Well, today I got my answer during a random trip to a Vendors Village/Peddlers Mall type store. Nestle among all of the random junk was a booth that was unmistakably the remnants of his store. As you'd expect, the keys had all been picked, but there were still some nice books. The prices were still the same as they'd been in the shop, which was bad for books that had been overpriced, but good for a few books that have bumped up a bit in recent times. Nothing mind blowing, just a few solid pickups. The Roly Poly and XMen are pickups from the half off sale at my usual LCS. (Decided to share all five copies of Vision as my tribute to @greggy. Couldn't find any yellow background though!)
  12. yeah, definitely seems like there should be bigger issues taking up their time right now.
  13. Yes, luckily it was ok! It was a present for my wife, who kept talking about how badly she wanted to play Zelda and Mario Bros 3. She was really into it for about two weeks, and I don't think she's turned it on since. So...I may end up stealing it from her!
  14. You know, I'd really like to believe that people are getting smarter, and then before Xmas I got a NES classic mini shipped in a SHOE BOX with no interior packing whatsoever. Stupidity endures.
  15. Whatever happened to Orange Crush? Did he get tired of constantly trying to educate the unwashed masses, and then ascend bodily into Heaven?
  16. Like Slym said, we are always in the modern age, which has currently lasted longer than all of the other ages by a good margin. We really need to break it off at some point, but you'll never get everyone to agree on any sort of "Official" basis. Maybe if Overstreet or CGC finally made a determination and started pushing it, collectors would embrace it, but I'm not sure. For me personally, after Copper I called it the Chrome/Chromium Age, which leads up until either the creation or CGC, or the printing of Walking Dead 1, which I then call the Modern Age. Of course, WD 1 has lost a lot of steam, so a lot of folks probably won't want to hinge an entire era on that one book, but to me it definitely represents a clearly delineated turning point.
  17. What really sucks is that I dragged my heels on picking up that wave. Now I've got them all except Gladiator, who I ONLY need for the Apocalypse head, and he sells for $60-$70. The head also sells for $60-70 on its own. At this point I'm probably better off selling all of the parts and buying an entire Apocalypse. Looks great!
  18. Couple of pieces ending tonight that I've been outbid on. The smart thing to do would be to walk away. I'm not sure that I'll do that, though. Someone, quick, take my internet access away from me before I murder my wallet!
  19. The best time to buy is before anyone cares about them. The best time to sell is when everyone cares about them. I tend to do the reverse.
  20. This was a great toy line! The sculpt was so much better than the Toy Biz stuff. Iron Winch Batman was THE Batman figure for me for many years, as it was the closest to a classic look. I still have one of those carded, as well as Robin, Catwoman and Penguin. Very nice line of toys from a great era. The cards look really sharp on yours!
  21. Read Batman: Damned last night. Artwork is lovely but the story is trying a little too hard to be edgy, which is par for the course with Azzarello IMO. Add three more to my tally!
  22. Really loved this series. I haven't held onto many moderns, but I kept all of these that I bought directly from Ryan Browne, which he signed, plus the sketch cover, Blast Furnace, etc. Great stuff.
  23. When I tried to log on last night, I was convinced I'd finally posted one too many, and I'd finally been banned.
