  1. Thats great! And I agree, pics please! I myself have been putting together a loose/mint collection of the Toy Biz DC Super Heroes line that followed the Batman series. I've got the carrying case filled, need to get a second. I've got all four variations of the Penguin and his, uh, missile. I really dig this line because they're legit vintage DC hero toys, but they're still pretty much dirt cheap, so it's not hard to put together a full set. Once I'm finished, I'm going to go back and do the Batman line, hope to get all of the Batman variations. Cool stuff!
  2. Absolutely, you've got my number for sure. Batman, old media, it hits all of the nostalgia collector bases! Good luck with your #2! I realize that could be misinterpreted, but I'll stick with it. Good luck with you #2, no matter what that means!
  3. Great books, so clean. Particularly love the picture frame, that is sweet. The yellow scan background threw me for a minute. Hopefully you won't receive a cease and desist from @greggy's legal team!
  4. To be sure, it looks super sweet! I'd love to have one at a reasonable price. But at around $600, I just can't justify it. Maybe if he came with a piece of Orson Welles' soul, or if he had motorized Planet Chompin' action, but as is, just can't do it. Of course, I only collect the G1 stuff, so I can console myself by saying it doesn't fit my collection.
  5. Thanks bud, he's cool! Always dug this look. I think he's missing a larger gun, but for the price I was ok with it.
  6. I am close to closing my list. I still get Batman, Love & Rockets, and the Dark Horse Aliens Books. Love & Rockets is, like ,quarterly, so that's no big strain on the budget or storage. Plus, it's Love and Rockets. It's great. The Aliens books come out whenever DH feels like it, apparently, so that's not a steady drain on resources or space either. I can't say I've really enjoyed the recent series, but I've read worse. But that really is more about my Alien/Aliens collecting OCD, than it is about comic collecting. But Batman is twice a month, two covers per issue, and I'm starting to get tired of the simple act of bagging, boarding, and filing the issues away every month. I prefer to read digitally or in hardcovers (especially when the stories are so decompressed these days) and I'm wondering if it's finally time to say so long to the Dark Knight in floppy form. BUT, that being said, my LCS still gets a ton of money from me, in the form of toys, movies, back issues, and all kinds of stuff. I'm in there a couple of times a week. So that $8 a month they'd miss from me on Batman is still well compensated for by my other purchases. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Dropping Batman is finally admitting to the end of an era. I bought Batman every month, even in my leanest years in my 20's when I really couldn't afford to buy anything at all. I haven't missed an issue since I was a kid. Dropping it will be bittersweet, but at the same time, possibly cathartic. Plus, if I drop it, I'll probably go ahead and sell off my back issues, which would generate a nice chunk of change as well as clear up a lot of space. But still...it's Batman. Just can't do it...yet.
  7. Oooh, loving that Mobile Command Center. I never had that one, but one of my best friends did, so lots of memories of playing with it. Terrific box art!
  8. Love 'em! I've got the #1 and I THINK the #2, but no tapes at all. The tapes absolutely make it, these are great!
  9. Yeah, I kinda feel like Hasbro is going to get around to all of those harder to find figures at some point, but for the price ($15) I couldn't pass her up. Kinda wish it was the gold variant, I dig that look a little bit more, but all in all I'm pleased to have her.
  10. A different kind of pick up! I know I've said I'm done with modern figures, and I pretty much am, but a local Legends collection hit FB, so I cherry picked a few things. I think I may hang onto the Spiral, it's a pretty cool figure!
  11. I already praised it over in CG, but it's worth praising here as well! I think this is one that gets less love than it deserves. Maybe because of the giant possum? Maybe! But it still has a bodacious painted Dave babe, you can't go wrong!
  12. Yes, they keep their evergreen titles cycling through all of the formats. Kirby's FW stuff first got black and white trades, then the nice slim HC Omni's. Those went OOP, so I sold them, but then they released the nice, thick Omni with all of that material in one spot. I'll be keeping that one for sure, but I may go ahead and spring for the Absolutes, just because the art is so gorgeous in that format. That's really the selling point of the Absolutes, which is how I got hooked: Hitch's art looked so great in that huge format when they released the Authority Absolute. I was helpless after that!
  13. Yeah, you have to jump on the stuff you want nowadays, that's for sure. It's not unusual for print runs to be in the hundreds for some titles. The Eternals was actually one that I had the foresight to buy the week of release, just because I was a big Kirby fan. I sold it once prices went crazy, and have regretted it, but I'd bet almost anything that we'll get a new edition once the movie is released, hopefully a more comprehensive volume featuring crossovers, etc. Marvel seems to be getting onboard the reprint train lately, with several much and long-requested titles finally being announced for another release. Hopefully this attitude will continue.
  14. This is definitely true, though I'll add the caveat that I think Bagge's Apocalypse Nerd is right up there with some of his best. I was surprised by how much I liked it! For me, it's gotta be Concrete, Hellboy and Sin City for originals. I obviously have a great love for the various Aliens books, when it comes to licensed stuff. But, at the end of the day, it's really all about Boris the Bear, right guys?
  15. In the more general category of childhood travels and comic memories, every summer the folks would pack up and take us to Florida for a week, which was about a 16-17 hour drive. They'd always get me a few comics to read. The earliest were Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck. This was my introduction to comics, and a big part of why I still love the characters, I suppose. As i got older it became GI Joe, X-Men, Justice League, etc. I'd read and re-read every book, studying the ads and letter columns, making them all "last" as long as I could. That's why old Uncle Scrooge books still conjure strong memories of lounging across the enormous back seat of a 78 Dodge Magnum (which was a real land boat) with a stack of comics on the floorboards.
  16. Very underrated Dave cover, you don't see it that often!
  17. Took an early lunch this AM to meet up with a FB seller, picked up this lot of G1 goodness. Octane needs some TLC, the Astrotrain box is kinda random, but the Prime is in super nice shape. Needs a fist, gun, and gas pump. The irony here is that I JUST sold a gas pump earlier this week because I thought "Eh, I won't be getting a Prime anytime soon." You never know!
  18. Awesome! They're always worth keeping an eye on, I've gotten a ton of stuff from them over the years.
  19. Good call on Sandman, it's a great series, and those Absolutes are gorgeous. I've got the set, and they look pretty sweet all lined up together with the Sandman bookends. Just beautifully made books. I started buying Absolutes when they first hit, I think The Authority was first. I collected them all for a while, then started selling them when they went OOP and started commanding big $. Right now I've got, I dunno, 20 or 25 of them. The Sandman set, all of the Batman related volumes (minus Superman/Batman, because I just don't care), and the big ones like Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Ronin, New Frontier. It's a beautiful format. If you get them when they first come out, many volumes can be had for $40-$50. For anyone who might be interested, hamiltonbook.com currently has the Joker/Luthor Absolute for $29.95, Kevin Smith Green Arrow for $31, and Jim Lee Superman for $25. I'm tempted just because those are great prices, but those just aren't volumes I care to own. But Hamilton is a great company with some great deals. I buy a ton of movies from them.
  20. The Masterworks look SO pretty together. Beautiful collection! I got away from MW when they started the Omni's, then I went back, then sold them off, then back, then sold, etc. I have a hard time settling on a format. I love the chunky Omni's, especially on the shelf, but they're a pain to read. Masterworks are pretty, but they're very pricey for the amount of material you get per volume. So I go back and forth. I just sold all of my X-Men MW's because I plan on picking up the boxed set when it comes out. But, again, beautiful collection!
