  1. I passed 10 years a few weeks ago, 5000 posts a while back. I'm still waiting for my prize.
  2. It's the Transformers that has me considering selling my legends. Having been working on sorting/selling/cleaning/completing this large G1 TF collection has me in the mood to keep picking them up, whereas my Legends are languishing in boxes in my storage room. Giving some serious thought to selling them off so I can keep buying TF, but then I see something cool like the upcoming Nightcrawler and it convinces me to hang onto the ML's...at least for a bit longer.
  3. I once again find myself straddling that line between selling off all of my Marvel Legends...or diving in and buying a bunch more. I tell myself that what I want to do is sell them off and then put that money back into vintage stuff...but then they release pics of new stuff and I WANT it, and I'm back where I started. It's a hell of a thing, buying toys.
  4. Agreed, my favorite Essentials and Showcases are all horror: Tomb of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, House of Secrets, etc are all great reads in this format.
  5. It was the butthole that pushed them over the edge, I'm sure. Everyone likes boobs. Butts. Sure. A nipple here and there. It's all good fun. But when we start putting buttholes on our comic covers, we have gone too far, people. #AllHolesBarred
  6. I was going to say the exact same thing. The first Essential I purchased was the Uncanny X-Men collection, I was working at the comic shop the day it came out. I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but I think it was something insane like $8.95 for a phone-book's worth of comic pages, and the art was beautiful. I sold a bunch to customers that day with that exact pitch. These days I'm more the Omnibus/Masterworks/etc buyer, but they were certainly a good value at the time. Last year I picked up a couple dozen of the DC Showcase TPB's at that big closeout sale at Ollie's, most of them were under $3. They look nice on the shelf, but I still haven't had a chance to read them, and many of them are double-dips on material I already own in color (Omni's, etc). TL;DR: I own too many damn books.
  7. You wouldn't think a single letter could make that much of a difference, but it genuinely flummoxed me for a while. Couldn't for the life of me figure out who The Grey were and why they were so indecisive. Feeling kinda dumb now, but relieved.
  8. That train has left the station. For good or ill, creators started charging more for CGC sigs, and they found that people will pay it. Can't imagine they'd give up that extra bit of cash now.
  9. I guess I never posted this one I picked up a couple of months ago from the LCS. My original copy is long gone. When I was in middle school I traded my ASM 298 for a friend's 300. He loved McFarlane and wanted to own his first Spidey art, and I just wanted a new book to read, so we did the trade. I ultimately came out better on that deal, but back in the day the price difference wasn't as large.. Wish i'd held onto that one, for nostalgia's sake. At any rate, decent newsstand copy. Not sure if I'll bother with slabbing it though. Maybe one day. Until then, content to have it as is.
  10. I had them all in my cart, then DKR sold out, then the rest hung around for a while, but I didn't pull the trigger. As nice as these are, I'm running out of wall space, and spending $50 on a glorified poster of a comic I already own just didn't add up for me. I like Mondo's stuff a lot, but I ultimately decided to pass, and I'm still ok with that decision...well maybe I shoulda bought the DKR, anyway!
  11. You're a champion, Captain, much appreciated!
  12. And while we're here, why not throw in three copies of 425?
  13. Paging @Cpt Kirk! So tonight I was sorting through some of my old boxes, and I ran across three copies of Bats 412, with no printing info in the indicia, but clearly different UPC boxes and back cover ads. Any thoughts on the printings for this issue? I reference your guide to 414 all the time!
  14. Count me as being onboard with the post-it note prices. Keeps me from having to have awkward conversations if I'm just trying to get an idea of what the price is. I don't like to waste a seller's time, nor my own, so if I can see the price from the floor, no need to bug them if they're talking to someone else, or whatever. Of course, I'm a hermit who tries to speak with the fewest amount of people possible on the rare occasions that I leave my cave.
  15. Wow, that is just terrific. As I said before, I had been avoiding the Micromaster stuff, but you may have set off a dangerous nagging in my brain. Too cool!
  16. It that happens, my ship will come in at long last. I used to buy these whenever I found them for a buck or less just because I love Mignola. I've got a butt-ton of them.
  17. That seems like a bargain to me! If I wasn't on the other side of the country, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Hope lots of boardies get to take part!
  18. A very mature and thoughtful reaction to a situation that would have already driven me to full blown profane tirade. Well done.
  19. Can't believe they'd give it a 5.5 with that much soiling. Gift grade, if you ask me.
  20. I'm at 3.5 as well. IMO, no, I wouldn't have it slabbed. I'd get a nice fullback and mylar, put them in a top loader, and be done with it. That way you could always take it out and flip through it when you were feeling nostalgic. There is no financial upside to having this book slabbed, so if you're just wanting to preserve it, the mylar/fullback/loader combo will keep it safe and sound at a much smaller cost and wait.
