Dang, I had decided to re-buy the series since it was cheap again, but now the prices are jumping again! At least I got my #1, but I was wanting to put together a set of all of the different printings. Oh well.

I bought 11 boxes of indie stuff last week, and there's a big chunk of Shi. I hope someone out there still cares!

I just feel like, in my gut, Spawn 1 is destined to be a perennial $10 book, no matter how many of them there are floating around out there. It may bump up to $15-$20 due to movie hype, but when it settles, I think it'll settle at $10, and will stick there. I've been wrong before, and I only have a couple of copies so I don't have a real dog in the race. Just my gut.

This was waiting for me when I got to the LCS tonight, forgot I'd ordered it! Scan of the bag doesn't do it justice, as the foil effect on the hair is really nice!

Hey, I'm as surprised as you are, but my (admittedly limited) research seems to bear it out. I'm sure there are still copies rattling around in $1 bins out there someplace, but for the most part it seems like the book is on the uptick, and I don't see it dropping again soon. Reminds me of my days working at a LCS (about 20 years ago) when we'd get so many copies offered to us, we'd buy them for about 10 cents a pop, but still blow them out the door at $10 each. They always sold, even several years after the peak of Spawn's popularity. Regardless of how many copies were printed and horded, the character remains popular and in demand, it would seem.

This is my basic approach. If I have an item marked NFS, that means I'm not looking to sell it. I like it, I plan on keeping it. So if someone comes to me wanting to buy, then it's up to them to make an offer, and it would have to be a pretty good one in order to get me to budge. EVERYTHING has a price, even those pieces we never plan to sell. It's just a matter of how ridiculous the money has to get before we decide to let it go. But yes, if you're a buyer looking at a "NFS" piece, then you'd better come correct.

Had this very plan at the last show I went to, couldn't find a single copy for under $10, and most were asking $15-$20. I'm thinking the ship has sailed, or is in the process of sailing, on cheapo Spawn 1's.

Huh, I've been known to pick up B&B 1 when I find it in 50 cent bins. Maybe...I'll stop doing that now.

That's what I'm assuming, as there are several of these packs listed. He ate it on the first one, but the rest aren't gonna go that cheap! Hopefully the buyer gets the books at the price they wanted, and the seller does well with his remaining stock.

yeah, I don't think there's going to be a lot from the big two in the 1980's that is going to be hard to find. But I live to be proven wrong!

I do Estate Sales and auctions quite a bit. It's a lot of fun. I mostly stick to comics and toys, but occasionally I'll branch out if I have a gut feeling about the value of an item. I also dabble in advertising, particularly tobacco and beer signage, stuff like that. I use Auctionzip and Craiglist and the local paper's classifieds, also the homepages of the bigger local auction companies. They usually have pictures of everything up well in advance, so it gives me time to do eBay research on items that I'm interested in, especially things that are outside of my wheelhouse. I've gotten some tremendous bargains, but I've also lost out many times. Sometimes I luck out and none of the local dealers show up, but usually it's the same three or four dudes going for the same stuff. You win some, you lose some. But once you get hooked, you have a great time and keep looking for more sales!

Well, for the most part it has turned out to be what you'd expect: large doses of Image and Valiant (though all in nice shape and not much duplication), but yeah, there are several adult titles. Some Tim Vigil stuff, some Eros Mangerotica, some nude covers, etc. I'll probably put up a sale thread in a week or two to try to blow some of the stuff out. So if you're looking for weird, cheap pervy books, I've got what ya need!
