  1. I picked up a complete run of all of this JSA stuff in a collection last week, and I'm very tempted to keep it and read it myself. You may have pushed me over the edge!
  2. All right, just got back into town, and while I still haven't had a chance to do a deep dive on that collection of 18 boxes from last week, I've at least had time to skim everything, and have picked some winners. As expected, no big keys or $$$ books. It is the collection of a devoted reader, and you can tell. Complete runs of the better written titles from the late 90's and 2000's, so stuff like complete runs of the Alan Moore ABC stuff (including Promethea), Authority, Planetary, and all of the Geoff Johns DC books. Lots of Mark Waid, Peter David, Busiek, the big mainstream names. Again, nothing to blow your skirt up, but complete sets of this stuff will sell easily. The other big bonus is that most of the books are in NICE shape. Some of the older stuff, like the Avengers Taskmaster book, are rougher, but the stuff from the last 20 years is pretty much all VFNM to NM, and a lot of it NM+ Here's a totally random smattering of some stuff I've pulled out. No big money books, but there are lots and lots of $20-$50 books and $50 to $100 runs of stuff like these books, so I will be in good shape. The Spawn 9 newsstand, one of the McSpidey sealed newsstands, and Stormwatch 4, are staying in the personal collection. Very sharp.
  3. Yellow picture frames are the best comics ever.
  4. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Nice. I swear, I get a tingle whenever I run across this cover in a dollar bin, but it's never this version. One day! Congrats!
  5. Love those Deathhawks, you don't see that #2 with the Dorman bondage cover very often.
  6. I understand that people like Signature Series, and that's fine, people should like what they like. It's usually harmless. But let's not encourage people to destroy legitimate Golden Age treasure, please. Let them sign a reprint or something.
  7. I'm ok with Youtube channel promotion if said channels are centered around two topics: 1. Funny videos of people falling down 2. Curvy girls using hula hoops Otherwise, get it outta here!
  8. Glad you're feeling better, good Doctor! Have to admit, it may have been interesting to see how the prize giveaway would have gone down if you'd shipped during a fevered, delusional state. "I got a really cool hardcover!" "Oh, well I got some napkins, loose teeth, and a threatening letter." "That's nothing, I got $1200 in quarters!" Good to hear you're up and about and feeling like yourself. Go kick some butt!
  9. Hey there! He was a passionate reader and fan, but not one to buy speculator books, or with an eye to value. So, I expect big long runs of mainstream titles, as opposed to random “collectible” books, if that makes sense. He was a big DC guy, so I’m expecting runs of Morrison, Johns, stuff like that. But he also took very good care of his stuff, so if there are any random winners, they should be in nice shape.
  10. This collection arrived tonight! One of my oldest friends, going back to high school, asked me about selling his collection. I offered to buy it outright, which he preferred. Last week he dropped off the toys, and tonight he dropped off 18 shorts of comics. I’m not expecting anything mindblowing. He was a reader, not a speculator, so I’m expecting runs of 80’s-2000’s stuff, likely heavy on DC. I paid him a slightly inflated “friend” bulk rate. But if I find anything special, I’ll shoot him some more money. He said he just wanted them out of the house and i could have anything I wanted, but i’ll take care of him. So, expectations aren’t high, but I took a peek in the first box and found this JLA Avengers set, so I think I’ll be in good shape. I’ll report back if I find anything else of note!
  11. See, I just don’t understand stuff like this. But there was no apology, or explanation. The auction ended, and within a minute or two I got the cancellation request. So, that’s enough for me to block, but everyone should use their own judgment. I’ll admit that in my old age I have little patience for flakiness.
  12. This one is low stakes and mostly annoying, but still enough to go on my blocked list. You can decide for yourself. This user won an auction, low cost, only $38.99. TWO MINUTES AFTER THE AUCTION ENDED, they sent a cancelation request, reason given "ordered by mistake." I went ahead and canceled because these days it's not worth the hassle to let these things drag on, but I did block. the-real-jason-bourne
  13. Spawn is a gold mine. The book was HUGELY popular when it launched, and against all odds, has maintained publication all those years since. So, you have a title that not only had a huge commercial peak, but it has lasted long enough that the rule of 25 and beyond can apply, so there are plenty of collectors remembering how much they loved Spawn, who are going back and trying to put the run together. And those late/mid issues are TOUGH. Spawn 1 is has one of the highest prints runs of all time, and yet, 9.8's are hitting, what, $200 now? True, we are at peak market insanity, but it's clear that there is still great interest in the title. I used to buy Spawns whenever I found them for a buck or so. I don't find them anymore. At least locally, the cheap reserves have dried up. Now, onto the important topic: more than one person in this thread has testified that "Casablanca" is not a good movie. To these folks, I'd urge you to visit your physician immediately, as you've clearly suffered some sort of head trauma.
  14. I really enjoyed it. Each issue is in a specific style. The Pax Americana (i.e. Charlton/Watchmen) issue is a real treat.
  15. They really do look great together. I hope they give the upcoming Absolute edition of the Wrightson run the same flocked treatment and trade dress.
  16. Hey Patrick! Yes, the puppet is in remarkably good shape, and you're absolutely right, they're generally rotted or nearly ready to disintegrate! I'm kind of scared to touch it ha I do sell, at this moment I'm planning on hanging onto the MotU stuff, but if anything ever catches your eye, let me know. Oh wow, that's great! I've visited Indy a few times, have friends up that way as well. If you ever make a trip down this way, let me know!
  17. Is that soiling or foxing along the bottom of the back cover spine? Without knowing, I'm currently at 8.5-9.0.
  18. That looks cool! I have to admit that I haven't kept up with Dame Darcy since Meat Cake concluded. I will check this out, that's a cool cover.
  19. It's really cool! This is one I never had as a kid, so it's neat to have one around. Some neat play features. And everyone's gotta love that snake puppet!
  20. Ok, had a chance to go through the boxes last night. A truly random bunch of stuff, though there are a couple of nice Transformers pieces, and quite a nice little assortment of MotU. The Metroplex is missing about five pieces, but the only really expensive one is Scrambler's tiny little pistol, so the rest of it won't be too hard to track down. I may try whitening him, as the white areas have a bit of yellowing. Not severe, but just a little discolored. So I think it'll be fun to restore and complete this one for the personal collection. Devastator is mostly there, but some of the individual pistols and rotor blades are missing. As far as MotU, Zoar, the Stilt Walkers, and Extendar are complete. The Fright Zone is missing the gate, Mantisaur has the box but is missing the rear gun. However, with all of this stuff, all hope is not lost. I mentioned this to my friend, and he said there was a "good chance" he had the missing pieces for all of this stuff, he just needed to look for them. So hopefully more goodies are on the way. Those are the big pieces. There's a large assortment of random bits and pieces, like a bunch of Playmates Simpsons accessories, some DC Direct accessories, a couple of 80's robots (Skatebot, anyone?) and even a Mr Peanut Peanut Butter Maker! So, lots of fun weirdness. But these are the greatest hits. I also got one of the vintage 50x50 Marvel Universe posters from him (I already have one, so this one will be for sale), and he's supposed to bring me a couple of vintage console boxes, I think an C64 box and a SNES Legend of Zelda edition console box. Plus, about 10 short boxes of comics. So, lots more fun on the way.
  21. I've peeked a little bit, there's some MotU stuff, some Transformers...I don't see any Joes. I really love MotU, but have tried to not let myself go down that rabbit hole. So we'll see if I end up selling or keeping this stuff. The eternal struggle!
  22. A good friend of mine is trying to clear his storage space out, and asked if I'd want to buy his stuff or sell it for him. I'm going to pay him straight up, rather than auction it on his behalf, we'll both make out well that way. He dropped off a couple of boxes on Sunday. Can't wait to go through them! Should have about 10 boxes of comics coming shortly. Here's a sneak preview, hopefully I'll have time to get into them tonight.
  23. Ha, yeah, I found that search as well. I guess they couldn't figure it out either and said "Hey, it's rare! And Made in Korea! Uh...rare Korean variant!" ha
