  1. I had one of those posts last night where you sleep on things or ask the advice of another before posting. I decided ultimately to not go wall of text or rant/rave. It has been suggested, however, that this may be an innocent mistake or that somehow poor social skills are to blame. I believe otherwise and would urge caution in transactions with Trey Cannon.

Perhaps it is because his first incident is close to when I got heavily involved in the boards it stays forefront in my mind. Nonetheless, there have been a number of difficulties (admittedly less so recently) in his postings. As such, I would urge any boardies reading this post down the line to do a little investigation before placing themselves potentially at risk as the best predictor of future behavior is what we have engaged in previously. :foryou:

Below are links to multiple strikes if future buyers/sellers want to research information regarding Trey Cannon.

  2. My bad for not including the specific feedback. HOWEVER, I still find it telling given the limited number of transactions on the new ID that a number have gone bad. I have dealt with a number of sellers with feedback numbers well in excess of hers that maintained 100%. Of course, many sellers have not and have to be evaluated on a case by case basis.

I did do the homework, just did not present all of the data for others in the post. For that I apologize :foryou: Nonetheless, I see a pattern of difficulties that puts the seller on my do not buy list...lots of options out there, so I have the luxury of being pretty stringent in my personal criteria (there are a number of former probation list members here in a similar category for my personal shopping list). Just offering my opinion to the crowd which can be taken or left, but I would suggest you are ultimately better served by shopping with other sellers :jugglers:

EDIT: I am also somewhat riled up/indignant about Pedigree, so admittedly primed to see the negative right now (to give the reader fair information on my mental state...which at best is :insane: )

  3. It appears I have an out. Agreed?

ok insure it for the value BUT when it gets to uk and im asked to pay charges i won't collect and it will be sent back to sender, and you can refund the funds,i was gonna send the funds as i normally do on the boards so you would't get hit by paypal frikking fee's,cos im gonna lose out alot,im not rich work 2 jobs, but fingers crossed expresspost will get through customs without any hiccups,up2 you are my terms fine with you?

if not then end just have to leave it al together

What does that diarrhea mess of a run-on sentence even mean? You haven't sent the book yet, have you? If you haven't, don't. Walk away from what will surely grow into a larger headache of a deal.

Sentence make Hulk head hurt! doh!:tonofbricks:

 Amen! That was one of the most astounding run-on sentences in world history. Whether PM or public post, that kind of communication should qualify someone to be banned from the Internet. I pity the ones responsible for grading his school papers.

    A semi-related thought...

I just found Kingdom of Loathing, and it is an excellent time waster. However, they actually have you take a brief test of literacy before you are allowed to use the chat function (i.e. the difference between their, there, and they're...when to use its or it's...etc.). I thought it was equally hilarious and brilliant to require what is in essence a license to chat. hm

I'd like to get paid in meat, please.

Filthy lucre for me (thumbs u

  5.

Agreed...if the case is entirely as described above, I would think you are safe from being listed on the PL. (S)he added conditions after the sale (as I believe it would be reasonable to assume you did not offer to commit fraud in your introduction to the thread). Through insistance ona service you never offered to render, I think (s)he nullifies your obligation.

In fact, depending on your opening conditions to the thread (did you mention overseas shipping at cost) I think a case could be made for placing the buyer on the PL if they refuse to cover postal costs (your offer to split the difference was already quite generous). I suspect that would get quite messy, but I would think that option may be open to you.

Dare I start wallpapering another room in the house with my hoarded Bats 428???

I just cannot get enough of seeing a dead Jason Todd :cloud9:

    That was a joke right?

    :fear:

Yeah, that's it...a joke...I totally do not have any of those books...and I am a great lover of all Robins whiny and annoying :foryou:

:gossip: Actually, I tore them up and wrapped my toilet in them...sometimes I still call the number to kill him and hope against hope that they will ret-con some sort of disintegration ray death :wishluck:

  7. Just so I know before I post buyers we do wait 30 days before proposing a buyer to the list correct? I have a couple of buyers who have not made contact with me and it going on two weeks now.

Correct...in the meantime, perhaps try starting a new PM with them (in case it got deleted or removed on their end). At thirty days, send them a PM notifying them that you are being the case here and take it from there (if payment still hasn't been received).

Sorry you are having a hard time...my books arrived and were great (thumbs u

  8. You should have changed your paypal address within 24 hours of purchasing the books.

Not to stir the pot here, BUT this is not any sort of rule that I am aware of.

I can think of a number of times here I purchased items to be shipped as gifts to other recepients. Also, over the holidays I had a couple of packages sent to my parents' home while I was visiting. Of course, in each case the paypal address did not match where I wanted the item sent...I never once had a problem here with such requests.

  9. I'd like to nominate a board member for the probation list.

Sent invoice on 08/24 for a whopping $13 (two books) and was told he'd be paying by money order. After three weeks, I get the following PM:

Sorry to keep you waiting for so long but I'll have to pas on these books. I just got let go from my job so I'm now completely strapped for cash. If I manage to get some extra cash anytime soon I'll pm you to see if you still have these for sale. Sorry again.

Now, normally I wouldn't care a whole lot given the low dollar amount and such, but the message above was followed by

*Board User In Question* has removed themself from this topic.

He's a new user and I was going to discuss with him how things worked here in the forum marketplace, but since he removed himself from the PM thread, I'll bring it up here as a warning to other members (and him, if he's still here, which I kind of doubt). Reneging on a deal is one thing, then snubbing the communication is just rude, IMO.

If you fellas feel he's eligible, let me know and I'll provide his name.

*EDIT: It just got better. He made a post today in the 'What's new in your collection' thread in the SA forum of some stuff he picked up over the weekend.

This was posted 3.5 hours after his PM to me. Maybe he lost his job Monday or this morning, but color me dubious.

i just explained to annihilus why what happened happened. im not trying to kiss and get off the probation list, just want to explain that i meant no rudeness by deleting the conversation, i was just clearing out the old messages and didnt know it would remove the conversation entirely. im still new here and am still learning how everything works and i guess i learned what happens when you delete a conversation youre in the middle of. there were two other members that i had to back out of a transaction and if you two happen to see this than i am sorry and meant no harm by deleting the messages. as i just told annihilus, i got some extra cash and can pay for the books so if you two are still wanting to sell, pm me and well work out the deal. once again, im not trying to get off the probation list, im just holding myself accountable for my actions and admitting i was wrong to delete the messages before i heard back from the members.

EDIT: if anyone on here feels i should be on the list then add me. ill be more than glad to take responsibility for my actions and take the punishment like a man.

Good for you to respond to this. I actually was the one who asked about references in your other sales thread. Kudos to you for honestly mentioning that you had to bail on a couple of transactions. However, that was sufficient to frighten me completely off the thread. If you want to be able to buy and sell here, you must be as good as your word and honor any committments you make. It is not the responsibility of the other boardies you reneged upon to PM you and set things right. This falls to you for failing to live up to your end previously. After 30 days, any of the problem deals are eligible to have you placed on the probation list (which will handicap any future sales you attempt as folks have long memories for folks and their actions even after removal from the list).

I would suggest contacting all the prior parties yourself and attempting to reconcile any previously outstanding deals. :foryou:

Good luck, and as I mentioned honesty admitting the problem and taking steps to correct it is an admirable start.

  10. Agreed Pov...substantively the changes are minor and for the better in terms of clarity. There was plenty of time to either participate in the process or express concern prior to their implementation.

Just seems to be griping for the sake of griping here...the concerns expressed over the "wet nursing" in the new system are incorrect by my understanding. I know if I had to nominate someone for the list I certainly would not do all of the superfluous messaging and consensus building in that list

  11. It's easy for us to rationalize the extra $10 when we only have a limited amount of time to make the decision. In the end, as I said, everyone comes out ahead, and everyone is happy.

Not the buyer who prepares a strategy for the Comiclink environment. So you have winners with soft end times, but as a net buyer I am firmly convinced that I get better prices with definite/hard closes to the lots. An auction is not a zero sum game, but I cannot conceive of a method where EVERYONE comes out ahead :juggle:

  12. Added thought to the above post...looks like Shark may be attempting to still sell the ST 110 (saw it posted again around noon today). I would suggest if you are moving forward with a probation complaint that the book be held until the boardie is placed on the list or you withdraw the complaint. Reason being, if he offers within the 30 days to make good and you no longer have the book it would make for quite a mess

I was more than a bit perturbed when he backed out of the deal, but I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt and recommend he NOT be placed on the probation list. He is a newbie and I'm sure he didn't know the "rules" around here. Everyone should read the rules prior to buying or selling in here but that doesn't mean they're going to. And it's just sad that people not standing by their word seems to be rather prevalent these days. :(

Sounds like problem solved. I am sorry for the frustration you had to deal with though....weekends are supposed to be :whee: NOT :frustrated:

Anyway, I hope you find a happy home for the book buddy :wishluck:

  14. What would you consider restitution for him to be removed from the PL?

Perhaps a public apology at the very least for being a bit of a nozzle??? How hard is it for people to read the rules prior to posting threads to sell or want to buy?

I gotta come down on Shark's side (although the guy should get his 30 days to make good). Shame he does not want to purchase a second copy, but after agreeing on a purchase, he shouldn't have continued shopping on a better deal for another. Just suggests bad faith bargaining on his part :juggle:

Anyway, maybe he will come over here and offer his side of the story or propose some way to make good with Shark.

:gossip: For what it is worth on a newbie, I would probably seek the public apology noted above (hoping the slight shaming would change future behavior). However, I think it is Shark's call to make here :foryou:
