  1. Has anybody tried the magic wand scanners?
  2. Just ordered a bunch of Gnomon workshop DVD's. Hoping it will give me some valuable pointers. Some of the ones I ordered are taught by David Finch and Joe Benitez. Should be interesting to see how those artists work and their thought processes. Hopefully I can apply some of thier techniques to make my own artwork better.
  3. Here are some books I recently picked up, not all from this week, but close enough. I plan on cracking out the PGX and resubmitting to CGC, keeping my fingers crossed for keeping the 9.4. 4. Best sense of humor I have encountered on the boards so far...this guy is groovy! Not that those characteristics are really that relative other than making it an enjoyable transaction. As per our PM he held this book for an extended period of time for me before I sent payment. Book arrived swiftly after I sent payment, was packed very well and was in great shape. Thanks.
  5. Yeah, mine was one of the last to get shipped out in the first place, which was a delay to begin with. I saw all these posts for books people got back and mine hadn't shipped yet. Then CGC shipped it back to DWC instead of me. When DWC shipped it out, somehow it had the wrong address on it and the post office returned it because they said it didn't exist. I got DWC the right address but they were at a convention so they couldn't mail it out until they got back. It arrived on a Saturday, and it needed a signature, but I was at work and my wife, who was at home, never heard the mail lady so she just left that stupid note saying it could be picked up anytime monday. I was there about 5 minutes after they opened, I wasn't waiting any longer than I had too that was for sure!!!
  6. FINALLY got this back from the signing. A couple shipping mishaps, but it arrived all in good order. My very first SS book...I'm hooked now. Just sent off a DD #16 and DD #17 to DWC for a John Romita and a Stan Lee. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/ASM300SSFront.jpg[/img]]ASM 300 Here is a Journal entry I made when I sent it off. 7. I bet this time they secure it with a vertical wedge. I just don't know why they don't use the wedges more often, it really helps protect the book. Speaking from experience these things can be aggravating but CGC always rectifies the problem. Congrats. I was very impressed with the customer service. This was my first experience with something like this and CGC. It's nice to see a company conduct business in this way as well as having piece of mind going forward that if something like this were ever to happen again it will be resolved without question.
  8. DR.X Be thankful it was in a white area. Should press out no problem. We'll for any of you who might be curious, the book has been pressed and re-graded and is on it's way back to me. It maintained the 9.6 grade it had previously gotten. Let's just hope it survives the trip this time...keeping my fingers crossed.
  9. Very, very nice. Would look good next to my DD #158 9.8. I'm sure it would.... But it looks even better next to my DD #160 9.8
  10. Talked to Eric at CGC. He is having me send the book back to be pressed. He offered a full reimbursement if it doesn't make grade, but I told him I wanted the book back regardless, so he said they would credit me the difference in value if the grade drops. He was really nice and just kept reiterating that they would take care of me and make it right.
  11. DR.X Be thankful it was in a white area. Should press out no problem. That was the first thing I thought of...thank goodness for that....
  12. Got these back yesterday. Submitted them with my 3 free renewal coupons. All three were purchased raw and then pressed. The DD #5 I sent to MasterControlProgram and he fixed some not so nice color touch up by the top left corner. He had nothing to do with the trimming along the top edge of the book. I'm not a big spender so I could never hope to own a book this nice without some resto work. I'm very happy about this book...well, except for the damage to the bottom right corner it sustained during shipment...still working on that. The DD #7 I bought from a fellow boardie as a 6.0. Very pleased with the result. This was definitely a grail for me and the 7.5 is a dream grade. The DD #161 I bought from a LCS. It was a definite 9.6, but 9.8 was iffy, so I pressed it and voila! After seeing the before and after from MasterControlProgram it would not have made 9.8 without the press. A couple non-color breakers would have held it back. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD5Front.jpg[/img]]DD #5 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD7Front.jpg[/img]]DD #7 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD161Front.jpg[/img]]DD #161
  13. Yeah, I'm hoping. It was already pressed, so to do it again won't hurt anything. I was surprised it was a 9.6, I thought the best it was going to do was a 9.4...so I'm nervous to put it back through the press again and then have it graded all over again. It will be interesting to see what they say.
  14. I got a DD #5 restored back today. It is a 9.6...or at least it was. This is what they did when they slabbed it. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD5BentCornerFront.jpg[/img]]DD #5 Front http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD5BentCornerBack.jpg[/img]]DD #5 Back I didn't get it until after hours so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what can be done. Sigh.
  15. Awesome thread. All my character sheets were on notebook paper. God the memories!! Just the best!
  16. Clash of the kings by George R. R. Martin. Just started it.
  17. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD169GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 169 Thank you Spiderman-on-tilt!!
  18. Got these in the mail yesterday. Bought 8 raw Miller DD's(172,173,174,177,178,179,180,181) from Spiderman-on-tilt a couple months ago. I choose the 9.6/9.8's he was selling. Sent all but the 173 and 177 in for grading in early December. The 177 I thought was a 9.6 and I found a slabbed 9.8 for a really good price so I bought that instead. The 173, I was afraid had a chance at coming back 9.4, so I didn't risk it. For the ones I sent in they all came back as expected except for the 174, I thought it was a 9.8 and the 180 I thought was a 9.6. Started my Miller DD set in July and this last batch put me at #18 in the registry(with a little help from the scoring changes)...woohoo!! Enjoy!! http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD172GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 172 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD174GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 174 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD178GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 178 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD179GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 179 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD180GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 180 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD181GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 181
  19. Sounds great, might have to try and find the trades for a test run.
  20. ...I will say though, to play devil's advocate to my own argument, my wife and I enjoyed the AMC series...well, at least up to the final episode...never saw that one, we lost AMC before it aired.
  21. everyone always assumes zombie titles are about the zombies What I meant was, I never saw the appeal to the post apocalyptic zombie set-up and the effects said alternate future has on humans.
  22. Here you go. My wife got me the #160 and #170 for Christmas. I wasn't expecting that. She never complains about the money I spend, but I wasn't expecting her to fuel the fire. The rest I picked up a week or so before Christmas. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD160GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 160 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD170GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 170 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD177GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 177 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD187GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 187 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/dicjones/DD191GalleryFront.jpg[/img]]DD 191
  23. I've never read TWD, I just threw that in there because I know everybody is tothemarketdownthestreetforsomeCRAZY about it. I just wanted to get a comparison to another book that I knew people here on the boards really liked...I'm not much of a zombie guy, never saw the appeal.
