  1. I'm the old gray haired dude behind the guy on the right!
  2. I'm entering a protest! The second Air Ace is actually Bill Barnes America's Air Ace. If I can get the backing of the Russians, I'm certain to win my appeal. I do find it disturbing that there is not a comma between Bill Barnes and America's Air Ace, but it was during WWII and they were rationing everything. I guess they were low on commas.
  3. None of these set me back very much, but they all have something that caught my interest. This one is a favorite. Takes me back to my childhood. Remember when we were kids and the cops would ask us if we wanted to take point in a shoot-out with some mobsters with machine guns? Those were simpler times. Only copy that I have ever seen of this comic. My statement now guarantees that 14 other copies will be posted in the next 24 hours. I was really excited when I saw the address label for one of Mackie brothers, the original owners of the Cookeville collection, on this eBay purchase. I was also happy that CGC noted on the label that a sticker was attached to the cover. Way to point out those hidden defects. Lots of cool covers in these final few issues of Wings. Plus it's got purple. An early raw Board purchase from Pons (thanks @ciorac) that was dirt cheap at the time. May not be so cheap anymore.
  4. Probably not officially part of the Cookeville collection, but my favorite find in the wild. When I talked to Mr. Mackie a couple years ago, he confirmed that this was the address of his family's home in Cookeville.
  5. Correct. You would open the poly bag, put the comic in a bag and board, and submit the comic, but not the poster. Same thing with comics that are bagged with trading cards and other extras. From the CGC website: "CGC will not certify some floating items, such as free-floating 3-D glasses, or poly-bagged collectibles. All collectibles must be taken out of poly bags before being graded."
  6. I just subbed a copy of that book. By "just subbed," I mean 9 months ago. I removed the comic from the polybag before sending it in and kept the poster. I think you are right about the poster being separate in the bag.
  7. Merry Christmas to you and a very Happy New Year, Michael.
  8. Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and may all your collecting wishes come true in the coming year!
  9. That was my impression. The good news is that having spent almost 3 months in Quality Control I'm certain they will have had plenty of time to make sure the slabs I receive will be perfect in every way. Right?
  10. Well, the mystery of why my comics have been sitting in Grading/Quality Control now for 11 weeks has been solved. Accounting claimed that the credit card that I use every single day was declined. Not sure why they didn't contact me about it. Gave them the exact same credit card number and surprise, surprise, it went right through.
  11. I have a Modern slow submission that was received on 6/17 and has been in Grading/Quality Control for about 9 weeks. How long do comics usually stay in Grading/Quality Control status?
