  1. Those Black Hood Top Notch are my favorite of the MLJ. Nice!!! Thank you. I feel they are underrated(along with the Mr. Justice 'Blue Ribbon' run). The Biro 'Zip' covers and early Archie Peps get most of the MLJ love( and deservingly so) but there are a lot of overlooked gems from the publisher. Nope, no overlooked gems here. Nothing to see here. Just move along guys.
  2. Thanks Jeff. I'd always take colors over grade if they are nice enough, as you know, and there are some issues especially where the color is key. But I may have set myself an impossible challenge - to assemble the entire run with colors that 'pop'. Possibly a lifetime's work, and I'm no spring chicken! (Don't say it Billy!) Still, I'm sure I'll have fun trying. ...... I have a solution..... move to Shangri-La were lifespans are greatly extended.... with your laptop. Have the books flown in via FedEx...... problem solved GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u I'm already there! Thank you O Wise One! Flex's plans include being frozen into an iceberg, to be worshipped by some Eskimos, and to be periodically thawed by some mysterious, as yet to be determined, supergroup, as high color issues of Planets surface. Exact details remain to be worked out, but the basic plan has been proven before.
  3. Great Bondage cover on that MM Robot Man. And Walclark, I've mentioned before that FC 22 is a Thanks, guys. Hitler as a furnace is a cool book. Here's my Blue Beetle #32: And my Mystery Men #27. I've seen some that CGC labels "Hitler cover" but mine doesn't:
  4. That's funny, I've been searching for a Weird Comics #20 for years and haven't had a decent shot at one. But I do have this:
  5. Thanks for sharing. It's a great run with lots of Schomburg goodness!
  6. I'm just going strictly on eye appeal here. No graders' notes have been purchased, but I subbed the 3.0 myself and don't recall any major interior problems. Of course, I could have missed something. Bought the 4.5 already slabbed. And I wholeheartedly agree that grading just based on a scan is not very accurate. Again, just strictly going on the eye appeal test, which book would you prefer? These are both in my collection. Same scanner, same settings. One of these two grades as a 3.0 cr/ow and the other grades as 4.5 cr/ow. Label notes on the first one: 2 staples added, not manufacturing. 2 tape stains on spine of cover. No label notes on the second: When you've decided, check out the grades:
  7. Not only the details on the exploding germans, but also a very faithful representation of the Mont Saint Michel in the background. Compare the cover to this photo with about the same perspective - Wow, that's fantastic! Thanks for posting that. I love this kind of historical information.
  8. Rare, rare rare!! Love it!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!! (thumbs u trade YA my incomplete copy for it grin: Got this one from Dale at a local show a couple years back. Almost passed on it. Didn't know it was hard to find, but the price was right and I couldn't find anything I liked better that day. So I figured might as well get it. We don't get many GA dealers at our local shows. I always try to find something to buy when they do set up, in hopes that they will keep coming back.
  9. It's complete, but the cover and most of the interior wraps are detached. Well loved copy.
  10. Thanks Dude!!!! pretty happy to have finally caught something on time!!! Speaking of Heritage they got one coming up here pretty soon I believe...no pic though last time I saw. There's an image up now and it presents nicely for the grade. I could post a pic of my copy, but don't want to steal gino's thunder. Besides, mines pretty beat up.
  11. Wow, very nice. Can't wait to see it when you cut out the back cover picture and frame it!
  12. I'm not actively pursuing this title, but this one just grabbed my attention. "As the monster stirs, the gun barks at the mad Dr. Mortal." Too bad he wasn't Dr. Immortal.
  13. Rumor is Baylor jumps. But it's anyone's guess thanks dude they certainly did everything they could to make a case (thumbs u time will tell!! I think they get in We will know tonight. Listening to the "experts", Baylor winning their conf champ and having beaten tcu, some think they will replace/jump. Maybe osu made a case? The one thing that is certain is that either the Big 10 or the Big 12 is going to be unhappy.
  14. It's hard to say. It might be a Cookeville. The "M" certainly resembles the middle initial seen on some of the books. Having said that, I've never seen one without the "S" preceding it and the "N" following it. A lovely book!
  15. Pretty sharp looking 3.0. Yep, I was really surprised by that one. Everything else was in line with my expectations.
  16. From eBay and SparkleCity. Graded as 8.5, but I didn't think so and bid conservatively.
  17. Used my coupon to sub some books. Purchased as restored from my LCS about 20 years ago. I like the new rating system for PLODs.
  18. Welcome! Way to make a splash with a pair of Grundy covers!
