  1. Thanks! Biro had so many great covers in CDNP. Especially as a father of 3 girls, #46 is one of the most chilling covers I've ever seen. #24 is also disturbing. I was looking through photos of my comics and I remembered I had taken the below "comparison" photo when I was shopping for a copy. The one on the left is a copy that was offered at NY comicon about 3 years ago. The seller was firm at $2000. I passed. I don't focus on high grades, but I do like nice looking covers, and I didn't like the extensive spine roll on this one. Some time later, I finally bought a copy (the one on right). The cover's much nice (IMHO), and glue is one of those things that don't bother me). And the restoration made the comic a little more affordable than the 1.8 blue.
  2. I have 3 locks and motion detectors inside and outside of the room. Plus insurance.
  3. Here are recent pictures of my comic room (from yesterday). In the first one, limited space required me to stack my EC library in one column. I still need a few of the boxed sets to complete my collection ... I like the way the stack looks, but it's tough to get to books at the bottom. Thanks for reading.
  4. Christmas Gift #5 I bought myself a few comics for Christmas too. First up is Shock SuspenStories 13 with the classic Kamen cover. It's a strange comic, made without staples. I don't mind though since it's in a slab, and it made this 7.5 affordable (even with Heritage's buyer's premium). I also got Crime Does Not Pay 36 via eBay. This is one of my favorite Biro covers. Frankly, I never thought I'd have a copy this nice. I lucked out on this one. Finally, I got Ghost Comics 11. Again via eBay, although this one was through best offer. Thanks for reading.
  5. Christmas Gift #4 My fourth gift to myself was this metal container. I got it on Amazon. I had fun yesterday putting it together as the roast beast was cooking. I use it to store my fireplace kindling. Since it has sides, I can stack everything neatly, and since it's party enclosed, it partially shields from wind and rain. I keep this right next to my firewood stack. Looking at the wood always makes me feel happy, much like whenever I walk into the comic book room. Thanks for reading.
  6. Jim - Really beautiful art. Thanks for posting.
  7. I continue to droll over this ... Here is my copy, which is the trade paper version. I'd love to know the print run of the TP version. It's not rare, but you don't see it on ebay that often. There are only 3 graded copies, and my 9.2 copy is actually the highest graded (which is hard to believe). In addition to my 9.2, there are a 9.0 (owned by @Taxmick1) and a 6.0.
  8. Rich, sorry to hear about your loss. Your travels sound like mine. I go back and forth between VA and SF. Looking forward to seeing your new books.
  9. Christmas Gift #3 The 3rd gift to myself is the 4K Harry Potter collection. Some may think this is lame. But Harry Potter is big in my family. Even though I already have the movies on multiple physical and digital formats, I wanted this 4K version to keep up with my hardware technology (that is, my 4K TVs, which I love ). My wife and I have all our kids home for Christmas, and our goal is to re-watch the entire series using this 4K version. As I type this, we're watching the 1st movie, Philosopher's Stone. My early reviews of this collection is the video quality is amazing -- truly 4K. I'm hoping they also improved the audio track. Some of the movies had problems with this. I'll report back after we've watched all the movies.
  10. You could buy a decent ASM 129 -- but then you wouldn't have the glory of beating your kids at Galaga!
  11. You're in LA with the great weather, so everyday is Christmas for you.
  12. Christmas Gift #2 My second gift was a big one, a new arcade machine. Some may say this was over the top. But this machine is part of how my family connects. Our old one broke (which was close to 10 years old). I thought about trying to fix it, but then I started to look around, and I found the technology had improved so much I was enticed to get something new. This one has a larger 26" screen, and it tilts up. So, for some games, you're facing each other (with the screen down, like with Super Mario Bros), and others you're next to each other (with the screen up, for the classics like Frogger and Dig Dug). And this machine has 1162 games! Including 49 of the top 50 arcade games of the 80s (the top 3 are Galaga, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong; for the full list, see https://www.ranker.com/list/best-80s-arcade-games/video-games-lists).
  13. Christmas Gift #1 I'm at the point in my life that I buy my own Christmas gifts. (The funny thing is, my wife picks her gifts too, but she usually wants me to still buy it for her, and wrap it -- I guess it's a girl thing.) Also, whether something is a "gift" to myself or just something we need for the house is a judgment call. Like, we got a cord of wood the other day because we needed it. Is that a gift to myself, because I'm the one who likes playing with our wood stove? Anyway, here's my first gift to myself for this Christmas. It's the Dewalt oscillating multi-tool. I've wanted one of these for a long time. And this is in Dewalt's (relatively) new Max Extreme Runtime (XR) series. I've been thinking about getting into this series for a few months now as my existing cordless tools are getting old (they're over 10 years old). I decided to get the set because there are great Christmas sales going on now, and I really wanted the depth control accessory, and the cool storage box.
  14. Hmmmm .... thanks for this, but this is about GGA, unless Jimmy is .... I mean, nothing wrong with that. And hey, pretty yellow dress ...
  15. Here's part of the fun of collecting, having debates about things like this. I would say no to PR 21, as it seems the groom was forced, not the bride. And both of them are attractive so not much of a hardship for either (at least on looks). I'd also say no to TLP 2, since I think only covers of the wedding or right after qualify. That's just how I see this category in my head, I'm sure others think otherwise.
  16. GGA Forced Marriages There are themes for everything. Like this one, where the pretty girl is forced to marry a monster, gangster, ugly man, etc. Here are ones from my collection. Anyone have other examples?
