  1. Thanks guys! Gene, if the other MTU #79 page you have seen with Red Sonja is the interior splash page that is all Red Sonja, then you are a lucky man indeed. Best, Lee
  2. And here's one of the two other pages from MTU #79, which is just like the Heritage page, except for no Red Sonja, or Spidey, or action: http://cafurl.com?i=22765 But I still like it. Best, Lee
  3. Hi Chris! You can find the beginning of that epic series of posts here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5955545&fpart=1 I'll try to scan and post more of the earlier auction catalogs (#2-#10) in the months to come. Best, Lee
  4. Thanks for the kind comments! Terry, I can see how your catalog posts from a few years ago were a total labor of love. It's interesting to learn about the Frazetta Sweet Adeline strip. Here is the strip in the current Heritage auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/frank-frazetta-sweet-adeline-unpublished-pitch-piece-daily-comic-strip-original-art-field-enterprises-1962-/a/7158-92184.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Best, Lee
  5. Hi all! I just scanned and posted another complete catalog to www.comicartads.com This time I was inspired by Terry Doyle, who posted complete scans of many Russ Cochran auction catalogs here a few years ago. (That was some great reading!) Terry started with catalog #11, I believe. I have posted the first catalog, from 1980. The previous owner of the catalog accurately wrote in the winning bids for each piece. You can see the catalog here: http://comicartads.com/content/russ-cochrans-comic-art-auction-1-1980 Enjoy! Best regards, Lee
  6. BUMP...3.5 hours to go, and the top bid is $102.50. Thanks, Lee
  7. Good morning! I have an eBay auction running for a drawing by Jim Woodring of his character Jim and some other odd creatures. The auction ends Sunday evening, and you can see the auction here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JIM-WOODRING-Bad-Pony-ORIGINAL-COMIC-ART-/112278739693?hash=item1a24559aed:g:4SMAAOSw5cNYhX65 Thanks, Lee
  8. Thanks for the kind words everyone! This was a first attempt, and I may tinker with the format over time. Best, Lee
  9. Hi all! In my quest to become the (very) poor man's Felix Lu, I decided to start a rather old-fashioned interview series on my ComicArtAds website. The first interviewee is the patron saint of ComicArtAds, Mitch Itkowitz. Mitch's Graphic Collectibles catalogs are the backbone of ComicArtAds due to the clear and easy-to-scan comic art images in every catalog from 1977 to 2000. Mitch was very kind to answer some questions from me via email, and you can see the interview here: http://comicartads.com/content/mitch-itkowitz-interview Big thanks to Mitch for this interview, and for all he has done to get amazing art into the hands of collectors (including myself) over the years! Best, Lee ps. Look out for additional interviews in the future from other dealers whose ads appear on ComicArtAds!
  10. Yikes, voting started already?!? For what it's worth, here's my nominations, with a few words about each: Captain America #206, page 16 (Kirby/Giacoia) http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8454 I had long admired this disturbing page, and I'm glad that Paul Handler traded it to me in a moment of weakness in 2016. The Swine is a real jerk! Incredible Hulk #222, page 22 (Starlin/Alcala) http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8455 I came across this page in a comic book store in Chicago during a visit to the city. This unusual art combo created an odd but memorable story. Marvel Fanfare #27, page 1 (Salmons) http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8460 This splash comes from my one complete book purchase in 2016. The very stylized art is quite effective in several instances, including this image. Master of Kung-Fu #35, page 2 (Gulacy/Adkins) http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8458 I have wanted a MOKF page by Gulacy and Adkins for a while, and this fit the bill wonderfully. The Comic Book History of Beer Promo piece (McConnell) http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8461 My brother-in-law co-authored the book that is the inspiration for this piece of art. I look forward to voting for your amazing submissions! Cheers, Lee
  11. Hi Hekla! If you want to learn more about what art was available during pre-internet days, as well as who was selling and what the prices were, you should check out the searchable ComicArtAds database at www.comicartads.com Best regards, Lee
  12. I think you're going to get schlonged, Glen. But seriously, if you are next, I can't wait to hear that podcast! Cheers, Lee
  13. Thanks for sharing! That splash is amazing. Mooney and Esposito did a great job with this issue. Good luck with your quest! Best, Lee
  14. I'm afraid I don't have any leads for you, but it would be cool to see the pages you have gathered from this issue. Are you displaying them on Comicartfans? Thanks, Lee
  15. Thanks Michael! And nice work with the Iron Man #136 cover. That's a real looker! We'll have to have an art party sometime soon. Cheers, Lee
  16. Congrats, Lee! That's a killer splash. Thanks Gene! I'm very happy it worked out. And yes Greg, I will get the splash framed, together with another pretty sweet interior page from the same issue. I'll share that will folks when it is up on the wall. Cheers, Lee
  17. Hi Greg! I ended up winning the FF #178 splash. It is (will be) the most I have ever spent on a single piece of art. I was willing to go up to around $8K-$9K but was getting close to tapping out when the pesky cut bids stopped and I won. I really love Dave Hunt's inking on that issue and am lucky to have three other pages from that book. Sorry! Best regards, Lee
  18. Great stuff, Terry! Please keep 'em coming. Those Swamp Thing pages and Neal Adams covers are especially heart-wrenching. You and a few other folks I know (Lars) were ahead of your time on those EC stories! Best, Lee
