  1. After reading the discussion in this thread today, I decided to try writing a comic art auction column. My goal is to try to publish a preview of Heritage's weekly auctions, on a weekly basis. I am focusing on comps and previous sales, as well as old ads, but I couldn't resist tossing out some barely educated guesses at auction estimates. You can read my first column here: http://www.comicartads.com/content/heritage-weekly-auction-ending-121717# Enjoy! Best, Lee
  2. Hello all! After reading about @ O.'s challenges in fitting auction previews into his schedule, I decided to try to pick up some slack by posting previews of Heritage's weekly auctions on my ComicArtAds website. The first edition is now online: http://www.comicartads.com/content/heritage-weekly-auction-ending-121717# I will try to do this every week, picking pieces that are interesting to me, providing some information on related sales/listings, and predicting a final price for each of these pieces. I hope you enjoy this, and please let me know here if you have any feedback on anything. Best regards, Lee
  3. Now that I have made my first comic sale on the Boards, I thought it was time to start a thread. Thanks in advance for any kind words! Best, Lee
  4. If you missed out on this nice Wonder Woman splash by Jose Delbo and Dave Hunt 11 days ago at Heritage: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/splash-pages/jose-delbo-and-dave-hunt-wonder-woman-272-splash-page-original-art-dc-comics-1980-/a/121747-13049.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 You now have another chance to add it to your collection: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1438160 I think the new price of $1,600 is not all that bad for a splash of this quality. Best, Lee
  5. I sold my first comic on the boards tonight and was fortunate to have Matt as my buyer. He paid me quickly and has been very pleasant. What a great experience, thanks! Best, Lee
  6. That's awesome! I'm glad the book is going to a good home. I randomly found it in a local comic shop a few days ago. I don't think the shop realized what a rarity the book was. It is a fun bit of comics history! Best, Lee
  7. This website describes the comic book, if you would like more background information on it: http://www.recalledcomics.com/SupermanBradman.php Thanks, Lee
  8. Hello folks! I am offering up the rare "This Island Bradman" Superman comic book, which was commissioned by a very wealthy fellow for his son's Bar Mitzvah around 30 years ago. Only around 200 of these comics were produced. The comic is in pretty nice condition. I'm not a grader, so I am attaching several scans and photos so you can be the judge. The book does not lay flat, and that should be obvious from the photographs. The price is $500.00. The rules are the usual ones: 1. The first wins 2. Payment should be via Paypal or money order within two days of winning this comic book. 3. I will only ship in the United States, and shipping is free via insured U.S. Postal Service priority mail. 4. I will not sell this comic book to anyone on the Probation List or Hall of Shame. Thanks, Lee
  9. I think the quick turn-around on this flip is of at least slight interest, as is the fact that some collectors I know were fairly interested in owning this great-looking page. I guess they have another chance now! There have always been flippers. I have flipped, you have flipped, we have all flipped. I don't frown upon it, but trying to flip a piece that was auctioned in a high-profile manner, as opposed to a piece you got from a seller's ill-advised BIN, so soon after the auction, usually gets my attention for a second or two. As we see more and more nice pieces being offered up 24-48 hours after the conclusion of a major auction, this will become less interesting, I'm sure. Best, Lee
  10. Spoiler alert: The character to be played by Lulu Roman is named Piquen en Grinen.
  11. I bought these pages when the big Hee Haw musical was being prepared for a long and successful Broadway run: http://www.dallastheatercenter.org/show_details2.php?sid=98 The prices on these pages were sure to skyrocket when the subsequent movie with (likely) Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Dwayne Johnson, etc. was developed. But it didn't work out that way. Best, Lee
  12. Good morning! I don't consign to Heritage often, but I do have some interesting items in tonight's Sunday auction, including: A Hulk Annual #7 page by John Byrne and Bob Layton, featuring some X-Men https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/panel-pages/john-byrne-and-bob-layton-incredible-hulk-annual-7-story-page-32-angel-and-iceman-original-art-marvel-1978-/a/121747-13027.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 Two 1970s complete stories by D. Giordano from Superman and Detective Comics, respectively https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/complete-story/-giordano-superman-271-complete-6-page-story-original-art-dc-comics-1974-total-6-original-art-/a/121747-13065.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/complete-story/-giordano-detective-comics-486-complete-8-page-story-human-target-original-art-dc-1979-total-8-original-art-/a/121747-13066.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 Hee Haw grail art lot https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/complete-story/tony-tallarico-attributed-hee-haw-4-complete-short-stories-original-art-group-of-21-charlton-publ-1971-total-21-original-art-/a/121747-13170.s?ic2=myconsignmentspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyConsignment-112816 Thanks, Lee
  13. I was impressed by this price. Would this be a record for British Marvel original artwork? Best, Lee
  14. Hello! I reduced the prices on the remaining pages by Jose Delbo, Al Milgrom, Kurt Schaffenberger, Joe Staton, Curt Swan, and others on my ComicArtAds website: http://www.comicartads.com/davehunt?page=1 Please let me know if you would like to buy anything. Thanks! Best regards, Lee Action Comics #570, page 14 ($150)
  15. My apologies if this has already been reported, but it looks like online bidding is now live for this auction. Go crazy folks! Cheers, Lee
  16. To be fair, it does take some time to line up buyers for art that you don't yet own but plan to flip. I kid, I kid--hopefully something just came up for the potential buyer. I hope this deal works out.
  17. Thanks for the mention Sean! Mike and I are in touch. I think I can help him out. If folks haven't checked out www.ComicArtAds.com lately, I have been posting some fun ads for art by John Byrne, John Buscema, and Jim Starlin. Cheers, Lee
  18. Your website seems to have great promise. Nice work! I should mention that art listed on The Artist's Choice website is sometimes already sold. For example, a quick search of "Dave Hunt" shows a Joe Staton/Hunt Scooby Doo cover. Spencer Beck told me a year or so ago that all of his Scooby Doo art had been sold. In addition, my Dave Hunt search results in a lot of pages by Keith Giffen called "Victory". All of those pages actually come from a comic book called "Video Jack". If anyone needs any Scooby Doo or Video Jack artwork, please let me know. And keep up the good work NicoV! Best, Lee
  19. Hi all! I have finally gotten around to scanning another old original comic art catalog, which in this case is a 1979 mailer from someone named Roger McClannen. There is a lot of fun 1970s Marvel art here for crazy prices. I ended up owning one of the Marvel Two-in-One pages for a while, and I have seen other pages from this mailer in collections on CAF. And if you, like me, wonder where all the Ron Wilson 1970s Marvel Two-in-One art is, some of it was in this mailer. You can see it here: http://www.comicartads.com/content/roger-mcclannen-mailer-1979 Best regards, Lee
  20. Hello! I am selling 23 pages by Jose Delbo, Al Milgrom, Kurt Schaffenberger, Joe Staton, Curt Swan, and others on my ComicArtAds website: http://www.comicartads.com/davehunt?page=1 These pages come from the estate of Dave Hunt and have not been widely offered for sale since they were returned to Dave. Please let me know if you would like to buy anything. Thanks! Best regards, Lee West Coast Avengers #28, page 6 (SOLD!)
