  1. I agree with Joe Kubert and the Overstreet Guide- OAAW 168 is the 1st app. of the Unknown Soldier. After all, Kubert only created the Soldier. SSWS 151 is his 1st solo app.

I've argued the position before in the Bronze forum War Thread.

    Respectfully,

    John

  2. Yeah, I guess you're right. But another thing occurred to me- since Marvel had "the upper hand" in the area of superheroes- just think how important the War books were for DC (even if the war genre was started to decline in the later BA). Moreover, since DC had a "monopoly" on war, just think how important Joe Kubert was to the company.

  3. Joe Kubert has been in my life since I was a kid and got my first Sqt. Rock and Unknown Soldier books back in the early 70s. I'll never forget the impact his art had on me.

    God bless you Mr. Kubert!

  4. After reading the War Report, I couldn't help wonder if OAAW 83 join Amazing Fantasy 1 as one of the two most sought after SA keys over the next several years?

83's scarcity and its recently corrected status as the 1st app. of the SA's greatest war character creation will draw many collectors and speculators.

This is the 1st DC War book key to "crossover" into the market of the top 20 superhero keys. I would put it right behind Showcase 4 and (for now) 22 in terms of market value making it the number 3 DC key!

    Hold onto you 83s.
