I think it has to be at least a 3.5 to be eligible for qualified.

I’ve used comicbase for the past 16 years and love it as a database, but don’t use it for prices. For realtime values, I look up eBay sold sells and GPA for graded books. When no sales are available, I’ll look at overstreet.

9.0 to 9.2.

I’m thinking it is more a 8.5/9.0. I can’t tell for sure, but the corners also look to be somewhat blunted. But that is a subjective opinion.

I got the MASK Camaro toy in my Easter basket one year. If I remember correctly, it broke apart the same day. 😆

It’s also an amazing song by Iron Maiden

Not even close to a 9.6.

I did, five or six years ago. I made an offer, they countered I accepted the counter offer. Then I waited three weeks for my shipment, only to have a kind of rude person from Metropolis call me to tell me that one of the books in my order was out of stock. No explanation why it took 3/4 of a month to send me the books they were able to find. If I recall correctly, when I did finally receive them, they were fairly overgraded. That was the last time I did business with them.
Yeah. It’s been my experience that they price things closer to what the actual grade is, not the grade they advertise. Getting a NM at a VF price is because it’s probably a VF.

I prefer the older cases. I have a high dollar Batman comic in a newer case that shifts around in the case. Never had that problem with the older ones.

Not usually in all but the highest grades.

I think cgc may refer to this as a stacking crease. If so, they don’t tend to deduct much from the grade for them, and, as has already been mentioned, they can be pressed out.

Where can I buy these at?

I have my long boxes on heavy duty plastic pallets designed for factories that can hold a lot of weight but not absorb water. They are about 6-7 inches high. Saved most of my collection when the house flooded a few years ago. Only Lost some comics that were in boxes on the floor. I also have them in a place that doesn’t have any pipes of any kind overhead in the ceiling.

Is Silver Age Comics in Queens still around? Gus, the owner is a great guy and sold me a lot of GA when I was in town. He was also at SDCC and Torpedo up until a few years ago.
I tried to stop by there last year but the store wasn’t open even though it was well beyond opening hours. I tried calling the business number and only got voicemail. Was really hoping to go, but they may keep erratic hours.

The last address I see for Roger is 104 Washington Place, and checking on Google there appears to be a barber shop there now.
I really can't think of any great back issue shops... high Manhattan rents make that a tough business model. There weren't many left in recent years and unfortunately covid likely snuffed out the last few. The only one that might still qualify is Metropolis, but I believe they're by appointment only if you reserve books to pick them up, or at least that's how it used to work. There's maybe a few left way out in Queens or Brooklyn where rents are lower, but (IMO) not the best use of your limited time to hike way out there to find them.
With all that said, if you're in the midtown/Times Square area anyway, I'd recommend either of the two locations of Midtown Comics -- tons of TPBs and new issues, the occasional back issue, and just generally a fun browse, with friendly staff.
I stopped by metropolis last year, and it is an internet only business now. No storefront.

It was given out for free at a small comic convention in Youngstown oh last year I believe.

I used to watch this guy on YouTube until it became apparent that he is all about altering books to get a higher grade. He uses light box and other methods. Also thinks that Joey post doesn’t know what he is doing. That last statement should speak volumes.

The CGC grading guidebook appears to disagree significantly with this, although perhaps I am misinterpreting your post:
p. 284 describing a 9.0 - "a small 1/4" missing piece is allowed".
p. 288 describing an 8.0 - 1/2" x 1/2".
p. 296 describing a 6.0 - Accumulation of 1" x 1".
p. 302 describing a 4.5 - Accumulation of 2" x 2".
p. 308 describing a 3.0 - Accumulation of 3" x 3".
I think the discrepancy is because marvelmaniac is giving the Overstreet Grading Criteria, which I find to be more conservative than cgc.

Thanks everyone! @joeyposthas already worked his magic on another one of my books a few years ago.

Hi everyone. I have a bats 357 that has a spine crease/bend that can only be seen when tilting the cover (this is the reason for the glare in the picture; it is hard to get it to show). It is a moderate crease of about 1 cm. Approximate how much of a grade reduction would this crease result in assuming there are no other defects. Appreciate the advice and direction.
Does page "off white" effect numerical geade?
in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions

Interestingly, the official cgc guide to grading comics states that white pages are required for a 10, off-white to white pages are the minimum for a 9.9, off white pages are required for a 9.8, comics with light tan to off-white can grade no higher than an 8.5 and comics with tan to off-white can grade no higher than a 7.5.
Obviously, there are many available exceptions to these guidelines, especially comics with cream to off-white pages. Just thought it was interesting.
