  1. I'd love to get one of those too. Hopefully they have a bunch more waiting in the wings.
  2. That's a beauty. All kinds of goodness here and it instantly brought back fond memories of picking out a toy in the Disneyland gift shop as a 7 year old. I love the glaring Donald toy in the drawer.
  3. I've never noticed this one before. Cool book with stories by some western heavy hitters.
  4. Nice one. My eyes are always drawn to the creepy, slouching guy in the doorway when I see this cover.
  5. I'm a big fan of Cole's Holiday books too. I especially love the side bar of the squirrel (?) riding the rocket on this one.
  6. Thanks again for the scans and I don't want to seem too lazy so I'll check the rest out on DCM, though I'm sure seeing them posted here would still be appreciated by many (or at least the ones with taste ). As far as the fanzines go, some are definitely better than others but, besides the obvious discussions of the comics themselves, in general you'll find letters pages, publisher (Gilberton) history and employee interviews, artist background, lots of foreign Classics information, new discoveries (HRN's, giveaways, etc...), and articles related to the books that the comics were based on.
  7. Looking forward to seeing more of the Fine. Here's the Ramsey cover (HRN #28- 1st yellow banner) and the escape and treasure pages for comparison's sake. Also a fanzine's twist on your painted cover.
  8. Really enjoying the write-ups, scans and comparisons Scrooge. Great stuff.
  9. Some wonderful pages there Scrooge. I didn't do any art comparisons (leaving that to the experts) but I see that only Evans signed the splash page on the Three Musketeers. I checked 4 or 5 other Evans/Crandall CI collaborations and none of them had signatures except for #168, which has Evans and Crandall on the splash.
  10. Nice copies Sqeggs and I agree that the Evans art is a big improvement over the Kildale version of CI #1.
  11. Thanks and they may have tried to change it to a birthday party but I have a feeling they weren't fooling anybody.
  12. That's well put and sum up my feelings on the characters as well. My 11 year old nephew and 9 year old niece each just finished reading my 11 volumes of the new Fantagraphics Barks books (took them about 3 weeks and they absolutely loved them). I asked my nephew his 5 favorite stories and he listed one with Gladstone and one with Gyro.
  13. That's very cool and I'm sure I've never seen one before (or at least noticed one). "SDD" on barrel, some text missing from above the 10 cent star, and best of all, it's now a birthday comic. Do you have any background info on this version?
