Was told by customer service today that Bulk was running 133 business days (6 MONTHS IN REAL TIME) and the Week of March 29 date for processing on the site is still the same. I guess if I've been paying $10 a card its to be expected.

That number is realistic and not surprising considering the PSA shutdown and the number of submissions that people most likely made before the CSG price increase.

Hi Is it possible to edit or make changes to my submit after I've completed the check out? Or would I just start a new submit? And if I start a new submit will I be charged for both? Thank you

Not sure about making changes after you checked out, you should call or email customer service... as far as being charged, if you're paying by CC, you aren't charged until your submission enters the grading phase.

Yeah, I get that, but my question here is why does it still show “scheduled for grading” if they have already been graded and are waiting to be slabbed. Shouldn’t it show “Grading/ Quality Control”?  Also seems odd that it’s been at “Scheduled for Grading” going on a month?  Do you guys agree or what are your thoughts?

Oh I see... Yeah that's odd, maybe some kind of visual glitch or kinks they are working out of their system.

    • Just got a generic answer that csg refuses packages that show signs of damage or potential tampering so you can file a claim with your carrier if necessary.  I feel I packaged my card well enough to avoid any damage unless the box was pretty much destroyed, but tampering...that's something else.  I'm sure the overwhelming majority of postal workers are completely honest, but putting things like WK on the outside of packages to CSG kind of alerts anyone with bad intentions that there is likely something valuable inside.  They should go to a barcode system you can affix to the package so they can scan and sort into priority without being blatantly obvious to potential bad actors.  Hopefully my card will be back to me in a few days and all will be well.

The barcode idea has potential but since walkthrough and express have priority to be opened first, to find an alternative would be challenging.

That’s why I wrote customer service and sent them the pictures. I needed an explanation and obviously I didn’t get subs so I’d like to know because the corners are sharp, the edges are perfect the centering is the only thing that I can see that might’ve been slightly off, and the surface was perfect under 30x lighted magnification. There certainly isn’t enough to downgrade it to a 7.5. I’ll let you know what they say if they respond.

It possibly might have been something they picked up with their infrared and/or uv technology

How can you not be attending the National ?? I can understand not doing on site grading, but at least having a booth for folks to drop off packages to get graded. Maybe offer some daily drawings for free grading, some type of marketing

Way easier said than done. We don't know for sure how backed up they really are and what kind of hoops (logistics) they would have needed to go through especially since CSG only opened for business in February.

Im also wondering what the answer is to this question.  Ive had 39 cards economy tier in the "scheduled for grading" stage for going on 3 weeks now with no movement or change.  Anyone have any idea as to when i should see some kind of change?  Thanks!

To be honest, it probably depends how many orders/tiers are in front of you. How many that is only CSG knows for sure.

  8. I really appreciate a post like this but all I can say is that it's too early. CSG just opened doors in mid February. Maybe in 3 more months and when there's a population report available, we'll have a better picture of the market. So I'll come back in mid August and see where we're at.

Not happy. Sent a one card walkthrough order that was refused by CSG. But if I track it on their website, says they have received it and is safely in their storage facility (which it’s not). This is seeming kind of shady and I’m kind of concerned with what I’ll be getting back in my ‘refused’ package.

Can’t think of any reason they’d refuse it unless it was severely damaged, which I don’t have any way of knowing yet. But ridiculous that their site says they have it. Been a day and a half and no response from customer service.

Hopefully everything works out. Did you send it registered? That's the most secure method through USPS especially if you decided to send it for walkthrough submission.

I don't know how they can compete without offering subgrades. How long can brand alone overcome an inferior product? Their grading is not tougher than others (they award more 10's than SCG), their labels can't really be perceived to 'look' so much better, no subs, more people submitting and getting familiar with SCG, CSG, etc... we will se how this shakes out.

I'm with you. I definitely don't believe in PSA all that much and don't have too much confidence in them.

This thread made me think about what is the minimal value a card should be for it to be submitted given the increase in price to grade card.  Does anyone have a general rule to break even or minimal value of a card for submissions.

Most of the cards I have submitted so far range in value between $20-$50 for bulk service.

I can't speak for anyone else but personally I've expressed sent 8 cards in total, all cards were for my PC or cards I just wanted slabbed to know what I had and for a peace of mind. I haven't been disappointed thus far.

Subs are a must in my opinion. I would imagine that with the PSA news release in June/July, they will have to add sub grades.  People seem to prefer a 9 with subgrades to a 9 without it (I don't have proof, it just seems to be the case).

It also seems that as volume has been forced to CSG and SGC due to the PSA shutdown, more investors/collectors have submitted to these alternatives, and they are getting more comfortable with things not-PSA. Hopefully price convergence continues.

From what it looks like from Nat Turner, one of head honchos at PSA, subgrades are not in the future for them. I'm just glad CSG is able to thrive even more since the top dog shut down. Competition is good.

i am glad you are glad.

but when they are saying something is in the slabbing room and you online account only show scheduled for grading something is wrong.  i need to change my shipping address due to the fact who really knows what the status is and i am scheduled to go out of town on an unscheduled business trip.  no one will be around to accept the package and can't have it sitting on the steps in the middle of a city.

it is now 7 days into requesting a change of shipping address through e-mail and no answer back from them. so, you have to do it this way according to customer service yet they don't answer or read e-mails.  geez, i don't know, Topps had no problem changing my shipping address for an order not yet shipped with 1 simple call to customer service.

maybe if their information on exact status of my 2 orders where actually known i would not have to do a change of address in a just in case i will be gone from home scenario.

and yes i do understand the fraudulent concern. but how many people are actually calling from my house on the phone # supplied to them on my orders to change address. they can see the # you are calling from you know.

If your return shipping is usps, you're in luck...they utilize registered mail,  so someone would have to sign for it, otherwise it's going to wait for you at the post office.

Not at all my point.  I mean that with PSA when my cards arrive at their facility the bar code on the outside of the box is scanned and updated on the website and also sorted by type of submission (at least until they stopped taking anything below Super Express).  Not only does that system keep the customers up to date, but it insures that lower service orders are not being done before higher service.

PSA isn't usable right now, but I sure wish CSG would consider adding a barcode on the packages.  It would reduce the number of complaint threads here by 90%.

They've been in the grading business of different collectibles through the years, I'm sure they have a think tank in place to try to tackle this unprecedented time in sports cards.

That's probably the one thing I'm most unhappy about.  I paid for Standard, they don't have a way to tell that my order is standard so now it's sitting behind a ton of bulk and economy orders and not getting processed because they don't know it's standard.  No matter how slow PSA has become, that was never a possibility.

I wouldn't bet on the slowness of PSA, they suck big time. I've recently seen numerous YouTubers opening submissions from them that were sent out August 2020, totally unacceptable👎👎

Although I was not happy about the 7.5 that my Jordan refractor got from CSG, I must say that the packaging of the slab, and the immediate and polite response from customer service every time I’ve called has been refreshing. They are certainly trying to do it right, and the recent onslaught of cards for grading is not their fault. They’re doing the best they can and in my experience they’ve done quite well so far.

I really appreciate CSG as well. They've only started grading sports cards since February. I have no ill feelings even though my very first submission to any company was with them and it was my prized card, my Fleer Jordan RC that came back ungraded as altered/trimmed. I'm just waiting for the day when they announce that they will slab cards as authentic/altered.

Maybe the card is not perfectly centered left to right. That’s the only flaw I see taking into account all the stated criteria for their grading process. Otherwise, the corners are crisp the edges are perfect and the face of the card is beautiful.

Sweet card! I think you got dinged on the front centering, top to bottom, not sure what else
