Watching live, they never mention buyer's premium. Bidders on the phone probably aren't reminded every time they're told what the next bid is.  Yes, we see it online (small font), but the "classic auction" structure that Heritage attempts to replicate ignores buyer's premium. It only becomes "prominent" after the auction (when it's time to pay and write press releases).

I've always disliked this about some auction houses. The price you are going to pay should be the price displayed...

Well, it's been quite awhile since we've seen a CGC 9.8 graded copy of TMNT 1 up for auction, but I guess now here's your chance:  (thumbsu

Guess we finally get a chance to see what the "post crypto-like crazed" marketplace is for these CGC 9.8 graded copies of TMNT 1 now that we've also got an adittional 4 more copies graded at this CGC condition level for what is now a whopping 35 copies in this so-called CGC highest grade.

My guess is that it will come in well short of the the trio that sold at CC for around a quarter of a million dollars back in the last 4 months of 2021.  :taptaptap:

there is also one on ComicLink so your appetite for deriding this book has some fodder...

The ComicLink 9.8 last sold on Heritage for $192K just over a year ago on 6/16/2022.

The ComicConnect is a first time on the public market that I can see from my database.

I think the ratio of 9.8 to 9.6 is not a negative for values. The overall # has grown but the numbers are still very small relatively.

I hope the comic link one clears it's Heritage price... I'd be a bit nervous selling so soon. It hasn't started yet so we will have to wait for play by play.

$23k so far on the CC copy...

  5. I wanted to update an old post (which referenced an older one from 2012) to report a sale on eBay:

Unicron variant sold on eBay on May30. $5000

The same certified copy sold in Dec 2021 for $1250, that's a nice return...

This is the only other copy available online:

Transformers Universe #1 Unicron on eBay

    $17k!

    I find this issue fascinating!

Disclaimer: none of these copies are mine or belong to anyone I know...I'm just interested...

Complete and farcical BS.  Kevin sold this through Ha back in 2012, with a copy of #1 signed and sketched by him (think it was a 6.0) for around $3,000.  The proofs then showed up at Comiclink during the pandemic and sold for $12,000.  There's nothing of any significance other than the fact that it is a coverless copy.  There is NO WAY anyone offered him $30,000 for it, let alone $300,000-$350,000.

As soon as he said "I've been offered $300,000 to $350,000, somewhere in that range, I don't remember" I knew he was lying...

"Around 1986"...a real expert collector there...

The other guy: "From the outside you can't really tell, but on the inside it has so many details and artwork..." really? REALLY??

Hi guys. A little over 2 years ago, I decided to try and collect the TMNT Vol. 1 run in CGC 9.8, excluding #1 of course. All first print.

    #1 - 7.0

    #2 - #62 - 9.8

I just received the last book I needed to finish the run, the ever elusive #13. After several years of looking all over the place to piece my collection together, it feels weird to be "done".

    congrats!! :applause:

  8. Just noticed there are now 40 tmnt #1 in 9.8. I'm not sure if this is because some blue labels were resubmitted for yellow labels and then were not removed from the blues but there are now 5 yellows, 34 blues and 1 green.

here's the breakdown for the first 3 printings in 9.8 as of 5 minutes ago:

1st printing: 40       3.5% of population (1132 total in all grades)

2nd printing: 12      1.7% of population (714 total in all grades)

3rd printing: 78       4% of population (1893 total in all grades)
